    - CRM 3.0 and Server Hardware Specs I am running CRM 3.0 Professional on a W2K3 Dell PE 1650 server, dual PIII 1.13GHZ procs, 3.0 GB memory, 3 - 18 GB hard drives RAID 5. Server processor/bus speed is 133 MHZ however. I am experiencing a lot of what seems like internal latency in CRM, lots of errors saying Server Unavailable, etc. but a retry then works. I looked in the CRM 3.0 Implementation guide but it has no requirements as to internal processor/bus speed for CRM. Are these CRM problems (latency) being caused by the slow internal bus speed of my server? All other server hardware specs are well above minimum hardware requirements for CRM 3.0. Thanks ....     - Steps for restoring the CRM 3.0 database Hi I need to have a process for restoring the CRM 3.0 database so that I can run training sessions on the same database. When I Restore the database using Enterprise Manager I ger an error because Exclusive could not be obtained. This happens when All users are logged All CRM services are stopped The CRM web site in IIS is stopped The SQL Agent service is stopped (The above steps were tried sequentially and in various combinations). In Enterprise Manager there are a number of processes running on the MSCRM database, which are probably the cause of the problem, but these processes cannot even be ended using the kill command in SQL Query Analyser. The only solution that I have found is to reboot the server, and to do the restore immediately after that. This problem did not exist in CRM 1.2.     - many-to-one relationship with systemuser I would like to create a relationship many-to-one where the systemuser is the main part of the relation, but the Microsoft CRM don't show this entity as available. If I go to the systemuser entity and try to make the relation from there the button to add a one-to-many relation does not appear.     - CRM addin causing outlook messages to hang in outbox I have about 20 different CRM SFO clients installed. Three of these experienced an issue with sending mail. It was not consitant, but it was frequent. When you would send an email it would go the the outbox and would not send out. The email would not be in italic and it had a date of none. No matter what you would do to this email (open it back up and resend, etc.) it would sit in the outbox. If you set your mail to send immediatly it would work, but for my users this was impratical since they are not connected at all times. I had the issue on my laptop and eventually modified the registry key onload behavior key and then restarted outlook. This allowed my mail to go through without any problems, but obviously the CRM client would not work (even though it still showed up) and the add in was no longer in the comaddin list. I readded it modified the key again and everything is working fine now. I suspect that I could have just deleted the add in and then added it back, but as of right now I am not sure if this works. I will be trying it with one of my users after I am confident mine is working ok. I have seen a lot of post about this type of problem and different add ins that cause this issue, but never did see the CRM add in on any of these list. Guessing it should get on the list as a possible cause for this. Has anyone else experienced the same thing? Was there something you did to fix it other than what I mentioned?     - Business Data Lookup Snap-in Error Hi, Anyone else installed this yet? It works initially (although slow) but after I reboot the machine, the tool bar disappears (I have to re-add it via View > Toolbars) and the two buttons that were there originally with icons are replaced with a single button and no icon.     - Screen size is too small when customizing For some reason, when I try to edit the Account form and customize it, I can't get the entire form to fit on my screen. If I resize the window, it still cuts off the bottom part and there is no scroll bar available to scroll down. I'm runnning a laptop with Win XP with resolution set at 1024x768. Any ideas?     - mscrm 3.0 failure in scheduling engine hello all!, My users sometimes have to schedule appointments or phone calls on top of each other. (both from 12:00-12:30) when they attempt to do this, they receive and error message "an error has occurred, contact system admin..." then after they click "ok" an error pops up "General failure in scheduling engine."     - Outlook Query error I recently created some custom fields under our leads section. All of my users are non domain accounts using the SFO client coming through a VPN. all of my users were able to download the custom changes by going off line and back online. however I have one user who consistantly gets a Query error (he provided very little information on the error) after he is offline and tries to open up a lead. I actually saw this on my pc prior to the sync, but doing the sync corrected the issue. Anyone else experiencing this issue?     - CRM 3.0 Outlook Laptop Client Crashes We are evaluating CRM in connection with the Ourlook Laptop Client. First it worked quite fine, after a while the Client cant go offline anymore. Syncronisation with Outlook works fine, but as I try to go offline, the sync proces workes fine for the first moment, then it tries to connect to the local Offline DB and after a while it crashes. In the event log I get the following entry: An error occurred during Offline Synchronization. Try going offline again, or restart Microsoft Outlook.     - Reports with CRM 3.0 Hi all: I have CRM 3.0 installed, and all appears to be working well after a few issues. We are in the process of customization. I need to create reports. I was informed that CRM 3.0 uses SQL 2000 Server Reporting Services. That's all well and good. I have SQL 2000 Server SP4. My questions are as follows: 1. What software do I need to author/customize reports? 2. Did it come with CRM or SQL Server, or dies it cost extra? 3. Why do I get errors when trying to add a report through the UI. I did notice that the pre-supplied reports have a file extension of rdl. I did some examination and now know that they are XML and and a report definition language for MS SQL reporting services. I downloaded some sample ones from a blog somewhere because they had been customized. I went to deploy them thruough the CRM interface, and I got the following error: An error occurred while trying to add the report to Microsoft CRM. Try adding the report again. If the problem continues, contact your system administrator. The doccumentation on reporting is very poor. I have the SDK (latest version) and all it gives me is a style guide about how to make my fonts math the CRM suppied reports. THIS IS THE LEAST OF MY WORRIES.     - Hide or Delete Protected System Fields in Forms Can I hide or delete protected system fields from a form? When i tried to customize a Quote Product form, i found some fields with a padlock. After that, in the attributes section, in the shipto_line2 field specifically, i changed the requirement level properties value from "required" to "no required".     - crm email - no longer working V1.2 After a security risk was flagged up to our exchange server I made a very small change to our IIS configuration. Namely removing script mapping to .printer. After running and IISreset to ensure that change was applied we have had problems with CRM email. Namely that when you try to send a CRM email you get an error stating that: "An error has occurred. Please contact your system administrator". A referall to the event viewer reveals nothing of interest. A reboot of both the exchange and the CRM servers makes no difference. nor does applying rollup update 2 (on all of client/server/exchange router). I am guessing that I may need to reinstall the exchange router, but having inherited this system pre-installed, I have never had to do that.     - Picking up previous lead owner when assigning a lead May not be seeing the wood for the trees here but... I have created a rule which fires off an email when a lead is assigned - however I would like to be able to pick up the id of the person who did the assigning... the fields list in the lead doesn't seem to have this info - any suggestions?     - Register an Appointment using the outlook interface and CRM 3.0 I want to make an appointment for myself with one contact of one of my account but these contact does not have any email adress. If I use the outlook interface I put the name of the account on regarding but where can I put the required or attendees persons ? Because thes persons do not have email adress they don't appear in the adress book but I have to mention the name of the person and to link the appointment with this person in the CRM. It seems to be totaly impossible ! It is very frustrating because Microsoft said the the new 3.0 version was better than the 1.2 that we used since last year and that this version was totaly intergated with the CRM It don't seems to be right. Can somebody explain what we have to do to register an appointment via the outlook interface and for that appointment to be correctly linked to CRM ???     - Assign a task using Outllook interface with CRM 3.0 It seem to be impossible to assing a task to another user when you create and manage task within outlook. If I am in outlook and I click ont the task button of the CRM toolbar I can add a regarding (the name of the account for which I have to do the task) and put a subject and a due date But... It is impossible to and a time which is very annoying because the time is used by CRM task It is impossible to use the assing the task to another user with the outlook button "assign task". I receive the message Assigned tasks are not supported in Microsoft CRM.     - subject entity customization seems impossible Hi everybody, I hoped I could change the name of the "subject" entity. However, this entity, as well as other customizable entities does not seem to allow customization of any information that appears on the general tab of the informations menu item. How may I change this name ? I tried another method, namely, "export customization", modify the name in the xml file and then "import customization".     - Updating data in MS CRM from other places Hi all We use relationships extensively but find that when using Advanced Find we can't define the joins necessary to create the set of Contacts required for a marketing list. (I think it would be good if I could save an Advanced Find, and then be able to use that within another Advanced Find - like a sub-query - but that's another matter). Anyway, as a quick solution, I have used queries in MS Access to identify the list of Contacts required. I have customised, adding a new field to the Contact table, and want to be able to set this field from in MS Access on those Contact rows I've identified - I can then use Advanced Find over this field, and build the marketing list I want. However, it won't let me I guess because they're non-updateable filtered views in Access ... Can anyone tell me the easiest/best workaround for this? We have Scribe (although not experienced) and of course I could go to Enterprise Manager and run the UPDATE query in there - want to avoid this if possible.     - Error when using Workflow assembly I created an assembly and added the reference to the workflow.config file. I stopped and started the IIS and the workflow service. Then I created a workflow rule that uses the new assembly. However when the workflow starts to run I generate an error on the workflow monitor saying that the dll appears to be an unsigned assembly which is disabled from executing as specified in workflow.config.     - 3.0 Laptop Client Install Failing Having a heck of a time getting the Outlook client to install on any of the client machines. Starting with a single notebook, I get the following error when installing from SBS or directly from the CD. An incompatible version of the Microsoft CRM desktop client for Outlook or the Microsoft CRM laptop client for Outlook is already installed on this computer: Product: Microsoft CRM laptop client for Microsoft Office Outlook, Version: 3.0.5300.0, User: . Before continuing the current installation, remove the incompatible version. All other test are green checked. 3.0 is the only version ever to be installed on this notebook. I have never gotten the client to show up in Add Remove Programs. The only CRM reference on the notebook is the MSDE SQL CRM that I have uninstalled/reinstalled numerous times. I also have tried removing all registry lines containing 3.0.5300 in them and those referencing CRM. In addition the Microsoft SQL and Microsoft CRM folder are deleted before each reinstall attempt. I don't know why, even if something was missed in the registry, the program will not allow an overinstall of the same version......? Any help would be appreciated. There have been 3 clients installed so far without issue, only this machine is causing headaches. The installation goes ahead without issue, but when you open outlook for the first time it appears to hang and becomes non responsive. I let it run for almost two hours only to find by looking at the network card that there has been 4Gb sent and 8Gb received. The database itself has around 5000 records (made up of leads, accounts, contacts,etc...), but the user I am installing for has a mailbox of just over 2Gb (I only do crm for this company, actual IT support is handled by someone else). The laptop is brand new and the user has had it for around a month without having any problems. I will be back on the clients site in a few hours, until then I do not have any log files or anything, just wanted to see if someone else had a similar issue.     - Add a Picklist to a Contact Address form in the metadata attribute I am trying to add a picklist item called country to the contacts address. I have already added it to the entity address. I then went to the attribute table and created two records that follow the format of shipping methods two records. One for the Code Value and the other for the name of the value selected in the picklist. Next I went into the settings and then contact entity and clicked on attributes and found my picklist for country was there. If I double clicked on the picklist it does not have a display name or any values. If I try to add a display name and save it I get an error because I am missing records that attach this picklist with the one in address table. I checked the other tables in the metadata database and there does not seem to be any other table I need to add records to. What other tables do I need to add records to and how can I get my custom picklist on the contact for country to tie to the picklist on the address table. What is the schema layout to support the entities and the forms for these entities? I know what I am wanting to do is unsupported but I need country and state as picklist for the contact and Account.     - Object refererence & user manager Like many here I've been pulling my hair out trying to get CRM upgraded from 1.2 to 3.0. I'm gettting closer I think but now when I open configuration manager and navigate to the the user manager node, I get an error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" It appears to happen when the list of configured users is being populated and the list remains blank. When I try to add a user, the progress bar indictaes that 1 of X users is being configured and configuration manager closes altogether. The licenses node indicates that three licenses are installed. When I open the site in IE, I get an authentication error no matter what account I use that was previously configured for 1.2. Is there a way to mnually remove te 3 licenses and their associated users so that maybe user manager will populate properly? All users have first and last names. Any other thoughts? TIA!
