    - Fix CRM Integration for Outlook I do not want this to sound like a rant, but I really want to poll the group to guage if everyone is experiencing the same issues as I have and hopefully offer MS some constructive critism if there is a concensus. I have been implementing CRM since v1.0, from small to large implementations and while I believe Dynamics CRM is a great platform for managing business information and processes, one consistant annoyance is the fact that CRM's greatest selling feature is also its greatest area of headaches. I am talking about CRM for Outlook. I find that at most, if not all my clients there is at least one, if not more installations of CRM for Outlook that will have issues such as "Toolbar is disabled", "Problem with CRM add-in" to Outlook.exe just not shutting down, etc, etc When I do a follow up with a customer after an implementation, a very typical response is, "this is great, we are tracking information, we like the reports, but we are finding we are getting some CRM error messages in Outlook..." Overtime some of these issues get resolved (thank you v3c and Rollup 2!) However I am greatly disappointed to see now with CRM 4.0 we are taking a step back and starting to get the same error messages quite regular again. I had a customer try CRM live and gave it up after week. He liked it but his reason for going to Goldmine (ick) was "too many mini-crashes with Outlook, I can't have that" Yes, I have tried the diagostic tool and found that it really doesn't give much helpful information. Part of my process to alleviate these issues is ensuring all latest service packs are installed, I apply latest rollups (for CRM 3) and strongly suggest that the customer use the "workstation" client as opposed to "offline enabled", plus other suggestions as posted in these newgroups or partnersource. However I still find that there are consistantly issues where MS "resolutions" are not realistic. (Some people just do not want to clean up their 5 gig OST/PST file!) I am currently in the process of upgrading a client from CRM 3 to CRM 4, and as of this moment *all* workstation's CRM toolbars are crashing, currently have a case logged, but is the spark that made me write this post. To be fair, I have tried other Outlook plug-ins, and have noticed similiar things, so this may not specifically be a CRM issue, but an Outlook one, but you would think the CRM dev team should have some kind of inside track or influence? What I am looking for is if there is anyone out there with at least 5 CRM projects under their belt that can honestly say that they are having NO issues with the CRM for Outlook component, and what they are doing to ensure that? And what I suggest to Microsoft is to take a serious look at this issue and not just "band-aid" it. Unfortunately I am seeing customer confidence dropping with CRM specifically because of the Outlook issue, which is a shame because I think CRM is a great solution.     - Offline Email Tracking Not Working Hello, We are running with version 4.0. We are using the forward mailbox and email router for every user. If the user has their CRM offline and they send a tracked email, the returned emails are not automatically tracked, even though they have the tracking token in the subject line.     - Improve Quick Find (Search) Performance Hello, We are running with Version 4.0. We track a lot of emails into our system regarding different entities. We currently have 8,475 emails tracked in the system, which has only taken about 4 months to get that many. When we use the Quick Find or Advanced Search for emails, the CRM client will often times lock up for up to 20-30 seconds while searching. We have 1 CRM server and 1 SQL server in production.     - MS CRM 4 - External access - IFD - DNS - need more detail I have upgraded from v3 to V4 on our SBS 2003 R2 network. I read the MS IFD docs and installed and ran the IFD tool. I followed as best I could some examples posted here but when trying to open the web client remotely I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". The Outlook client and web work fine on our internal network. SBS RWW works fine from the outside. We are using dyndns for this site so I'm not sure how DNS might be configured in this case. I don't understand how the subdomain used when connecting from outside relates to the DNS server on the SBS server. I created a forward lookup zone alias (CNAME) but don't see how that helps reach the site from outside I'm also what if a port need to open on our firewall. Right now I don't have port 80 open. Is it customary to use 2525 ? I saw that port in an example in the documentation. If the IFD tool has been run is it still necessary to modify permissions or edit the registry? The IFD doc recommends using fiddler to create test pages and place them in the root of the CRMWeb folder. Is that done using the sandbox feature?     - CRM 4.0 Upgrade Installation - CRM Database - Device Not Ready Err I am attempting to perform an upgrade from CRM 3.0 to CRM 4.0. My CRM Server is on SERVER01 My CRM Database Server is on SERVER02 My Reporting Services Database Server is on SERVER03 I get to the point where it is validating the install. When it comes to the Microsoft CRM Database, I get an alert that says "Device Not Ready" and it hangs. I checked the event log, and I see the following error message: Failed to connect to server.     - CRM 4.0 SDK Web Services, 401 Authentication Issues I'm trying to use the SDK to develop some custom pages that will be used as Iframes in CRM 4.0. So I think that somewhere along the call to the production box, my windows credentials are getting lost?     - Some offline data missing I have a CRM 3.0 installation with rollup #2 applied and I have a remote user with the laptop client installed that is experiencing a difference with what data he sees online versus online. for example, looking at the activity history for a given account, while online, he sees a total of 10 entries and while offline only sees 6. I have checked and he obviously has ownership of the account as well as the activites and searched Microsoft's hotfix page for possible solutions and haven't found any as of yet. Any ideas?     - CRM 3 Syncronization Mess A new user in CRM. I imported his 500 contacts that were in Outlook to CRM. I setup the sync for contacts and it then duplicated EVERY contact from CRM into Outlook contacts. I then had to delete everything from outlook. I then tried to sync the contacts that were in CRM to Outlook, but nothing would sync. I modified the local data setting to sync contacts "owned by me" and nothing would sync. My contacts in CRM sync fine to my Outlook contacts with no issue. Since Outlook's contacts has a company name field and CRM's does not (HUGE HUGE PAIN MICROSOFT), I have had to use the Department field in CRM as the company name. 1) Why do my new CRM contacts sync to OUtlook and his do not when our sync settings are identical? 2) Why is it adding all the contacts when they already exist in Outlook? The sync only seems to work when all the contacts exist in Outlook, but it adds new ones, instead of updating the existing one. Once we sync'd once on this person's outlook, all his contacts then got deleted off of his blackberry (Blackberry Enterprise sync's from the user's local contacts).     - user unable to see global email templates Can a user in some business unit use email templates ('global' or organization wide, entity related), even if these were made by someone in another business unit ? Our Account Managers (BU Sales) can view all email templates (except the personal ones belonging to other users), but they can only use the ones made by someone in their BU.     - SSRS, Sharepoint and CRM 4.0. I've installed SSRS in native mode, installed CRM 4.0 and the CRM 4.0 Reporting. This installed all the reports into the native reportserver database. Now after installing Sharepoint some month later I learned that the SSRS cannot be in native mode and I need to create a new reportserver database. If I do this I loose all the reports belonging to CRM 4.0, which resides in the old reports database. Can I uninstall the CRM 4.0 Reports and then reinstall after adding the ned reports database ?     - issue sending direct E-Mail I am not able to send direct emails from our CRM 3.0 deployment. - We use an SMTP service - Sending email for a spceific account works fine.     - Lookup / Search Address from Contact Form It would be useful if, when creating or editing a contact that has a parent record, you could select one of the addresses that is linked to the parent record as the main address for this contact. Ideally it wouldn't default to the main address of the parent, but instead give an option of which address to link to when creating a contact that is linked to an account.     - CRM Email Tracking Troubleshooting/Logging Can anyone shed any light on how to troubleshoot email tracking issues in CRM. We have several users who have no issues and others who have to manually resolve every reply they receive to a valid contact in CRM. I see this is a heavily asked question here in 1 form or another so my question is what steps can we take to see what is going on and how to solve this? What would be great/ideal: When you click â??Track in Crmâ?? in Outlook a log entry is created in CRM somewhere such as Stage 1. Tracking record attempted to be created â?? matching token used (email address: bgates@microsoft.com). Stage 2 (Success): Matching token found (Contact: Bill Gates bgates@microsoft.com) Stage 2 (fail): Matching token not found (Checked Contact and Account tables for matching email â?? no match found). Contact must be manually resolved to correct record. If this information was stored in the database or a log file somewhere that we could review and see what the issue is this would really help resolve this. Maybe this info is logged somewhere and if so please direct us to how to find it or enable it for troubleshooting and resolution of this important issue.     - Users can give themselves any roles I've got a custom role that has read only (user only) access to user settings. This user role does not have assign role privilege. However, If I go to personalize workplace on the general tab I can click on "view your user profile here" and once on the user screen I can give myself any role I want, which is obviously not good at all Is this a CRM problem?     - Error when doing several accesses to CRM at the same time Hello, I'm running an application that has to import several contacts from a ERP into MS CRM 3.0. I call CRM's Web Services in order to do so, and then, since I do that with a user from my root BU, I have to share the entity with other businessunits (via WS aswell) for them to have access to it. Everything works fine.... Except when my importer has several threads working, when it does, sometimes (looks random) crm internally crashes (thats what I found after debugging) sometimes when trying to share, others when trying to create. I once had this problem, tried to solve it and when I tried to have SQL Server (2005), Shared Memory disabled, everything was better and I wouldn't get the error. Now, after 3 month, even with Shared Memory disabled, I started getting the error, much more often. Does it have anything to do with simultaneous accesses to CRM (or CRM->SQL ?!?). Anyone has any clue about how to solve it, or any other ideas? Thanks in advance.     - Error inside CRM While Granting Access Hello, I'm running an application that has to import several contacts from a ERP into MS CRM 3.0. I call CRM's Web Services in order to do so, and then, since I do that with a user from my root BU, I have to share the entity with other businessunits (via WS aswell) for them to have access to it. Everything works fine.... Except when my importer has several threads working, when it does, sometimes (looks random) crm internally crashes (thats what I found after debugging) sometimes when trying to share, others when trying to create. I once had this problem, tried to solve it and when I tried to have SQL Server (2005), Shared Memory disabled, everything was better and I wouldn't get the error. Now, after 3 month, even with Shared Memory disabled, I started getting the error, much more often. Does it have anything to do with simultaneous accesses to CRM (or CRM- >SQL ?!?). Anyone has any clue about how to solve it, or any other ideas? Thanks in advance. While deploying multiple database(s) to a single instance of SQL via
CRM deployment manager, how via deployment manager can you verify
which database corresponds to the organization. I see friendly name,
and server name, but I do not see database. I ran the diagnostic
utility to verify which one my installation was using, but I wanted to
find out where this information would normally be available. This was
available in deployment manager in 3.0, and although it was not needed
then it seems like it would be very needed for 4.0.
