Customizing Pick list values in forms
We are having trouble seeing our changes to forms and
their pick list values. We have added the custome values
in system customizations and saved them but when we go
into CRM we don't see the values we added to the drop
down. Do we need to "publish" these changes some way. I'm
sure it is something simple we are missing I'm just not
seeing it. An example would be under leads. We want to add
customized lead sources to the field under the details tab. Tag: Default value for a field in the create form Tag: 4005

making money
IMPORTANT: This is not a rip-off; it is not indecent; it
is not illegal; and it is virtually no risk -- it really
works! If all the following instructions are Adhered to,
you will receive extraordinary dividends. PLEASE NOTE;
Please follow these directions EXACTLY, and $50,000 or
more can be Yours in 20 to 60 days. This program remains
successful because of the honesty and integrity of the
participants. Please continue it's success by carefully
adhering to the instructions. You will now become part of
the Mail Order business. In this business your product is
not solid and tangible, it's a service. You are in the
business of developing Mailing Lists. Many large
corporations are happy to pay big bucks for quality
lists. However, the money made from the mailing lists is
secondary to the income, which is made from people like
you and me asking to be included in that list. Here are
the 4 easy steps to success: Step 1: Get 6 separate
pieces of paper and write the following on each Piece of
paper: 'PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST." Your name
and Address, and $1.00 bill. What you are doing is
creating a service. THIS S ABSOLUTELY LEGAL! You are
requesting a legitimate service and You are paying for
it! Like most of us, I was a little skeptical and little
Worried about the legal aspects of it all. So I checked
it out with U. S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they
confirmed that it is indeed legal! Mail the 6 envelopes
to the following addresses: #1)A. Laskowska P.O. BOX 714
Green River, WY 82935 #2) A. Warren Russell 540 Logan
St. Green River, WY 82935 #3) F. Rodriquez P.O. Box 107
Schertz, Tx 78154 #4) Jason Gillenwater 1201 Falls Creek
Landing New Albany,IN 47150 #5)Patrick Lanier 4110 Pebble
Ridge Circle Apt. 4 Colorado Springs Co. 80916
#6) Johnny Staffiles
P.O. BOX 970
Oneco, FL 34264
STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see
above, move the Other names up (6 becomes 5, 5
becomes 4 , etc.) and add YOUR name as number 6 on the
list. STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to
keep this article as close to the original as possible.
Now, post your amended article to at least 200
Newsgroups. (I think there are close to 2.4 million
groups) All you need is 200, but remember, the more you
post, the more money you make! This is perfectly legal!
If you have any doubts, refer to Title 18 Sec. 1302 &
1341 via the Postal lottery laws. You can find Title 18
Sec. 1302 & 1341 via www.findlaw.com. Keep a copy of
these steps for yourself and, whenever you need money,
you can use it again, and again. PLEASE REMEMBER that
this program remains successful because of the honesty
and integrity of the participants and by their carefully
adhering to the directions. Look at it this way. If you
are of integrity, the program will continue and the
money that so many others have received will come your
way. NOTE: You may want to retain every name and address
sent you, either on a \computer or hard copy and deep the
notes people sent to you. This VERIFIES that you are truly
providing a service. (Also, it might be a good idea to
wrap the $1 bill in dark paper to reduce the risk of mail
theft.) Remember: Close adherence to the directions are
required to maintain Legality for your program. So, as
each post is downloaded and the Directions carefully
followed, six members will be reimbursed for their
Participation as a List Developer with one dollar each.
Your name will move up the list geometrically so that
when your name reaches the #1 Position you will be
receiving thousand of dollars in CASH! What an
opportunity for only $6.00 ($1.00 for each of the first
six people listed Above) Send it now, add your own name
to the list and you're in business! DIRECTIONS FOR HOW
TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS Step 1: You do not need to retype
this entire letter to do your own Posting. Simply put
your cursor at the beginning of this letter and drag Your
cursor to the bottom of this document, and select "copy"
for the edit Menu. This will copy the entire letter into
the computer's memory. Step 2) Open a blank 'notepad"
file and place your cursor at the top of the blank page.
From the "edit" menu select "paste." This will paste a
copy of the letter into notepad so that you can add your
name to the list. Step 3) Save your new notepad file as
a .txt file. If you want to do your posting in different
settings, you'll have this file to go back to. Step 4)
Use Netscape or Internet explorer and try searching for
various Newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat
sites, discussions). Step 5) Visit these message boards
and post this article as a new Message by highlighting
the text of letter selecting paste from the Edit
menu.Fill in the Subject, this will be the header that
everyone sees, as they scroll through the list of
postings in a particular group, click the Post message
button. Your done with your first one!
Congratulations...THAT'S IT. All you have to do is jump to
different newsgroups and post away, after You get the
hang of it, it will take about 30 seconds for each
newsgroup! **REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU IN, THE;
MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE! BUT YOU HAVE TO POST MINIMUM OF
200** That's it! You will begin receiving money form
around the world within days! You may eventually want to
rent a PO Box due to the large amount of mail, you will
receive.If you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a
name to use, as long as the postman will deliver it.
**JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT** Now the
WHY part: Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5
replies (a very low example). So then I made $5.00 with
my name at #6 on the letter. Now, each of 5 persons who
just sent me $1.00 make the MINIMUM 200 posts, each with
my name at #5 and only 5 persons respond to each of the
original 5, that is another $25.00 for me, now those 25
each make 200 MINIMUM posts with my name at #4 and only 5
replies each, I will bring in an additional $125.00! Now,
those 125 persons turn around and post the MINIMUM 200
With my name at #3 and only receive 5 replies each, I
will make an additional $626.00! OK, now here is the fun
part each of those 626 persons post a MINIMUM 200 letters
with my name at #2 and they each only receive 5 Replies,
that just make me $3125.00! Those 3,125 persons will all
Deliver this message to 200 newsgroups with my name at #1
and if still ONLY 5 persons per 200 newsgroups react I
will receive $15,625.00! With an original investment of
only $6.00! AMAZING! When your name is No longer on the
list, you just take the latest posting in the newsgroups,
And send out another $6.00 to names on the list, putting
your name at POSTION #6 again. The thing to remember is:
do you realize that thousand of people all over the world
are joining the Internet and reading These article
everyday? JUST LIKE YOU are now!! So, can you afford
$6.00 and see if it really works?? I think so.. People
have said. "what if the plan is played out and no one
sends you the money? So What! What are the chances of
that happening when there are tons of new honest users and
new honest people who are joining the Internet and
newsgroups everyday and are willing to give it a try?
Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, every day,
with thousand of those joining the actual Internet. Think
about it, it's only $6.00 bucks! If it doesn't work, What
have you really lost? A few bucks that you probably
would have spent on a lottery ticket that Has even harder
odds to win at! Remember, play FAIRLY AND HONESTLY and
this will really work . Tag: Default value for a field in the create form Tag: 3994

Sales For Outlook (ISV Integration)
Hello, I have gone through the ISV integration for browser client but
actually
just putting my hands in the sales for outlook client. So, I need to ask
some
basic questions...
i- My understanding is that there is a built-in Addin provided with the
sales for outlook client and we are not allowed to perform any ISV
integration in it. Is it right?
ii - If the answer to above question is correct, can we just customize it to
some extent? If so, how much.
iii - To integrate ISV in it, do I need to write my own Addin for outlook,
if this is the only solution for now..... I will appreciate any basic steps
towards it. Or a link from where I can get some help.

CDFMigrationTool No Longer Working for Me?
We just completed our testing efforts of MS CRM and as a
result, decided to restore the 4 CRM databases (_MSCRM,
_METABASE, _CRMCRYSTAL, _MSCRMDISTRIBUTION) back to
a 'clean' state. Apparently, the restoration files
captured the databases in a state prior to running the
migration tool to import our contacts from the CDF
database into the CRM database(s).
I've tried to run the migration tool several times now
after the databases were restored, but it appears that
nothing is being migrated. The time it takes for the tool
to finish running now is extremely shorter than what it
took for the intial (and successful) migration.

Help with ActionParameters
I'm not sure how many people out there are using the SDK with CRM, but this
is a question for those who are. I'm trying to learn about Workflows; more
specifically about programming them through the SDK. What I'm trying to do
is create a workflow which, upon the creation of an account, updates the
email address to some other value. This is purely academic and I'm only
doing this so I can get a better understanding of workflows and the SDK,
etc.
I've ran into a snag, however, in trying to add a parameter to my Action.
Currently I've created the Process (process.Create()), created the Step
(process.CreateStep()), created the Action (process.CreateAction()), and now
I'm trying to add Parameters. One of the XML elements for a parameter has a
value that is also an XML string (the XML for the new value of the
EmailAddress1 field for the Account that's being updated). See the C# below
....
============================================================================
=====
System.Text.StringBuilder query= new System.Text.StringBuilder(79);
query.Append("<account>");
query.Append("<emailaddress1>MyFrickinEmailAddress@me.com</emailaddress1>");
query.Append("</account>");

{
System.Text.StringBuilder parameter3XML= new
System.Text.StringBuilder(105);
parameter3XML.Append("<wfparameter>");
parameter3XML.Append(" <name>EntityXML</name>");
parameter3XML.Append(" <actionid>"+actionID+"</actionid>");
parameter3XML.Append("
<parametertypecode>"+Microsoft.CRM.Flags.WORKFLOW_PARAMETER_TYPE.WFPM_VALUE.
ToString()+"</parametertypecode>");
parameter3XML.Append("
<datatype>"+Microsoft.CRM.Flags.WORKFLOW_DATA_TYPE.WFDT_XML.ToString()+"</da
tatype>");
parameter3XML.Append(" <value>"+query.ToString()+"</value>");
parameter3XML.Append(" <orderofevaluation>3</orderofevaluation>");
parameter3XML.Append("</wfparameter>");
process.CreateActionParameter(userAuth,parameter3XML.ToString());
}
catch(System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException err)
{
Console.WriteLine("ErrorMessage: " + err.Message + " " +
err.Detail.OuterXml + " Source: " + err.Source );
return;
}
============================================================================
=====
When I send the parameter to the CRM server
(process.CreateActionParameter()), I get the following exception back -

I've narrowed it down to the fact that I'm sending an xml string along as
the parameter to my value element, but I don't know how else to do it than
the way I currently am. I don't understand why CRM is choking on this! ANY
feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Escalating issues to managers
In the Microsoft CRM User's Guide (help file included with the CRM
Implementation Toolkit), there is a topic titled "Using Workflow Processes
and Rules" from which I am reading the following excerpt:
You can use Microsoft® Business Solutions Customer Relationship Management
(Microsoft CRM) to automate internal business processes by creating
workflows to carry out routine tasks that involve daily business operations.
These processes can be designed to ensure that the right information gets to
the right people at the right time, and help participants keep track of the
steps they have to take to complete their work. Your managers can define,
automate, and enforce specific business rules, policies, and procedures.
Microsoft CRM can automatically escalate overdue service requests, alert
salespeople about pipeline management issues, and alert the sales force
about key events.
Microsoft CRM Workflow tools enable you to:
a.. Define business policies based on established processes.
b.. Ensure that customer commitments are met.
c.. Automatically escalate issues to management when required.
d.. Level workloads across teams and territories.
e.. Manage key business policies and procedures.
f.. Ensure a consistent service process.
I am specifically interested in the sections that say that "Microsoft CRM
can automatically escalate overdue service requests..." and that Microsoft
CRM Workflow tools enable you to "Automatically escalate issues to
management when required." I have found no documentation anywhere else on
how to do this, and I have found no other references to escalation in
Microsoft CRM on the web or in this newsgroup. I also saw no way to do this
with the functionality provided by the Workflow Manager. Has anyone else
set up escalation rules in Microsoft CRM? (Ideally, we would like to
escalate overdue user activities to the user's manager.)

Time-Based Wait in Workflow Manager
I want to automatically create a task for an opportunity 1 day before an

there are several fields with datetime datatype in the Opportunity schema,
so I expected these fields to appear as options in the time-based wait as
well. Any suggestions?

CRM - your opinions please!
Hi,
There seems to be hundreds of CRM software packages out there. I am trying
to understand what makes a good CRM package. My motivation for asking is
that I am vaguely thinking of writing my own CRM package, but I need to find
out more about user requirements.
Please can you answer some quick questions for me!? Thanks!
1/ What "non-Microsoft" CRM software have you used - what did you think of
it? - and do you have a URL for it?
2/ How do you think Microsoft CRM compares to competitor products? What
does it have that the others dont, and/or lack which the others have?
3/ What are the 3 (or more?) important key features that you need in CRM
software?
Even a brief reply would be helpful to me!
Thanks!

Going Wireless
We are a small business, presently using laptops and
running Windows 2000 Professional. We developed a
proprietary program using Microsoft Access in Office 97,

worldwide as email attachments. The receiving office then
downloads the files so as to become part of that

can successfully connect to the Internet using a SOCKS
proxy server. Outlook Express for Sun Solaris is unable
to use a SOCKS proxy server.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft

use to monitor the SOCKS proxy server may not report any
requests by Outlook Express."
I don't know what to do with this information and it has
me concerned that they only list the help for a program
we aren't using. Can anyone explain this to me? We
recently upgraded the computer from win 98 to 2000 NT.
Thank you

Customizing Crystal Reports
Hello. I am trying to customize the default CRM reports to include
parameter fields which will allow users to view a specific subset of data.
I am able to customize the report and when I open the report from CRM it
correctly prompts me for the parameters. However when I hit "View Report"
the following error is returned:
"Error encountered by Crystal PageServer The error message returned is:
File c:\inetpub\wwwroot\viewrpt.cwr not found. [On Cache/Page Server:
CRM2.pageserver]"
Thanks for any suggestions. Tag: Default value for a field in the create form Tag: 3853
Task ownership changes when assigning opportunities
We have a sales process that assigns tasks to different people for a
single opportunity. For example, one person might be responsible for a
phonecall confirming an appointment with the opportunity while the other
person might be responsible for a task to meet with the customer. Let me
see if I can simplify an example of a problem we are encountering:
Opportunity X is owned by User A
Sales process creates Task 1 for Opportunity X and Task 1 is assigned to
[owner] (which is User A)
Sales process creates Task 2 for Opportunity X and Task 2 is assigned to
User B
User A assigns Opportunity X to User C (through the standard web client)
So now...
Opportunity X is owned by User C
Task 1 for Opportunity X is owned by User C
Task 2 for Opportunity X is owned by User C
Our problem is that we expected Task 1 to now be owned by User C (which it
is), and for Task 2 to remain with User B (which it is NOT.) Is this
functionality by design? Does the same thing happen for all objects (Leads,
Accounts, etc.) in the system that are assigned to another user? Is there
any way to force tasks to remain with the same owner even if the object
associated with the task changes ownership?

Repost: Crystal License error - need help
Does anyone know where the IWAM_<computer_name> account password is being
used by Crystal Reports? In my case I am getting logon errors for this
account in the event log every time I try to access the reports.
I have installed MSCRM on a Small Business Server 2000 box and I have gotten
just about everything working except for the reports.
When I try to access the reports I get the error about not enough crystal
licenses. I saw the section in the implementation guide about this error
but it doesn't seem to apply since the SBS2K box is an AD DC.
Looking at the event logs it looks like the primary issue is logging in the
IWAM_<server_name> account.
Where does Crystal store this password? Incidentally the CrystalAdmin
application crashes and will not allow the password to be changed. What
type of account is this talking about? Is it a domain user account, a sql
account or what?
Any help would be appreciated.

You can default a picklist value with out of the box
customization but that's it.
