Task Synchronization with Outlook client
I have just installed the outlook client and it is attempting to sync
tasks. I have 80,000 completed tasks and don't want all of those

CRM Install error caused by SRS/MOSS integration?
Doing an install of CRM 4.0 in a development environment running SQL 05 and
MOSS 07, each on its own virtual machine. The pre-installation checklist
returns only one error, which is a 401: Unauthorized error when trying to
access SRS. Trying to browse directly to the report server or report manager
while on the application machine results in an access denied error again. On
the SQL machine, where SRS is installed, browsing to the report server brings
it up without issue. However, when I browse to the report manager site, I
get the error:
â??The operation is not supported on a report server that is configured to run
in SharePoint integrated mode. (rsOperationNotSupportedSharePointMode)â??
Installed on the SQL machine is the SharePoint Integration for SRS piece
which is what Iâ??m guessing is causing this problem. Has anyone run into this
problem? I have found a lot of information about the error code but not
about installing with the environment set this way. Do I need to install SRS
to another machine as well and use that instead? Or would uninstalling the

Outlook Add in toolbar doesnt appear when i open the mail message
Hi all...
I have installed Outlook Add in on Office 2003 on a few computers.
It works on all of them but there is one comuter which the installation
works well and the Outlook Add in isntalls fine.
However, when i try to open a message so i can assign it to a CASE, then i
cannot see the "Track in CRM" and the "Regarding" button and there is no way
to add the toolbar of the Microsoft CRM.
Did anyone experiance this and knows how to solve it?

I'm just installed CRM 4.0 and the Outlook Client on Outlook 2007. When I
start Outlook I get the following error:

Phone Call Errors in CRM 4.0
Hi All,
Got a couple of errors in a recent upgrade from CRM 3.0 to CRM 4.0. The
upgrade
went smoothly and all users are logging on fine.
Problem one:- Users when accessing the phonecall entity and saving, the
screen is coming up with CRM encountered an Error send report to microsoft
(but still saving the record) - is this a db permissions issue?
Problem two:- When creating a new appointment the resources and accounts
fields are greyed out.

CRM 3.0 Workflow Manager app freezing
Our CRM 3.0 server's Workflow Manager app started freezing up for no
particular reason. No errors in the Event Log, the processor, memory,
and hard drive are all nice and calm, and the only way to fix it is a
complete reboot of the server. It's started happening more and more
and the app is more or less no longer usable.
Any thoughts on what to do other than a complete remove and rebuild of
CRM on the machine?

I verified that according to KB938065 the error stack trace starts with

I closely observed that duting the Synchronization process the file in BCP
folder was not growing in size as expected only for the EMail Attachments
data group. The file in BCP folder was increasing for other entities (Email
messages). I didn't quite understand what the issue would be.

How to Analyze Microsoft CRM 3.0 Performance Testing
Hi,
I have done the performance testing for Microsoft CRM 3.0. I have used
Visual Studio 2005 Team System development environment.
1. I created a web test with a scenario (login to CRM Server -> Go to
contacts -> Create a new Contact -> Open the created contact -> create a case
for the contact and Save). I recorded the webtest. Then I created the
Loadtest with 50 Users for a stipulated time. When I run the Load test, I am
getting the results (Requests/sec, Avg. Response time, Total Requests, failed
requests, cached requests, % processor time, available MBytes etc). But from
this, I am not able to analyze the performance of the application. Is there
any way of analyzing the Results.
2. Our CRM Application is integrated with MOSS. There is a dashboard link
which takes you to share point. I created a web test with another scenario
(login to CRM Server -> Go to Dashboard -> Click on the Contacts -> create a
new contact -> Upload two documents to MOSS). When i run the web test, it is
giving the below error.
a) Request failed: could not find file C:\Testing\.........\testing.txt
b) also in http://localhost/UploadDocuments/UploadDocumentsToMOSS.aspx, it
is giving "Requests not yet submitted"
The tool is not able to load test MOSS Upload screens
It would be great if you could give me a solution to my issues.

Automatic dot in fullname
My client uses the sorting order 'Firstname Initials Lastname'.
The field Initials is not available on the Contactform so my client created
a new field with the label 'Initials' (maybe because they come from version
1.2?).
The result of this action is that every fullname is displayed with a dot
e.g. John . Doe.
My hunch is that the original Initlas field is automatically filled with a
dot even no characters can be entered in the original 'Initials' field.
My questions: is it true that a dot is autmatically filled in the original
Initials field? How can I enable the original Initials field and how can I

CRM 4.0 and Outlook 2007 clients synchronizing forever.
We have installed some Outlook 2007 CRM 4.0 clients and after installing the
CRM client it seems that Outlook 2007 is synchronizing the folders forever.
A total restart of Outlook 2007 on the client computer is the only way to
get it up and running again.
All servicepacks are installed on the client.
Any solution to this problem ?

CRM 4.0 Workflow problems when changing long running workflows.
I've created some long running timeout-workflows which waits for a specific
amount of time after an update is done to my users entity, and then send's
an email to notify the user.
If I unpublish the workflow, makes changes, and publishes it again then the
old instances of the workflow continues running the old workflow, and new
one's are using the new workflow. That is ok, I guess.
My problem is that sometimes the old version of the workflow crashes and
sometimes it is running fine. I've found no reason why it crashes and the
error message only tells me to contact Microsoft.
A possible workaround is to cancel the running instances of a workflow
before changing them and then manually start them again after publishing the
new version. This is a lot of work, so I hope there is another way.

Hi there,
Has anyone done BCM to CRM 4.0 conversion?
Is there a tool exists to transfer data from BCM to CRM 4.0 like it has for
CRM 3.0?
Could you bring the Activity across to CRM 4.0?
The problem with BCM to CRM 3.0 conversion was that it will bring the
activity across but it would not link them back to correct accounts or
contacts records in CRM.
Please let me know if anyone here has done the conversion from BCM to CRM
4.0, the tool that you used and the challenges that you faced.

Track email in CRM - dialog box defaults
When in Outlook and you click "Track in CRM" and you go to set the
"Regarding" field, the search scope defaults to Account. Is there any way to
change this so that it defaults to Contact?
I've been able to change this on other forms by using something like:

However, I'm not sure where I would add javascript to affect this dialog box
that is popped from Outlook.

lock account so account owner cannot edit
I have a client using 4.0 and they have assigned all of the accounts
to the sales person. The problem I am having is that only the sales
asst and system admin can modify the account name, etc. They want the
sales person to be able to do everything else from the open account
such as create a new opportunity, etc. If I remove write from the
role to the account entity, the create new opp box does not appear but
they can access it from another view. Does anyone have any ideas of

Dashboard: Tracking customer satisfaction levels
Dear Community members,
We've got CRM 4.0 running. We'd like to find ways of reporting the quality
of customer service levels from our tech support ( i.e. email support). We've
been infomed to create a "workflow" process to send out an email survey by
email when a case is closed.
What I'd like to achieve is a graph on my Dashboard showing the customer
service levels by "Very Satisfied, Satisfied, Neutral.." Similar to what is
shown on page 3 of the Customer Service - Ms Dynamic PDF brochure.
Does anyone else have any ideas?

How Should I Send Weekly Email to Cleints?
I have 100 Accounts that I would like to send a weekly email to.
What's the best way to do this in CRM 3.0?
I created marketing list and a quick campaign, but i needed to type the
email in each time (no template ability) and then the emails drop into my
Activities and I have to send them one at a time.
Another way I see is to send a Template email to multiple Accounts but then
I have to select the 100 accounts each time (no saved list ability)
Am I missing something? How would you do it?
I'm using the Web client only.

IFD install needed help
Hi,
After facing many errors and difficulties during the CRM 4.0 installation I
successfully installed the product.
Now I am trying to install CRM as IFD. I want to install IFD without any
problems So I have some questions.
What is the SDK root domain and web application root domain mean?
Is the below config file format is alone enough for IFD installation. Is
there anything else i need to look up.??
I went through the MSDN documentation.
Can anyone guide tell me how and what configurations i should use to install

When I start the 4.0 installation Visual C++ runtime is required. I installed
but later aborted the installation. When I restarted the installation I

Does anybody know the best way to configure 3.0 Cases so that if the original
owner/user wants to have an email sent out automatically to another
owner/user when its in essence reassigned to them. This would be after the
original Case was created and had an account as record on the case. We want

Trying to get CRM Contacts to my Treo without being the Owner
Somewhere in Outlook the logic must be to filter non-owned contacts and not
bring those into the Contacts folder of Outlook. I have modified the data
group for My Contacts to include all active contacts and not just contacts
that I'm owner of. I now have all CRM contacts available off-line (because
they are now in my local CRM database). However, if Iâ??m not the owner of the
contact record, even though my data set brings all Contacts down to my local
PC, it seems to be doing the following logic:
â?¢ If the Contact record is owned by me then itâ??s going into BOTH the local
CRM database and the Outlook Contacts folder
â?¢ If the Contact record is NOT owned by me itâ??s only going to the local CRM
database.

Remove Picklist values -- CRM 3.0
I am trying to remove two picklist options provided they are not already
selected. However, the code below removes the picklist options completely.
I found this code on a previous post. I think it was intended to remove one
option on one picklist. I need to remove the same two options for each of
the 5 picklists I have on the form. I am new to programming and JScript, so
I am not sure what I am missing here. I did some research on the SDK as well
as other JScript reference sites and tried various modifications, in an
attempt to make this work, all without success.

Associate/Link one Contact with multiple accounts
Hello,
I want to associate or link a contact with multiple accounts. For some
reason I'm drawing a blank on the best way to do that.
I want to use relationships, but we want to know the title and other
attributes of each contact. I don't think we could do that.
When I'm in an account and want to add 2 contacts from 2 different companies
under contacts I click "add existing contact" I get this error:
"Cannot create relationship because another exists that has a cascading
action"
Is it saying that I need to change the relationship in customization for
this to happen?

To summarize, I follow these steps:
1. Create a case
2. Assign it to a queue
3. Delete the case
The case no longer exists under the customer, but it still appears in the
queue. Opening the case from the queue gives an error like this (detailed
error reporting is on):

I did some investiation in SQL Server Profiler and Management Studio and I
found the query that should be setting the QueueItem DeletionStateCode to 2,
but for some reason the value remains 0 and no writes are shown in the
Profiler for the update query.
The result of this is that there is junk filling up all my queues that
cannot be deleted.
Does this seem like a database corruption issue or a CRM bug? Any ideas on
what steps I should take to resolve this?

Data Migration Manager apparently does not have correct Mappings for
I have been trying unsuccessfully for quite some time to migrate BCM
2007 data to CRM 4.0 via the Data Migration Manager using the existing
mapping for BCM 2007. However, once I am in there, I have to re-map
all data, and even after that, I am unable to successfully import the
data. Has anyone had the same issue, and if so, is there a different

CRM4 - No attribute
Hi,
I have got another "No Attribute" error here and could not understand what
is happening to my system.
I created 2 custom entities with name field only. Published. Created 2
records for each of the custom entities. Later added 1:N (Parent: Child)
relationships between the 2 custom entities. Added Parent Name attribute on
the child form. Published. Attempted to update existing child records form
field "Parent Name" with existing parent record, got an error "No Attribute".
I attempted using "Bulk Edit", from Parent record, add existing child
record, editing individual child record 1 by 1, all failed.
However, I can use exsiting Parent record to create new child records.
I also tested creating a new Parent record and attempt to update the child
record with the new Parent record, failed.

Outlook pop-up blocker when trying to open CRM record

Reports are not working, error 401 Unauthorized
We installed MSCRM 4.0 in one box. Reporting services are installed in
another box. When we try to access reports with an MSCRM user using reporting
services url (http://<reportservername>/reportserver) all the reports are
working fine. But when we try to open the reports from MSCRM window, I am
getting 401 unauthorized error.
Find the below error details loged in event log
Web service request SetParameters to Report Server
http://<reportservername>/Reportserver failed. Error: The request failed with
HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.

CRM4 keeps OL Process open when OL is closed
Hi NG,
right now we have a problem with the combination MS Win Vista, MS Office
Enterprise 2007, CRM 4.0.
When MS Outlook 2007 is closed the process outlook.exe won't close since MS
CRM 4.0 is installed. This occurs only on MS Win Vista (Business)
installation. On MS Win XP it is ok.
The Problem is then, that when the OS is turned off the process is killed.
At next start of MS Outlook 2007 the file check starts (on an 3 GB file it
takes time).
I tested the combination no SP1/Hotfix up to Vista SP1, Office SP1 and
CRM4.0 Hotfix KB948045. No Messenger or Skype when I tested it.
Any suggestions?

service calendar in MS Dynamics 4.0
Does anyone knows how we can achieve the following requirement with MSCRM 4.0
In the service calendar in MS Dynamics 4.0 you are able to create new
appointments and service activities. Appointments and Service Activities
which are created will be present in the Service Calendar.
To see all details of such a record[Subject(default Value)] you must open
it. But by moving your mouse on the concerning appointment or service
activity, a text-box-view appears with primary information.
With appointments the content of the following fields is displayed:
'show time as', 'subject', 'start time' and 'end time'
With service activities the content of the following fields is displayed:
'show time as', 'subject', 'start time' and 'end time'
1. What I would like to know is if there is a way to change/add the fields
of which the content is displayed in the mouse-on view?
2. Can I add more fields with the record showing in the Appointments and

customize the Services entity?
Q1. Is it possible to customize the Services entity? For example, to remove
the Scheduling section i.e. Default Duration, Start Activities Every, and
Beginning At.
Q2. Is it possible to customize the Services' Required Resources tab i.e. i
don't want to restrict user to add resources under Selection Rules. When we a
create a schedule it shouls not ask for service? Service and site should be
optional. Service Calendar should automaticallt pick the resources &
equipment without service and site?
Q3. How we set the Selection Rule Quantity and Selection for all service

Multiple Default Public Views after upgrade to 4.0
Hello,
We just finished our upgrade from 3.0 to 4.0. Everything appears to have
upgraded OK, but I noticed right away that the Accounts and Contacts were
defaulting to the wrong views: My Active Accounts vs Active Accounts and My
Active Contacts vs Active Contacts. I went to the Forms and Views settings
and there are two views marked 'Default Public View' for both the Account and
Contact entities. When I try to change the Default Public View to anything
different, Default Public View will move to whatever view I want, but it also
sticks on My Active Accounts too. It seems no matter what I do, there are 2
default public views, and the system is using the one we don't want. Has
anyone had this experience and/or can you pass along any ideas for correcting
it?

New Area created in CRM 3.0 but nav problem
I used the sitemap.xml file to successfully create a new area to our
test CRM 3.0 environment. I've also successfully created several
custom entities that can be accessed from this area. So far, so good.
When I relate these custom entities to the Contact entity, for
example, I can see these custom entities in the Contact form in the
left navigation bar, as expected. *I do not, however, see these
custom entities grouped under the Area name, like other entities
are.* I see Opportunities and Quotes grouped under Sales and Cases
and Contracts grouped under Service. Why are the new custom entities
not grouped under my new Area name?

Import of Quotes under CRM4
I am trying to import Quotes into CRM 4 using the import function. How do
you set the price list and currency on the import file. I pulled the GUID
and set it in the csv file but it still errors out with "not correct format".
An example would really be great.

Organization name going from 3.0 to 4.0
We have migrated our internal 3.0 to 4.0 and have probably hit every error
that came from 1.x to 3.0 to now 4.0. However, we are not able to get the
email router to work. It keeps choking on the proper organization name in the
Configuration Wizard for the load data and proper CRM Server name. We have
loaded it as it looks in the web browser but do have a question.
Our organization name is as follows - and we are being case sensitive.
(Xxxxx Xxxxxxx Xxxxxxx, Inc.) that is what we are typing in and it doesn't
red flag out. However, when we got to Load Data - it does not show the (.)
and no matter which way we slice it - it will not load. We have made sure the

Synchronizing CRM/Outlook when offline
Hi,
I am a Knowledge Manager, I have all these documents about CRM, and I know
pretty much how to spell it, and that's about it.
I had some feed back on one of the articles (that I didn't even write)
saying that you cannot use CRM offline... I've looked all over the CRM
website and from my understanding you sure can.
So, my question: Do you need to have a particular version of MS Outlook, MS
CRM, or a special type of configuration to have offline (a laptop user, like
a sales person, who updates their CRM and they are not connected, the next
time they connect it syncs)?
Where can I find the particulars, or can someone explain it to me in
baby-talk?

CRM 4.0 Outlook Settings/Customization
In the outlook client, I am missing the Customization option when I go to
Settings. I see everything else and I have the proper permissions. I can
get to the Customization option through IE with no problems.
Any ideas how to get this to show up for me?

Microsoft crm 3.0 installation failed
I got the following error when I tried to uninstall the email router.
"Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Exchange.UninstallServiceAction failed
An exception occurred while uninstalling. This exception will be
ignored and the uninstall will continue. However, the application might not
be fully uninstalled after uninstall is complete. Object reference not
set to an instance of an object"
So I ignored the error message and uninstalled the email router. Then
I tried to install the update version of crm email router which I
downloded from following microsoft site.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4 for Outlook cannot be installed
Upon trying to install the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4 for outlook plug-in Iâ??m
receiving the following error message.
"Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4 for Outlook cannot be installed on a computer
where Microsoft Exchange Server versions prior to Exchange Server 2007 are
installed"
I would like to know whether I need to upgrade my Exchange infrastructure to
Exchange 2007 to enable the use of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4 for outlook
plug-in, I canâ??t find any documentation stating that Exchange 2007 is a
pre-requisite or requirement.
