Custom View Joining MULTIPLE Entities

I've seen a couple of posts that indicate it's "possible" to create a query
(which our sales team would use as the source for a view) which pulls data
from multiple entities (e.g. - Account AND Contact), but I haven't seen any
FetchXML examples.

It's a little difficult to see how that type of customization works
"start-to-finish".... Anyone out there with some sample code they're
willing to share??
