Andrew,
Hope you found the solution by now - but here is something to try if
not:
In a nutshell, after moving from one CRM server to another, my
reporting system didn't work. I had to remove the Crystal Input File
Repository Server and the Crystal Output File Repository Server the
Crystal Configuration Manager (CCM), then re-add them, check their
boxes and start the two "servers".

Deleting Servers
Servers Fail to Start
Synopsis
After deleting and re-adding the Crystal Input File Repository Server
and the Crystal Output File Repository Server from the Crystal
Configuration Manager (CCM), when attempting to start the servers they
fail to start.
The following error message is displayed in the Microsoft Event Viewer
Application Log:
"Failed to register with the name server. Reason: The server name
being registered is invalid. There might be another server of this
type registered using the same friendly name."
How do you resolve this issue?
Solution
It was found that the Crystal Input File Repository Server and the
Crystal Output File Repository Server were only deleted from the CCM.
In order to resolve this issue you must delete the servers from both
the CCM and the Crystal Management Console (CMC), then add them once
again to the CE system.
Follow the steps outlined below in order to resolve this issue:
Deleting servers
====================
You must delete the servers from within the CCM and the CMC.
1. Open the CCM (Start > Programs > Crystal Enterprise > Crystal
Configuration Manager).
2. Click the "Crystal Input File Repository Server" to highlight the
selection.
3. Click the "Delete Server" icon in the toolbar to delete the server.
4. Repeat Steps 1-3 for the "Crystal Output File Repository Server".
5. Open the CMC (HTTP://ServerName/crystal/enterprise/admin/default.htm)**
** Replace "ServerName" with the appropriate server name, domain name
or IP address for the web site.
6. Log on as the CE Administrator account using the appropriate user
name and password.
7. Once you have logged on successfully into the CMC, click the
"Servers" icon. This will open the Servers section displaying all the
CE servers available.
8. Select the check box beside all instances of the "Crystal File
Repository Server". Keep in mind that there may be multiple instances
of the "Crystal File Repository Server" for the Input and Output
servers. This is because CE will leave remnants of previously deleted
servers in the CMC if they were only deleted from the CCM.
9. Once all instances of the "Crystal File Repository Server" have
been selected, click the "Delete" icon to delete the servers.
Adding servers
====================
Once you have deleted all instances of the Crystal Input File
Repository Server and Crystal Output File Repository Server, you must
add the servers to the CE system.
1. Open the CCM (Start > Programs > Crystal Enterprise > Crystal
Configuration Manager).
2. Click the "Add Server" icon in the toolbar. This will open the "Add
Crystal Server Wizard" window. Click "Next" to proceed to the
following section.
3. You will be prompted for the "Server Type", "Display Name" and the
"Server Name". For "Server Type" choose the "Crystal Input File
Repository Server". Keep the default value for the "Display Name".
Click "Next" to proceed to the next section.
4. Provide the appropriate APS name for the "APS Name" field. Click
"Next" to proceed to the next section.
5. Click "Finish" to complete the process.
6. The newly added CE server must be enabled. In the CCM, click the
"Enable/Disable Servers" icon.
7. You will be prompted to log on to the APS. Log on as the CE
Administrator account using the appropriate user name and password.
8. Once you have successfully logged on the "Enable/Disable
Serversâ?¦" window will appear, displaying the available CE servers.
9. Select the check box beside the "Input" icon; this will turn the
icon from red to green indicating the server has been enabled. Close
the "Enable/Disable Servers ..." window
10. In the main window of the CCM, right-click the "Crystal Input File
Repository Server" and select "Start" to start the service.
11. Repeat steps 1-10 for the "Crystal Output File Repository Server".
Once you have deleted and added the servers to the CE system, the
servers should now start successfully with no error messages displayed
in the Event Viewer.
