    - Security of CRM 1.2 onwards Is it fair to say that from 1.2 product onwards it is indicated as RECOMMENDED to expose the CRM application to the internet or not? Or should you ONLY access the website via a VPN and NOT from a website exposed to the world wide web?     - MSCRM Mobile I have managed to get CRM Mobile 1.2 up and working on a ViewSonic PPC2003 V37 (had to upgrade the BIOS). Actually it came with VS.NET 2003 FOC :o) Heres my install checklist Certifcates - OK Connection - OK CRM Mob Services - OK PDS fits Mob spec requirements - OK Deployment - all OK Anyway my question is, why can't I see any data no matter how many times I sync in the cradle?     - data structure of knowledge base I need to find the actual data for the knowledge base but when I open the SQL server database and look at the KBarticlebase table about a third of the data I need is there. The articleXML table holds some of the data in XML tags but most of the entries here say <Longtext> . Does CRM store the rest in an XML file or am I overlooking them?     - SFO can't go offline. Hi, I have sync problem or offline problem with Sales with Outlook. My CRM production environments are built by the following: CRM Server: Windows 2003 English + CRM Server 1.2 English SQL Server: Windows 2000 English + SQL 2000 Server English Client: Windows XP Pro English + Outlook 2003 English + CRM Sales for Outlook English When I click the "go offline" button from the CRM toolbar in outlook I got this error message "Unknown error. Please try again later. If the problem persists contact the system administrator". My SFO are working fine with all the function, Lead, Contacts and etc.. In fact, I have applied the MS CRM 1.2 Outlook Enhancement hotfix to my system, but still can't help. I´ve read KBA 831190 from Microsoft describes this problem in CRM 1.0, and it says there that this issue is already solved in CRM 1.2. Do you have any idea on this issue?     - isv.config customization Hi, I have been experimenting with the isv.config file to create links to external websites etc but have a couple of queries. Is it possible to create buttons in the isv.config file to link to various areas of CRM. For example to create a button in the Case window called "Resolve" which would link straight to the Resolve case window, or a button that would allow me to create a phone call with in a case with one click? Another quick question while I'm here: Ive changed the layout of some of the forms in CRM successfully but is it possible to customize the Resolve Case form?     - Install Error - Microsoft XML Core Services not installed We have two Windows Server 2003 machines. ServerAD is a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Domain Controller with Exchange Server 2003 SP1 installed. ServerCRM is a Widows Server 2003 Enterprise Member Server with Server SQL Server 2000 SP3 and Microsoft CRM 1.2 installed. When trying to installing the Microsoft CRM-Exchange E-Mail Router on ServerAD I get the message "Setup has detected that Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) 4.0 SP2 is not installed. Setup cannot continue. Install MSXML 4.0 SP2 and try running setup again." I have met all the requirements listed in the Implementation Guide, page 191, Prerequisite Checklist.I checked ServerCRM Add/Remove Programs and it shows, MSXML 4.0 SP2 Parser and SDK program is installed. The ServerCRM machine also has ACT! 2005 Premium installed. It is a .Net program that installs its own instance of SQL Server.     - Syncing Mobile CRM on the internet Hi Everyone, Ive got a curly question. I am currently testing the capabilities of CRM mobile, and we are wanting to allow remote syncing of data when a person is off site, the same way activesync does for exchange. Now I've got it to work. (Sort of) The big issue is with a split DNS. Internally, when the pocket pc is in the cradle, Initially I couldnt get it to sync with the CRM server ( internally seen as abc.mycompany.com which maps to an internal ip via internal DNS) I had to add *.mycompany.com as a work url exception to get it to work.. Thats all well and good, but now when I am offsite, and connect to the internet via GPRS connection, and open Mobile CRM on the pocket pc and try to sync, it doesnt work. (it keeps popping up with Connection unavailablePlease retry ect, but I can hear lots of data going back and forth, and it does actually send changes, just doesnt receive new ones) If I then go into the work url exceptions, and remove the setting, it will then sync properly, with no "Network unavailable please retry" type errors!     - Error - CRM Setup could not validate SQL Server I am trying to do a reinstall of CRM 1.2 onto an SBS2k3 box. In the uninstall of CRM I left the databases intact as I will be reconnecting the new CRM 1.2 installation to the existing data. When I try the install, I get an error saying : Microsoft CRM Setup could not validate this instance of SQL Server at the "Select SQL Server" screen. I have selected the SQL server from the list (which is local to the machine) and have "Connect to existing databases" (though I get the same error if I select "create new databases"). I saw the previous thread about SQL requiring a reinstall if you have changed domain functional level, however, I wouldn't think that this would apply here, as this was not necessasry - CRM / SQL had been working before this on the machine. any help would be great, thanks Tag: Crystal Installed on CRM Server Tag: 26573

    - Install Problem I have CRM 1.2 and have a server dedicated for this application. I have made the server a DC running Server 2003. I have installed SQL Express. When I try to run the install, I get the error saying that SETUP COULD NOT OPEN A SESSION TO THE INSTANCE OF THE SQL SERVER. This is a brand new install of both the server and SQL.     - Access Security does not work Hello, We are are on CRM 1.2. The security settings don't seem to work fully. For example, I have setup a security role called "Field Sales". One of the access rights is to be able to read only user's own records for accounts and quotes. The icon with only one "pie" on it. But neither seem to be working because users are able to see every account and every quote out there. But if I revoke read access fully, it seems to stop them from seeing quotes and accounts, this is in-line with the documentation. The moment I switch on the read only for user's own records everything is visible to them. There are no teams setup in the system. What is the issue here.     - Websense or Sonicwall and CRM Slowness Just wanting to see if anyone has encountered issues with Websense or Sonicwall slowing down CRM access. We had CRM running fine for a client with Websense and a Sonicwall firewall at one of their locations, but we had to reinstall Websense on their local server (CRM is on a remote server on their WAN). Now a number of the users have painfully slow CRM connections. Some of them it takes 4 minutes to load CRM, and trying to work in it is useless. Has anyone seen anything similar?     - SQL server problem Customer just installed Sophos Anti Virus software on their SBS 2003 server that was running CRM, and now there is a problem with the SFO clients. The Sophos software installs a SQL svr instance. Is there any way of connecting the SFO clients to find the default crm sql svr instance on the server. When I try to run the server sql instance from the client sql svr manager, I get an "access denied" error - presumably because it is unable to cope with the second sql svr instance on the server. I recommended the Sophos to the customer - so don't want to have to now uninstall it.     - Custom Menu - Opening a url and passing field on current form I want to create a button on Oppurtunity Form that opens a url and passes current user as part of the query string. I am able to create the button using isv.config file. Someone had earlier posted code below regarding a similar scenario. 1. they didnt say where to place the htm file. i have saved it in root of crm server...wwwroot when i try to open the url, it gives an error ... 'windows.opener.crmForm' is null or not an object. Does any one know how to fix this ? OR know where to place the htm file so it know what crmForm is ... OR A different way to open a url .. and pass a value from a field on current form.     - Question about Status Reason field I am looking into what the Status Reason field is used for in relation to the Account object. There are two default values, Active and Inactive. I want to add values so that when an Account is inactive, we can state the reason that is inactive. I can add values to the Inactive state without a problem, but then how do I choose any of the values that I defined since when an account is Inactive, I cannot edit any of the fields? I can define a default value, but that again is of no use, because I can't change it. This seems to be a bug or oversight on the part of the CRM developers.     - Queue problem and incoming email directed at crm I have CRM setup in a test domain fine mostly but asides from replies from SFO to a test account, I dont think all aspects of email routing is fine - but the email router must be least part working in order to be able to store CRM history and email out. I could be wrong on this! I can send emails from CRM to the test account ( not a crm user, but has been setup against a account/contact) and they show in the contact activity history. I can see the replies on the CRM test user in SFO (so they get as far as the account used by CRM), but they do not show in CRM against activity for contact. If I promote to CRM it responds that a duplicate MIGHT exist. I believe this should not be necessary anyway?? Surely you should not need SFO in order to promote emails into CRM - but I have seen solution 860941. Per (857239) I have checked that I can reach the site on the email server that should be verification that router install was succesful. It actually brings up a kind of XML format on the browser. The only thing I can think is, that at the MOMENT for lack of IP problems, I have had to configure CRM on 8080. I know this is a problem with the fact generally CRM has been designed as the default web site originally and will want to put it back eventually. Maybe I should test with it back. I have certainly found that MSCRM Mobile doesn't like it one bit. Similarly I have a test queue I have setup to the letter and that does not show either, I can create cases in CRM and assign to the queue - but cannot get emails sent from a test "non" crm user account into the queue. (A test queue user, disabled account, crmemailenabled, and with nominated self mailbox rights etc). Of course I am using an email test customer that exists in the contacts area. I am seeing the same problem as the "replies" aspect so no doubt it comes under the same bracket of problem. Maybe its the port aspect. I was wondering whether the "convert all emails" option as opposed to just those applying to crm contacts might have effect - but how could that for the queue problem since it's pretty much a user setting I believe. I wonder if anyone can shed any light on what the "server end" config bit is here, as either the manual forgot to mention it clearly or I just can't remember. I have certified in MSCRM apps pro and installation course but I'm still finding it a bit much at the moment and need to refresh having just studied and passed the install course (somewhat flushed what I had learnt about apps).     - Outlook Contacts When you install CRM Sales for Outlook all of the existing Contacts are added to your Outlook Contacts. However, unless you then add all new Contacts through the Outlook client, the Outlook Contact list does not stay up to date. Hi Guys, I don't know if i'm asking this in the right place but here goes; I'm an admin seting up Microsoft CRM 1.2 and I want to know if there is any way that i print out some basic details on to a label printer when I create a case, heres the senerio we are an IT company and when small jobs come into the repair shop i want to create the case in in Microsoft CRM 1.2 which will then in turn automaticly print out the case no. along with customer name and contact phone number in plain text to a printer, this label can then be stuck to the PC being repaired also i want the work flow process to send an email to the mobile phone number listed in the contact record and add @sms tis will then send a text message to the customers mobile when the job is complete. So anyone habe any pointers? it doesn't have to be workflow process that does this but that seams the obvious way at the moment but i anyone had a better idea?     - security issue I have it set up so that each department is set up under their own business unit - all are children of one parent unit. My sales reps are only allowed to see what they own or what is shared with them. My Customer Service are allowed to see everything. I need it to be set up so that everyone is allowed to share/assign with everyone. However, when I click on either option I'm only given those that are part of that particular business unit.     - Outlook CRM Plug-in and service manager I am not sure how to do this, but I would assume it can be accomplished...I would like for the user installs of MSCRM Outlook plug-in for the SQL Service Manager to default to the SQL server upon logging onto that machine.     - Stolen Machine Our office was burglarized last night, and one tower was stolen. It had Office 2003 and Windows XP on it, which we purchased. If we were to get another machine, would there be a way to use the license we purchased from MS on the new machine. I have the Office Product Code and CD, but the label for XP Pro was on the tower.     - Import/publish customizations programmatically (for picklist updating, e.g.)? While you can query picklist values with CRMCustomization's RetrievePicklist method, there is no corresponding "setter" method or any other supported way to update those values programmatically. Mainly, I think, this is because picklists are contained in form XSL and thus must be published before taking effect. I can deal with that. I'm still seeking a programmatic solution, unsupported though it may be. The idea actually applies more generally than to just picklists: programmatically publishing customizations. But my immediate need is to periodically -- and automatically -- update picklists in CRM from sources maintained externally. During configuration for our customers we often apply the technique of manually editing (very carefully!) the customizations XML and then importing/publishing that, especially for long picklists and/or those that appear in multiple forms (e.g., state and country picklists to replace the standard text fields). My complete programmatic solution would incorporate this: 1) export customizations, 2) modify the customizations XML, then 3) import/publish those customizations.     - changing SQL database location Hello newsgroup! Does anybody know if and how it's possible to change the database location of an existing CRM installation? I couldn't find any suitable information regarding this topic. We've made an export of the 4 existing CRM databases, imported them into a new SQL server on different hardware, configured all permissions that we could figure out and changed the SQL server name within the CRM configuration. When starting CRM web console, all available items can be seen and read, but neither a change of an existing entry nor a new entry of whatever kind is possible. A message pops up "Error. Please contact your system administrator". Nothing more that would tell where to look for the problem. Does anybody know what needs to be done to get it running? Is it possible anyway? What happen if by mistake we install Crystal report on
the CRM server? Can we just uninstall an re-install on
another machine? It could be cause more problem?
