From my investigation, it appears this is an Outlook feature and bug. The
Outlook feature creates a reoccurring appointment for Contact's Birthdays
and Anniversaries. There is currently a bug in Outlook to give the user a
way to shut off this feature. If you look at the appointments created by
this feature, they are not tracked in CRM.
There is another potential bug here, where if you change the birthday or
anniversary date, a new set of reoccurring appointments is created, without
deleting the previous set of reoccurring appointments. This potentially may
be part of the issue you are seeing. I will investigate this one further
and bug as appropriate.
