Trimming Sync Data for SFO
We are actively reorganizing into several smaller child BU's for our
organization and would hope that this will result in shorter sync times for
the SFO users. Does anyone know if this will be the case? Each SFO user in
the child BU will only have read priviledge to the BU level (pretty much all
priviledges stop at the child's BU level).
So will this limit the data being replicated??? Tag: Citrix webclient and appointments in Outlook Tag: 37567
Email templates and attachments
Did I read somewhere that this was coming?
If not, can I add my bit about including an attachment with an email
template which would be particularly useful when sending a bulk email. My
current workaround is to hyperlink to a web page!

Is there a mail limitation when sending a bulk email message
Hi all,
I posted this message quite some time ago but didn't receive a reply so I'm
re-posting in the hope there may be some newbies who have come across a
similar issue.
I send a bulk email message every few months to ~11,000 contacts. There
seems to be a limit as I have to send them in batches of say 1,500 in order
to get all the mail out. I've tried to send them all at once and I thought at
first that it worked, but when I went to check the contact activity history,
nothing was logged.
Any clues? I know it could be a mail server issue but I've spoken to our IT
personnel about this and they can't see anything odd at the exchange end.
I should mention that this is one feature of CRM that I really like (if it
could only save me hours of work every few months).
Thanks in advance.

Replicated AD in CRM
Hi,
We have a potential client but need to clarify somthing.
This company has a branch overseas, and another here in Melbourne Australia.
Their AD is based in the overseas branch, the AD here is replicated with the
one overseas. The overseas branch has Sieble and the Melbourne branch is
wanting to install the Microsoft CRM. How will this work with the AD being
replicated? When we do the install will we need to do anything with the AD
in the overseas branch?

Question on unsupported enhancements to CRM
We have the following requirements:
- Ability to generate a one-up number for every new account
- Ability to view this number in a readonly textbox so that no one can
modify the value.
What we are plannign to do for this:
- Create a custom field for account.
- Generate the account id in a trigger written on accountbase.
- Modify the metadata tables to make the custom field appear readonly.
This seems to be working in the test environment. While I know this is
unsopported, my questions are:
- Has anyone done such customization and faced any problems?
- Will microsoft stop providing support for any CRM issues because of this
unsopported customization? Tag: Citrix webclient and appointments in Outlook Tag: 37547

CRM 1.2 Lead Activity History
I head at a meeting the other day that there is a way to have the Lead
Activities come across when you convert to an Account or Contact. Currently
they do not display on the History tab. You can go back into Leads and open
the lead and look at the Activities History Tab. But is there no other way
to look at them in the Contact? Perhaps a long round about Activity search
in Advanced Find? I assume this is being fixed in the new version.
Thanks!

compare microsoft crm, legrand, act
I want to purchase and use a CRM as the centre of my small business, and am
looking for the right product. Currently comparing Microsoft CRM, legrand
and ACT! 6.0 (been told to avoid 7 at this stage)
Criteria:
About to install Microsoft small business server incl outlook 2003, up to
three users
Could have up to 1000 clients and potential clients, accumulating several
thousand 'jobs'. Focus is not on aggressive marketing as I have enough work
coming in; rather I want efficient management of jobs through a flexible work
tracking process.
Work tracking is crucial, with linkages from jobs to client records,
referrals, time recording. Calendar, documents, emails, accounting package if
possible.
Synchronisation with imate JAM running windows mobile 2003 and activesync etc
Any recommendations, or where can I go for guidance? Tag: Citrix webclient and appointments in Outlook Tag: 37537
Task Pane Integration with CRM Contact Records
Hi,
I am still new to CRM and recently saw the ability for an Office 2003 users,
say in Word, to use the Shared Workspace Pane (I think) to connect to CRM and
create merged documents using XML tags.
The user would bring up the template which had the tags, then in the shared
workspace pane choose a button (?) to access CRM then pick a contact record
and it merged into the template, sort of DDE style I think?
I think the system required SharePoint, BizTalk, Integration Framework and
CRM with Office 2003, but this is where I am very fuzzy. We do not require
Sharepoint in this installion so not sure if this is needed for this type of
integration.
Can anyone tell me what hardware and software is needed to achieve this and
how it is achieved? We are just starting our install and as a number of
users will be spending most of their time in Word, this would be very handy.
Thanks so much in advance!

Metadata error
I'm in the process of changing one my user's names and keep running into
problems with SFO and SQL.
Basically, I'm trying to change one user's domain name from
MSCRM/user1234567 to MSCRM/user1234. BTW. SFO was working as user1234567. I
uninstalled SFO and local SQL, deleted the two folders in program files,
changed SystemUserBase and deleted the user profile on the laptop.
With the user in the local admin group, I re-installed SFO (after verifying
outlook worked with the exchange server) and went offline (appeared to sync
w/o error). Now with the laptop disconnected to the nework, I get the

I would like this custom field not to appear in sub accounts linked to the

So if it's not possible I'd like this specific custom field to be propagated

Is it possible to do that?

to extend a contract
Our contracts are going on time, and everytime an incidents happens the time
is subtracted from the contactline. Till so far no problem.
If there is not enough time on the contract line you get a warning that
their isn't enough time. But what then? At the moment we are doing the
following steps. We open the contract line to see how much time is left and
we close the incident again and substract the exact amount of time what is
open. After that we make a new incident with the same name and we substract
the time what is left of the total incident from a new contract and a new
contract line.
This is a very time consuming so I'm wondering is their an easier way to do
this? Please give me some information on how you work with this.

Problems with Crystal Reports - Urgent
We have experienced with Crystal Reports on our CRM installation since
installation. A large number of reports have always displayed the message
that further information is required before the report can be run and we are
now also getting:
updateViewState failed
Your request was cancelled. The necessary security privileges could not be
verified. Please contact your system administrator.
The errors seem to vary randomly; for example a report was operating happily
for 5-10 executions over the course of 10 minutes then started displaying the
above message.
We have applied the suggested fixes, I believe, but still no joy. Attempted
to run all crystal services as administrator and mixed results. Our setup is
two W2K3 boxes, one running the MS CRM and the other the SQL server.
Any ideas?

Reply/Forward CRM Email Reply from Outlook Inbox
Situation:
A CRM user (person A) sends an email to a contact (person B) via Sales for
Outlook Client. This email is shown under Activity History for that contact.
'Person B' replies to the email. That email comes back and is added to the
Activity History (because of the email router) too. 'Person A'
forwards/replies to the message from 'Person B' from their Outlook Inbox;
however, the message will not be posted to the Activity History for that
client. You must forward/reply to the message from the Activity History in
order for this message to be posted to CRM.
Question/Suggestion:
We are currently using CRM version 1.2. Will this change in the next
version? Is there a purpose to having it setup this way?
We'd really like to be able to reply from our Outlook Inbox instead of
having to go to the Activity History to reply to or forward the message after
the reply to the initial email. It is something that we would really like
changed.

Fetch XML and Relative Dates
Is it possible to use relative dates beyond the preconfigured
conditions in Fetch XML? For example, I want to return all records
created 30 days ago to present. I would want something similar to
this:
<fetch mapping='logical'>
<entity name='account'>
<attribute name = 'name'/>
<attribute name = 'accountid'/>
<filter type='and'>
<condition attribute = 'createdon' operator='on-or-after'
value='Now()-30'/>
</filter>
</entity>
</fetch>
I understand there are pre-configured conditions dealing with dates
like 'last-seven-days', 'last-week', 'last-month', and 'last-year'.
But, unless there is a 'last-XX-days', where XX can be any number of
days, these won't due.
So, the condition line above doesn't work, but is there something
similar that does?

3rd party databases
Hello everyone, am a newbie (3 weeks) to CRM, consulting for a company using

My question concerns the Axonom "Power Trak" database used by the CRM add on

Is it possible to create new reports using data from this database and data
from the CRM database through the CRM connection? (I hope not!)
If not, what would be the recommended/best/cheapest/easiest way to view
reports that use a 3rd party database? Or reports using ole-db and stored
procedures? I have some ideas on this, just looking for someway I haven't
thought of.

importing a product list/catalog
I'm trying to import a list of products into CRM 1.2 - can anyone provide
direction on the best approach here?
My product list comes in two forms:
1. an ASCII, comma delimited, double-quote text qualified file (similar to
the text files that can be used to import Contacts)
2. several DBF files that cross reference one another - one for product
pricing, one for product description, one for manufacturer codes, etc.
What are my options? I would prefer the quick and easy approach.
Once the data is imported we will need to update the entire database on a
daily basis - it would involve replacing all the data with updated entries.
Any suggestions? I could not find any documentation on how to import
products into the CRM catalog nor do I see any training resources and/or

Strange security role behavior - Urgent please!
I have a problem with security roles within two business units (B.U.)

Read Accounts - Organization
