Prevent outlook data sync
HI,
I have been trawling round this NG and the support areas of MBS to no avail.
What I am trying to do is to insert contacts into an empty default contacts
folder for a mailbox whitout them being created as new contacts in CRM.
Everything we have tried has failed.
I have deselected contacts from the personal options section 'create
microsoft crm items in my default outllok folders' but it makes no
difference.
If we put a contact in that folder it creates a new contact with equivalent
details in CRM, either when online (if online when put the contact in the
folder) or when go online (if offline when put the contact in the folder).
The reason we have for doing this is that we are not happy with the sync
performance so are looking at synching on one machine and copying data to a
central public folder and subsequently copying to using a third party tool to
sync that public folder with the default contacts folder for each mailbox.
However everytime we try and insert contacts from the central folder into te
default folder we end up creating loads of new contacts in crm. Can anyone
advise where I am going wrong?

Remove Revenue field from opportunity form
I want to remove the revenue radio button field that asks if you want to
enter the value yourself or have it system calculated but can't as it says it
is required by the system.
We do not have products so cannot calculate opportunity values. So it would
be nice to remove the revenue field and default to the user entering the
revenue value themselves (I can do the last bit).

Prob with sales for outlook
Hi,
Since i've been so quicly helped to solve my fist prob with crm i go on with
the second one:
When i install sales for outlook 2003 all the buttons work exept the ones
for creation of new account, new contact and the the two other ones in the
same row.
Additionnaly when i try to promote mails into crm element outlook crashes
And now i've another problem, i've uninstalled sales and when i install it
again (after having deleted everything included the former install of sql
desktop) i don't get the tool bar and i don't get no display at all from crm
in the folder view

Hi u ol,
I've juste installed a CRM1.2on a SBS2003Premium, and when i try to log into
the web page of the CRM my IE window closes on some of my computers or even
on mine in the other sessions than the main one.
Has someone any good idea for it?

CRM for a radio station
Hi
Im supposed to customize CRM for a Radio station, but the great number of
times unites (1 second upto 90 seconds) with 8 times intervals during the day
(ex: 8-10 am) is a problem that troubles me, speiacly with price lists for
every one.
also another problem that every product has a different company, Agency, and
MBU (Media Buying Unit) where all three have to be identified to get the
sales report for each one, knowing that a product should have a company, but
might not have an agency or an MBU.
also if a product is advertised for through a company its prices are
differnet than an agency or MBU.
my main problem is reporting, if there is a way to customize and get reports
for each company, product, agency, MBU, salesman, industry. and then filter 2
together then my problem is solved.

New CRM 1.2 installation login problems
I'm sure this has been asked before but my searches did not turn up
anything that matches so ...
I just installed CRM 1.2 on a box running SBS 2003 Premium with SQL
Server 2000 SP3a. Everything went fine during the installation. I
followed the procedure in Microsoft's document found here:

After installation, when I try to browse to http://crmweb from a
computer joined to the domain, I get prompted to provide user name and
password credentials. After providing them three times I get a 401.1
error (You are not authorized to view this page).
Now the part I find very interesting is that when I access http://crmweb
from a system on the LAN that is NOT joined to the windows domain, but
has a Local User with the same username and password as a domain user
who is also a CRM user, the CRM web page displays correctly without
prompting for credentials at all.
Can somebody please offer any suggestions to correct the authentication
problem?

Add lines to a renewed contract
Whenever I try to add a new contract line while renewing a contract (ie the
customer has purchased an item during the year and the contract template is
coverage dates), the system rejects the new line with "invalid coverage
dates". Doesnt seem to matter what dates are entered.
Please advise how to add new lines while renewing a contract.

How many CRM database in SQL server?
I can see 2 databasee: X_CRM.mdf and X _METABASE.mdf
But the master.mdb is also store the CRM data~~~
So how many database the CRM use? and What's the relationship for them?

MS CRM - Arabic edition
Hi all
We've got a customer wanting to have the UI in Arabic language. I
understand that on top of English edition, we need to install the
Arabic edition.
What I'm aware of is during the implementation phase of the project,
will the MS CRM implementation team need to know Arabic and have all
the fields displayed in Arabic? Or is there an option where the fields
can be in English and then converted into Arabic as and when required.
Request your thoughts and past experiences on such situations.

Microsoft CRM 3.0 - WOW!
I'm surprised to be the first to comment on the outstanding application
we saw demoed at Microsoft's Worldwide Partner Conference this week.
In a word, "Wow"... To all of you who have been hanging in there with
what I'm sure MS would agree was a less than fully functional 1.x
product, you are about to be rewarded...
There are so many fantastic new features that I can't possibly cover
them all here. Suffice to say, I believe that at least 90% of the
shortcomings in the 1.2 product have been addressed, and some terrific
new functionality has been added as well. Some of the highlights
include:
- fully customizable home page (and activities). They demoed a CRM
Home page that looked like a portal, consisting of Share Point web
parts, including three graphs.
- Ability to add custom entities. You can rename all of the CRM tabs
(hurrah! can change Contacts to People, etc.) You can add new tables,
and specify M:M relationships between any CRM object, including custom
ones.
- Everything looks much more like Outlook, and the integration appears
to be much tighter.
- Great enhancements to Excel exporting, including the ability to
create a live link Pivot table (data updated in your PT as it changes
in CRM!).
- Advanced Find can now query across objects, with a highly intuitive
And/Or grouping of lines. And you can save queries, and they show up
right in the Views for that object! (You can share them too.)
- Quick Campaigns can be created on any advanced find result set, with
sophisticated, full-blown marketing functionality built in. (They even
had a "Email via Mail Merge option" on the menu - and the email GUID
appears to be history as well, and tracking email conversations looks
easier)
- They have added a very sophisticated Service Scheduling module.
- Greatly enhanced reporting capabilities via SRS
- Simplified deployment (all customization/publication done through IE
GUI)
Like I said, that's just a short list. Get ready folks, CRM 3.0 will
be the product everybody has been waiting for. Kudos to the CRM Dev
team for a great job!

Importing contacts for various users
Is there a way to use the import procedure to bring multiple user's contacts
into MS CRM at one time? In my tests, the account owner defaults to the
logged in user at the time of the import.

Report Parameters in URL Problem
I have created a report that accepts multiple discrete parameter values.
However, I do not know how to specify multiple values in the URL. The report
works fine when specifying only one value. What am I doing wrong? Any help

Strange CRM Performance Issue
My company deployed CRM for several months. Performance was quite OK until
two weeks ago, strange things started to happen after we deploy SharePoint
portal. Not sure they are related. CRM has its stand alone web server. but
share the same db server with a number of applications including SharePoint.
It doesn't look like database is the performance bottle neck. But the plan
is to move CRM to it's stand alone db server in the near future.
The symtom is:
1) loading up CRM took a long time, sometimes time out. But sometimes after
it took a long time and still nothing happened, I closed the browser window,
and then opened another browser window, CRM sometimes loaded right away.
2) navigating to different areas of CRM took a long time
3) open a crm record took a long time.
4) updating and save a crm record took a long time, especially actions like
changing owner of a record.
4) Same issues in Outlook client. In addition, promoting an email took a
long time, time out, or received an error. Sending crm email also took a
long time, time out, or received an error.
We monitored performance both on the database server and web server, but the
results were quite acceptable. Is it because the http request took a long
time to get to the web server? However, the web server responded reasonably
fast after the request did get through? No clue yet. Any help will be very

SystemUserID in SystemUserBase
I have been testing to see if a disabled user can be reactivated and show up
with a SystemUserID in the SystemUserBase.
From what I can see it will will show up as a new account. The AD account
was disabled from AD quite some time ago.
I notice tha the Object GUID that is viewable with ADSIEDIT in AD does not
corrospond with the SystemUserID. If I new how the SystemUserID entry was
created I could manually create the record in the table.
I least I think I could.
Anyone know how they are created under the hood.
It would be a bit tedious to go through the license table to see if the
associated account does not exist and then we could remove the record.

Activate Order
I create 2 manuel rule from Workflow manager at below:
1. Manuel Rule
Change state to : Submitted
2. Manuel Rule
Change state to : Activated
I run first rule when order is Active and Order is submitting. After that I
run second rule when order is submitted but it cant run and I see "An error
has occured" message.
Does anybody help to me? How can I activate "submitted order"?

Adding values to "OpportunityCloseActivity"
I'd like to add more values for "Status Reason" for when my users close an
opportunity. However, the Close Activity is a popup window that I can't find
when I go to the system customization while logged in to MS CRM. Is there
anyway to add values to this?? I see the fields in Deployment Manager
(OpportunityCloseActivity/statuscode), but obviously I can't change anything
there.

Recieving an error when opening CRM e-mail?????
When a response to a CRM E-mail is received, it is automatically attached to
the CRM Record (Opportunity, Account, Lead) as activity history. In order to
further respond to the CRM E-mail and continue the thread the user has to do
this from the CRM Activity History on the record.
Sometimes when the e-mail is opened in CRM it contains this warning message:
"The e-mail below may contain script or content that is potentially harmful
and has been blocked. Unblock"
With this error message, the user can not respond or forward the e-mail from
CRM. The e-mail form blanks out and the user gets an internet â??Page can not
be displayedâ?? error screen.
You will see this message on the CRM E-mail when you open it.
What could be causing this?

Rule ?
CRM 1.2 Sales prof.
I have made a manual rule that updates 3 custom account fields from true to
false. They worked fine before but now the customer get an error stating
that he isn't allowed to make the change. The systemadministrator with all
rights can't apply the rule either.
Can it be because of the rollup fix or something ?
It is a very simple rule so I don't have a clue, can anyone help me out
here, thank you !

Report consultation crashs
Hello,
I've noted that Crystal Enterprise for MS CRM doesn't work very well in my
deployment :
- Sometimes it works
- Sometimes nothing loads after long time
- In the most cases, I get this error : "updateViewState failed"
In that last case, I've verified : APS is running.
I don't have a lots of users accessing simultaneously Crystal Enterprise,
but we have imported around 2000 accounts and 6000 contacts.
Has someone experienced such problems ? Could it be an hardware requirement
problem ?

mysterious relogin after 15 mins
Hello,
after about 15 minutes of working with MS-CRM IE opens a login window.
Problem is, it wants me to enter a password for a non existing user.
User in CRM is John Doe, domain login for this user is user08.
The login window wants me to enter the password for "\\crmsrv\John Doe"
password for user08 is not accepted.
After closing IE (loosing all entered data) and restarting it,
everything works (for about 15 minutes).
Is there anything I can do about that?

Slow response times using browser over VPN
Hi
I use CRM 1.2 remotely via VPN over broadband. Most of the time I use the
Outlook interface, but occasionally I need to go direct via IE. Response
times are fine using Outlook but painfully slow (half an hour to load the
first screen) using IE. I'm using Windows 2003 Server and XP client. Any
good ideas?

Opportunity, Quote, Order to Invoice
Hi,
Am i correct that 1 opportunity can have several active quotes?? But each
quote can only be associated with one order and one order is associated with
one invoice.
Our client asks whether one quote can have several order. For example in a
quote for 10 items. Then the customer is required to send 5 items first and
the rest later. How to accomodate this partial order in MSCRM?

Can't select text in input control
I have created a custom page that works fine within CRM. The strange
thing is that I can't select (highlight) text in a textbox control. I
created the page using an asp:TextBox control and a regular HTML Input
control set to type=text. For some reason I can't select the text using
the keyboard or mouse in either case. The standard CRM pages don't
exhibit this behavior. Does anyone have a clue what's going on?

Creating new attributes
When using Schema Manager to create new attributes, I'm not able to create a
new attribute with "Lookup" as type, "Lookup" is not availabe as one of the
type options. But yet some of the exist fields, for example, in Account
table came with "Lookup" as type. Why? Is there a work-around? Please

Deactivated Accounts show up in Search. Why?
We have accounts that no longer do business with us that we've
Deactivated.
However, when we do a search / advanced find those accounts still come
up.
How can we screen those out of the results?

1 email fill my queue!!!!

I'm testing a deployment of the CRM 1.2.
I test the exchange filter to get email sent to support@company.com.
This works fine... but...
every 30minutes the same email is added to the queue again!!!!
I have done 2 tests, and these 2 emails are copied every 30minutes...
what's wrong???

lot of my contacts were scanned from business cards there are a lot of

Trouble getting Workflow Rule to fire
I am using the CRM Workflow manager to trigger specific events to update the
system. The issue that I am having is determining what Event (Create, Manual,
Assign, Change Status) I need to assign to the rule?
The scenario is as follows:
When a field at the Contact level is set to â??TRUEâ?? I need a rule to run to
update a field at the Account level. The issue I am encountering is that the
Rule never gets fired.
Here is the code, I have tried using a Wait condition and an If/Else
statement:
When Contact Status is Changed
If
Contact.QuickMoveActive = 1
Then
Update: Account.QMAvailLicense -= 1
End IF
OR
When Contact Status is Changed
Wait
Contact.QuickMoveActive = 1

In this case â??Contact.QuickMoveActive = 1 â?? tells the system that this user
is now an active user of a specific product. When this event occurs then I
need the RULE to fire and subtract 1 from the total number of licenses still
available for this Account which is represented by â??Update:
Account.QMAvailLicense -= 1â?? . Any ideas on what I can do to accomplish this?

Cases and Workflow
We are using cases as problem reports... what is the best way to set up
workflow so that when the case is created it is routed to a specific queue
and the queue owner and account owner are emailed? and when the case is

How to? Format the CRM Server, than restore the SQL database.
I have backup all the sql database, and then format the server, re-installing
the Windows Server 2003, and re-installing the CRM server.
Now I'm going to restore the CRM database, it should be done by restore the
SQL database.
Anyone has ideas to restore the data?

CRM Integration for great plains
When I'm trying to instal MSCRM Integration with Great Plains v. 1.2 results
in this error: "Setup could not locate the specified SQL Server. Verify that
the specified server is valid SQL Server running with supported software.
Only MS Great Plains or later is supported."
