    - MSCRM Look + Feel I am having an extreme amount of difficulty getting the "look and feel" of crm in my asp.net app. I've been using the style sheets, which make it look similar, but some of the nicer things suck as the list view and the tabs - I cannot find how to duplicate these items.     - Creating aCRM activity from SFO I want to send an email that will create an activity for a CRM user. I took an existing e-mail that I had previously sent and clicked on "Promote to CRM activity." I thought this would assign the email as an actrivity to this CRM user. But when I looked in CRM Workplace, the activity did not show up until I looked under "Completed Activities." Why was the e-mail marked as complete? Maybe I don't understand the concept. How do I generate an open activity (something that needs to be followed up on) for a specific user from within SFO? Maybe what I really should be assigning is a "task." I'm so confused. Here are the details. I received an email from a client inquiring about services. I respond back to the client telling them we will get back with them with details. All of this was done outside of CRM. Now I want to assign the responsibility to follow up with this client to a CRM user. How the user follows up is not important (fax, phone, email). What I want to be able to do is 1) track that the user actually does follow up in a timely manner with the client and 2) be able to tie his action (however he follows up) to my orginal e-mail to this client.     - Customizing Activities Views? Been hunting for a solution to this for ages now.. Is there any way of customizing the Activities Views in the Workplace section. If you open the 'Activities' Pane in Workplace, you have a list of predefined views (Open Activities, Closed Activities, My Activities, All Activities) - is there any way to customize or all new views to this list? The question stems from the Workflow section of MSCRM; when you advance an opportunity through your workflow lifecycle, a number of automated activities are created which (given a number of opportunities) quickly clog up a users Workplace - and I'm looking for a way to show which opportunity these are activities are coming from; from the Workplace Activities view. So this question can also be answered by asking whether anyone out there knows how to configure the Workflow Manager to show the title of the opportunity in the subject of the created activities. If anyone can answer that question, equally good!     - crystal page server Hi I have installed CRM 1.2 on clients server but am not able to publish reports. In crystal configuration manager the page server is shown as stopped and won't restart. The event log shows the error message: 'The root server reported an initialisation failure.     - Outlook crashes when promoting mail Hi group, we have a problem with one of our SFO-Installments. When the user tries to promote am mail to CRM, Outlook dies and wants to send an error report. This is the first installation, where this happens. All other features in SFO work well, also the Web-Client. We've tried several times to re-add the Com-AddIn, re-install SFO but it still won't do.     - Crystal Services I'm getting the Crystal Error Message to Check to make sure we have enough licenses. The only thing I did that might have caused this is I installed the Full Version of Crystal Reports Professional on two different machines, even though I only have one license. (One is my workstation, the other is my laptop.) After I registered the second one, I got the license error. First, I noticed that the WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service was stopped on the server, and I started it, but that didn't help. Is there a specific sequence to restart the services? Second, do you think if I uninstall one of these report writers, it will take away the license error? Third, if I continue to have problems, should I call Microsoft or Business Objects for support? In a past conversation about SQL Server limitation, one of you has proposed the unsupported solution below: "...There is a very unsupported way to change what you've done: export the customizations into XML, edit directly, re-import and hope for the best...." We have a useless custom field in AccountBase and we did the following: 1. remove it from the Account Form. 2. In the SQL Server we deleted the field from the publication properties. 3. We have Exported the xml file from Deployment Manager, we deleted 2 tags in which the field name existed and then we imported the xml file back in the same server. Nevetheless, in Deployment Manager the field still exists...And the Accounts Lists gives binding errors.     - Data Migration Framework Setup I am working with MS CRM for the first time and trying to install the cdf staging database.     - Exchange Router setup/Setting More than one Exchange Server up in one organisation with two active directories? Forgive the version difference, but on Exchange 2003 is there a way to install a secondary Exchange Server on a different domain and somehow have it routed to from the other domain or act as a connector to be able to see those emails without removing them? I don't know enough about routing on Exchange to figure if its capable. Or perhaps I need to utilise a different registered email domain and I should use this for testing instead of trying to somehow route emails from one to the other? eg instead of companyname.com I could use companynamecrm.com or something. Would I still want to setup some kind of connector though to the main domain controller to limit traffic or replication or would setting it up seperately be just as valid. At the moment I have a two way external trust and I have a CRM application that requires Exchange but it has to be in the same domain as the other server unfortunately for CRM. I have two forests with domains, they are both on the same subnet and connected by trust. Also can I get away with installing this on Active Directory controller for the new domain or is this advised against? Its not a recommended spec for this application of course, but I wondered if we could just run it this way, or maybe perhaps the unsupported installation of CRM server holding the Exchange Server as it is with SBS - as Im being pressured about the number of servers we have, or utilise an older slower server as an Exchange Server in the new domain - which I want to avoid. Otherwise I may have to scrap my plan of the trust which otherwise works, and perhaps install directly into our existing domain/AD. ` At the moment at least I need the original emails to remain on the original domains servers.     - ObjectName in Activities Hi! I am using the example in the MS CRM SDK help file to create new activities. It works like a charm, with one exception (of course). The field ObjectName does not get written. This leads to the Regarding box to be open when the Activity is opened. It works in the sence that my Activity is in fact linked to, in this case, an order which would indicate that I am doing the <activityparties> stuff correctly. The attribute ObjectName on the Activity is read-only so I can't set it either. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Hi,

I have a lead and there are activities entered for the lead. When I convert
this lead into an Opportunity, Account or Contact, can I also move these
activities along with converting the lead.

Kindly help with your thoughts.

Jaison,

No, you can't. The reason is that CRM (unlike some other crm products) only
links one entity to each activity.

If I wanted to bring a copy of activities from Leads over to an Account, I
guess that I could create a PostCallback function on the create of the
Account to search for Activities from the related lead and then duplicate
them in the Account.

Stephen is correct that there is no simple way to do this today.
