Allow activate/deactivate
We are a small organization and have set up the business Model in three units:
It and notIT and manager. We want IT to be the only ones able to delete
records.
We want IT and Manager to be able to activate/deactivate records. Everyone
else shares data aand has all remaining rights.
I have been able to set the Delete to IT, but the activate/deactivate eludes
me. There seems to be only one place to set those rights, rather than
setting the rights on different tabs in the roles form.
Also, we would like all employees to be able to read all records, except the
contacts who are employeed at this company. Tat should be reserved for
mangers only. Is there a way to do that?

CRM Contacts Missing in Outlook
I have the following problem with CRM:
Outlook 2003 using latest client and "Outlook Crash" hotfix.
From within Outllok all contacts can be seen via Sales, Contacts.
When a new message is created in Outlook and To is selected, followed
by CRM Contacts then certain contacts do not appear in the contact
list.
This is only true for a couple of PCs, the rest seem to work OK.
I have tried removing the CRM client and re-installing, but it doesn't
make any difference.
Anyone got any ideas why this is happening?

Default Unit of measure / Multiple unit of measures for Product
Hi,
We have Products that have more than one unit of measure.
On the product page - the text for unit of measure is "Default Unit".
Question: Is there a way to have multiple unit of measures for the
product ?
Has someone accomplished this using a custom soulution. I have ideas
of creating another entity and linking it with a one to many
relationship, but I want to see if there is a better way to make this
work.
Goal: Product has more than one unit of measure - lb, ft
User on order page can select default unit of measure or one of the
alternate unit of measures.

SSRS application pool
Hi,
I noticed that in IIS 6.0 SSRS, the application pool is not found anymore. I
had configured it with 2 application pools namely reports and reportserver.
Yesterday, while resolving another issue, I had configured the SPN in AD and
MSCRM servers.
If anyone can let me know how to restore the APP POOLS in SSRS Server [IIS
6.0 Windows 2003] that would be great!!!

Bulk Import does not load all records
I have imported Leads using Bulk Import. The log file says that they were all
created successfully with no failures, but when I open the log file it shows
a much smaller count of records.

opportunity products customized attributes update
I have a process in an opportuniy that can be only perfomed after the
opportunity was closed. This process is fired by a button created in
isv.config opportuniy entity.
At opportuniy products I created two customized attributes and after
execute the my process I need to update this attributes. So, when I try to
update I get the error "The parent is read only and cannot be edited". Maybe
this error is because the opportunity is closed. Is it correct?
If it is correct, how can I update customized attributes of opportunity
product of opportunity if the opportunity parent is closed?

Help on campaigns.
Hi,
I'm pretty new to CRM and have been tasked with setting up a phone campaign
for a number of sales agents to call a marketing list made up of leads. (We
are running CRM v3.0)
I've tried setting it up both as a campaign and a quick campaign and hit the
same problem both ways.
The only options for assigning the task are either to myself or to the owner
of the leads. The leads are either owned by a default account that we use
prior to validation or by an account manager (not the sales agents).
Is there a way to task the calls to the agents (put the task in their queue)
without assigning the lead to them?
I've searched the web for information on campaigns and it's pretty sparse;
there are lots of generic overviews on the benefits but little on how to
actually do it.
Any links to "how to"documents on campaigns would be appreciated as well.

Email address part of distribution list used in queue does not get emails
Hi,
I have given email id to a queue and it receives mails if included in
CRM Router. There is another email id given to a queue, where this
email id is part of a distribution list to which email gets forwarded
from different email id.
For ex.
Queue 1 --> Email id1 --- Works
External customers send mail to Email id2 and there has been forward
rule written in to forward the same to Email id3.
Queue 2 --> Email id3 --- Does not work.
Email id 1 is in CRM Router.
Checked with putting both Email id2 and id3 in CRM Router -- Does not
work.
Checked with putting only Email id3 --- Does not work.
Any insights?

Tracking e-mail: images not showing
Whenever I have an e-mail from one of my customers that contains a
screenshot from the problem (or other info in the form of images)
I track this e-mail in Outlook, then Viewing it in CRM gives me the
mail but all images are red crosses.
Clicking upon the yellow bar that states that this hazardous content is
blocked still doesn't do anything.
Where should I look for to take care of this problem?

Neglected Opportunities
How can I do an advanced serach to find those opportunities that have been
neglected e.g. where an opportunity does not have any activities open that
are due in the future OR Where an opportunity does not have an activity
modified in the last X.
If this is not possible can anyone help me out, what do you do???
Potentiall I was thinking about adding a field to opportunity that gets
updated whenever an activity associated with the opportity get created or
modified. Is this possible without using callouts (I am not a developer).

Neglected Leads
Does this report simply look at the modified date on the lead??
If this is the case then it is very possible that the lead has been active
because manya activities could have been added which do not update the
modified date.
Does anyone know how to run a query to search for all leads that
a) do not have any activites set at all (at any status)
b) do not have any activities due from now today forward (this must also
capture those leads with no activities at all).

Map custom entity to the to-field
We implemented crm 3.0 with a lot of custom entity's.
Now we discovered that if we select for example a employee and if we want to
send an email to the employee (custom entity), we cannot fill in the
email-adress from the employee (or better, filled in automatically)
After opening a ticket by ms (we have an acces-id and a contract for
support), we got this message back:
"There is no way to map the email address from the custom entity to the To
field in the email form."
We hope it can be solved in a next version

Display Name of the Entity
I want to suggest that CRM should have a feature of dynamic display name for
an entity.
For example, I create a custom entity. Then, I relate it to entity Product.
In the form of my custom entity, I want the lookup field for Product display
the product number (ID) instead of the product name without changing the
values of the entity's data in the database.
Another example, I want to display the customized full name that depends on
what pattern I want to use.
The first example displays only a column, while the second example displays
the concatenation of two or more columns. It looks like formula.
CRM must have the options that this customization will affect either to all
or to only one related entity.
This is possible. I hope this in the future version of CRM.

Relationship Question
I'm trying to create a relationship between Service Activity and Product...it
doesn't appear possible. When I go to the Product Entity and then to
Relationships, I click New One to Many. It gives me as my only Entity
options two new Entities that I created for purposes of practicing. What I
was hoping to see was the whole list...in particularly Service Activity.
I can't remember how, but one time I was able to see a more complete list of
Entities to choose from when creating relationships, but most of the time I
only get the two entities I created while practicing.
Do I have options or am I oging to be forced to Convert the the Service
Issue to an Opportunity or Quote or Order before I can select product?

CRM email blasting failure box
Hi,
have any one made use of CRM 3.0's email blasting feature
extensively?
I notice that there's a send and a failure box. My first question
is .. I have already install crm roll up 1,
but when I distribute a email, i realise that I still have to send the
email one-by-one, which is not acceptable for sending like 100 000
email, just for an example.
Further more i notice that there is very limited information regarding
the failure box. Does anyone knows what kind of mail is send there?
I will appreciate if anyone share some information about this feature
with me, because this feature seems to have very limited information

CRM 3.0: Customizing Entity Relationship
My company is using Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0. I am assigned to test its
functionalities before we implement it. I am new in this application. Is
there somebody who can guide me and help me to solve some issues like this:
I create two custom entities: Service Work Order (SWO) and Inventory and
Service (IS).
I relate SWO to IS as one-to-many relationship, parental behavior. And I
also relate IS to Product as many-to-one relationship, referential, restrict
delete behavior. It is good to see the associated view of IS in the SWO
Details tree view, but the problem is I don't want to see the associated view
of IS in the Product Details tree view.
Is there any way that can solve the problem without using JavaScript? If
there is no other way, can JavaScript solve the problem alone? If yes, please
reply me with the JavaScript codes.

How would you go about sending a GUID to a workflow custom assembly.
I am trying to send it, but of course the primary key GUID field
doesn't show up in my list of dynamic assignable fields. Any ideas??

w3wp.exe errors
I have a client that is getting w3wp.exe application errors every morning,
and I am not sure if it is related to CRM or other related c360 products or
not. They are running a batch file early each morning to do an iisreset due
to other iis problems they were experiencing. When they come into work in
the morning, there is the w3wp.exe application error on the server monitor.
Clicking through this error pops up 2 more of the same.
Has anyone seen this before?

Workflow based on create Product entity -- possible?
Hello all,
Sorry if this is an elementary question -- I'm kind of fumbling my way
around on this, and I haven't found any documentation or resources on
any other sites that directly answer it.
The basic workflow I want to accomplish is for our accounting
department to be notified (via email) when a product specialist adds a
new Product to the system.
I'm trying to use Workflow Manager to create a new workflow based on
the create event for the Product entity type, but that type isn't in
that primary list in Manager. I see maybe 25 built-in types in there,
but not Product.
The weird thing is that I can see 5 or so custom types that we added
to the system, in that list. It seems amazing that I can base
workflows on our own dynamic, custom types, but not on the Product
type that was comprehensively known by the developers, and which I
would've considered to be a central type to the entire system.
Am I missing something? It seems like it, since I have never seen
anyone else anywhere ask this question. Maybe we're just off the wall
in what we're trying to do. Does anything special have to happen for a
type to be compatible with workflows?

Hello all,
We are trying to add a custom field to the Case section of our crm. We have
clicked through customize entities then chose case and clicked attributes.
When we fill out the form and then try to save and close we get the message
"An error has occured. Please see your system administrator." We are
receiving this message any time we try to add any custom attributes. We are
logged in with admin privs to both CRM and the domain. Is there an alternate
way we should be approaching this?

Any thoughts on how to do this pricing in CRM? The client pricing schedule
is tiered:
1-5 is $1,000 each
6-50 is $600 each
51 and up is $500 each
Example: 10 items purchased is 5 x $1,000 plus 5 x $600 for a total of
$8,000.
There is similar pricing for additional products.

Dumping out a single record of data for external processing
Hello,
I'm interested in extracting out some field data in single record for
further processing by an outside application. My idea was to creat just a
generic report that would query the fields that I would need, and that
particular record. Then perhaps I could export it out so that the items
would show up in a text file as:
FieldTitle1
Fieldcontents1
FieldTitle2
Fieldcontents2
etc...
Does anyone have any ideas as to a better way to do this? I've been playing
with T-SQL for basic reporting needs we have, and thought going this route
would make it simple in that once the report is published, it would show up
in the menu. What I'm not experienced at is stored procedures, or isolating
that particular record.

Changing Address Fields Lengths
Hi,
Well my question is how do change the length of the fields "Address_line1",
"Address_line2" and "Address_line3" of the forms Accounts, Contacts and Leads.
I looked for this fields directly in the SQL Server tables but the only
address fields I found was the fields "Line1", "Line2" and "Line3" of the
table InternalAddressBase wich I think are not the fields I need to
change.... Anyway I changed the length of this fields on the SQL Server from
50 to 100 but when I tried to change this lengths directly on the CRM -
Customizations it stills gives the error message: "You must to use a length
between 1 and 50".
Do you know wich tables have the address fields of the Contacts, Accounts
and Leads? And how do I can change the lengths of this fields? (without the
error message) :)

Remote Access Problem
Our newest laptop image does not allow the user to access CRM through the
https connection while out of the office. It's definitely tied to the
settings on the local computer because the user can access CRM on other
computers and in the office.

Merging to CRM Server Data togother

We have 2 CRM servers containing both similar and unique data records. This
covers all entities including: Users, Account, Contacts, Quotes, Orders,
Leads, Opportunities ... Etc So you could find for example that one of the
servers contain the same user on the other server and so on for other
entitiesâ?¦ etc.
We intend to get rid of one of the servers by migrating, or in fact merging
its CRM data with that of the other server.
I found few threads in this newsgroup that discuss similar issues but not
exactly the thing I am looking for.
I think the SCRIBE Insight migration tool does this job. However, what
worries me most is maintaining the integrity between the various entities of
the CRM records. Because imagine for example that a Quote record includes in
its columns foreign key relations to users, accounts,.... etc. So what
happens when the migration tool migrates a record and discovers that one of
its FKs does not exist (Example: An owner or a user)? Does it create this
user first... ? And so on... I hope you got my point
Do you know of any body that has used SCRIBE before to do a similar job?
I say that because if I decide to purchase the $495 45-Day SCRIBE License
and then it does not at the end do this migration job, my manager will kill
me :-) or at least he will deduct this $495 from my salary :-(
I tried to contact Scribe about this issue, but I did not get clear
satisfying answers! In fact, they advised me to purchase some consultancy
services from them which I think will cost us even more than the tool itself!

Dear all.
I need your precious help in configuring security roles.
We the following organization: 2 business units, called A and B. A has 2
child business units, called A1 and A2.
We would like that:
- contacts under A1 or A2 must be visible (read-only) by all users under A1
or A2 but editable only by users in owner business unit (i.e. contacts in A1
are read-only for A2 and read-write for A1, contacts in A2 are read-only for
A1 and read-write for A2)
- but contacts in B must be visible and editable only by users in B.
I tried several configurations of users and roles but I canâ??t find the right
one.
Can anyone help me?

I build a virtual PC image for my CRM project, create custom entities and
customized some forms and attributes. In new custom entities, I created new
records.
Now, I want to deploy my CRM customization in my VPC image.
Can I use MSCRM Redeployment Tool so that I don't have to re-enter the
records in my custom entities?

the customer lookup field - thats because we need to send an email via
workflow to the contact.

opportunities. If we click on Opportuntity,click on Projects in the
Navigation Pane, click on New Project the customer field is not automatically
populated on the New Project form as it normally would be if you click on new
Quote or new Order.
We tried to map the fields and were unsuccessful. I am of the opinion that
we have created the wrong relationship. If we create a contact within an
account the customer field is automatically populated.

CRM 1.2 on a new domain
Hi,
I had a network desaster a few days ago and the whole new domain was
created. I had a CRM1.2 server on my old domain which i need to use.
Can anyone help me to iether add the old CRM to the new domain or somehow

Auto-fill Custom Age field based on Date of Birth
Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone can help me with this.
In the contact form we have a date/time field for date of birth, and a
custom int field for Age. How would I go about auto-filling the age
field depending on the date of birth of the client, as well as today's
date? I tried an onchange event that works, however this won't update
the Age field going forward after the initial data entry into the date
of birth field.

.net 3 not being detected by CRM Desktop Client installer
Hi all,
I have a Vista 64 bit Dell M1710 (out of the box), have been trying to
install (any) version of the CRM3.0 desktop client.
It always falls over at the same stage where it looks at what components
need to be upgraded. it says that .net framework 1.1 must be installed
'missing (must be installed by user)' - The OS comes with .net3 and this is
installed.
What I have tried.
* unistalled and reinstalled .net 3 from OS
* tried installing previous version of .net (2) 64 x - got error during
install that '.net is already installed as part of the operating system'
