    - Upgrade to Office 2k3 breaks the laptop version of CRM We are currently upgrading from Office 2k2 to 2k3, when the installation of Office 2k3 is completed and the machine has been restarted CRM no longer functions, toolbar and menu item are disabled and no folders for CRM are accessible. We ran a repair which has fixed the Desktop client, unfortunately this does not work with the laptop client. On the two laptops we have upgraded so far it throws up the following error when you try to repair CRM: Could not locate the microsoft.crm.metadatahelper.dll file verify that everyone has read access to this file on the source disk. The only solution we can find at the moment is to uninstall everything related to CRM, remove the CRM databases etc and then reinstall CRM, this would abviously be nice to avoid as we have around 100 laptops to do.     - SRS Columns - Question I'm building out a multi-column report for quick and easy Account mailing labels (they select the records from the Grid, then click the Print Labels report). The query is simple enough, but using a Listbox control doesn't carry the data over into the 2nd and 3rd coulmns. It goes top to bottom, but not left column to right column.     - How to Check if an opportunity has been Idle for a set time Hi, I need to create a workflow that sends an email to the record owner if the Opportunity has not been modified for 42 days (6 weeks). I have two questions 1) how do I check the date from when the modified date has been changed and perform the date comparision, I assume using the "wait" feature?, 2) if a workflow has started counting days, and the record is modified, does the workflow reset itself if someone does modify the record, or is a new workflow created, if so, what happens to the ogininal workflow?     - Sorting the "New --> More..." menu Does anyone have a tip on how to sort the items in the "New --> More..." menu? It seems the items are randomly ordered and I believe the order changes from time to time.     - Track in CRM & original message date I hope that I am wrong... Is it really so that when a user wants to manually track incoming mails in CRM by "Track in CRM" button, the original date of the message is not stored in CRM? The only date that is stored is the date that the tracking was done? If I e.g want to track an email that i received last week, only todays date would be stored? This is not good.     - Improvements for "lookup records" dialog Hello. When you want to lookup records for example in the advanced find you get a dialog where you have a searchbox at the top and two listboxes where you can select and deselect items. In german, this dialog has the title "DatensÃ¤tze nachschlagen". You can customize the view of the left listbox with the view "search view" (in german "Suchansicht") of the desired entity. There you can define the display order of the columns, the columns you can search in and the sort order. But in this dialog, CRM only minds the display order of this view. it ignores the columns you can search in and the sort order. CRM f.e. only lets you search in the first column shown. it also doesn't show any scrollbars so if you want to show more infos here, it's impossible. I'm not 100 percent sure, but a collegue of mine also told me, that this dialog also doesn't resolve lookup-fields, if you want them to show up in this listbox. It only shows the GUID as plain text.     - Workflows in Tasks hi All We create mailing tasks for our contacts and accounts, and once the tasks are created we export them into excel end of every week. What i want to do is create a workflow which closes all the selected tasks and updates the actual end date to now.     - Dynamics Customer from Submitted Order When I submit an order, the customer comes into Dynamics as a new and different customer than the one in CRM...even though I select the customer in CRM, Dynamics picks up this existing customer information and uses it to create a new customer...the new customer in Dynamics is using the Customer Name in CAPS as the Customer Number in Dynamics....does this mean that two fields are incorrectly mapped somewhere?     - Microsoft CRM inbound adaptor Our company has Dynamics 9.0 and CRM 3.0. I'm trying to Submit Order to Dynamics. Currently, I appear able to push a new customer into Dynamics (although the customer that I pushed into the system was an existing customer, but CRM still created a new customer in Dynamics). However, no new order is being stup in Dynamics even though I have it setup in CRM.     - Problem with CRM 3.0 with 64 bit AMD database server Hi. we have implemented a CRM installation to a customer. The CRM server is 32 bit 2 processor Xeon processor. The database server is AMD 64 bit 2 processor server with 8 GB Ram. =DDt runs SQL 2005. there is a web interface which is used by external users such as vendors and resellers. they search for the customers and cerate orders for them. there are Mobile phones using a JAVA application. orders are sent to the JAVA applications on phones and they update orders. There are 2000 phones and 300 vendors. The external users have an ISS server different from that of CRM. The problem is that, CRM freezes sometimes. the performance was perfect about 3 weeks ago but not the prformance sucks. It takes about 10 minutes to make a record, it took less than half a minute. the database sometimes cannot respond to the queries. CRM cannot read or write from/to the database. The web interface can read but cannot create and write when the prformance leak happens. The CPU consumption of the database server is 100% even though nothing else is done but SQL runs. more than 7 GB ram of the 8 on the server is used. The server is AMD and 64 Bit, a state of the art server. we cannot solve the issue. What can the source of this problem be? The database freezes from time to time, generally more than once a day and 60,000 orders are processed a day. our customer and we are having great difficulty. Also, the problem seems to have started parallel to the cata migration. We had migrated the data of the past year into the SQL. it is more than 2 million records. Can the speed of migration have some bad effects on the performance of SQL? Because the problems seem to have started around the data migration date.     - Using contacts across Business Units Hi CRM gurus, does anybody know how to setup the business unit structure for the following scenario in MS CRM 3.0: one parent organisation with two childs (business unit A and B). members of the parent should see all contacts members of business unit A should see only their records and NO records of business unit B members of business unit B should see only their records and NO records of business unit A so far no problem to set this up, but here comes the real problem. In addition to the contacts of business unit A and B there are around 10.000 contacts, which should be seen and used by all members of business A and B. To mention once more only those 10.000 contacts should be used by both business units. I know, that one alternative is to use the share function, but this solution doesn't to be practicable. Currently i have an Auto number whose Prefix is "QRC", Number is "99000" and sufix length is "5". It looks like "QRC-99000-AS7FX". Now my question is what will happen to the number part when it exceeds "99999". Will it become "100000" or will it reset to "00001" Currently the length is 15 with the above format.     - Create Task in Workflow fails Hi all: I have a workflow rule that fires when a new lead is created. The rule assigns the lead to a user, sends an email to the user to inform them they have a lead, and then it creates a task for the user. However, for some reason the rule fails on the task creation, with the error: "Error code = 80131509. This SqlTransaction has completed; it is no longer usable" I thought it might be because I was trying to assign the task to the logical owner, and perhaps the owner had not been set yet, so I changed the rule to create the task for a static user and it still fails. When an account is deactivated, there is no way to select an inactive status reason. Therefore, you can only have active status reasons selected. I don't want to post this to usenet because somebody might try to tie that in to my posts in some way (someone already has, in uk.misc). First of all, I'd like to ask you to believe that my phone line in my apartment is bugged, and has been for many months. I have moved a couple of times this year, but "they" have faithfully been on my trail. Anyway, let's suppose my phone line is bugged. Now, when I talk to my internet service provider, it's over a SLIP (now PPP) connection. So if you wanted to bug what was said, either you'd listen in over the line and have to decode the transmission, or you could go to the service provider (more difficult) and ask them to decode a particular user's connection. OK, so now they're listening to everything I do over my SLIP/PPP connection. A couple of months ago I was messing around with faking articles through nntp servers and through anonymous remailers. I chose a nice inconspicuous newsgroup for my little tests, something no-one would ever notice. Guess which newsgroup I chose??? Yes, _FISH_!!! or rec.aquaria to be precise And guess what articles I tried to post? Goldfish, Koi carp and, you'll never guess... PIRANHA!!! The goldfish article and the Koi went through, but the piranha didn';t appear. by now you probably think this is too silly for words. But if you look in the papers a few eeks ago you will find John Major, Tonny Blair and Paddy Ashdown sharing a "private joke" about Major's sunburnt goldfish. We haven't had anything about Koi yet (they must be too dull ). Now, sent by someone who clearly knew what they were doing (they chose an Italian backbone site for their launch point) we have many thousands of messages to people all over the globe. All about piranha, and with the punchline "that gives you something to think about, doesn't it?" The way it works is that they're trying to kill two birds with one stone again. BBC + Capital + manipulated_public_at_large + set_up_situations, what does that add up to? Add in the technology to carry out the covert spying and the manpower and knowhow to follow you around for five years without being spotted. It smells very much of the security services, because there is no other organization (to my knowledge) which does the things I've seen these people do. Remember, they have deliberately chosen the softest of soft targets to victimize. They purposely chose a mentally ill person who they thought would be likely to kill himself anyway, so that they could get away with murder. And in all likelihood it will have started as a personal vendetta by someone. Who could that be? I don't know, but I can give you some clues. The first possibility (deep breath) is that someone from my college set me up. Six years ago I graduated from university in the UK, during the last year there I was steadily getting more and more ill. I know that I was talking in my sleep; although I don't know what I was saying, it got me a reputation, and if someone from my college talked afterwards to the "wrong" people then that could be the reason for all that has followed. I think that's the strongest contender for source. Directly beneath my room lived another bloke who frequently had his friends round late at night, after the time that I went to sleep. So they could have heard what I was saying in my sleep, and that could have got me the reputation for "talking to myself". What I don't know is why that should have rebounded a year after I left. You'd think it would have happened sooner; it's a bit odd to wait for a year and then start abuse. You can't put them down when the fascist establishment is on their side. The reason I think it might be the former is that I got quite a lot of abuse along the lines of "sound-alike" or "double-entendre" at work, in particularly from Steve. So "double" inevitably came to mean split-personality, "two people in one"; "back" inevitably came to mean "backside", "come" inevitably meant you-know- what, "split" (well, we'd better split now) again you can guess, "bent" (of a similar bent), the list goes on forever. These aren't "nice" double- entendres intended for comedy, they're nasty words to humiliate and cause pain. If I could turn the clock back three years then I would sue my former employers for harassment and I would almost certainly win. I had to take pills after a year of Oxford, so they wouldn't be able to lie their way out of it. We have Office 2002 installed company wide, and are about to upgrade to 2003, however on the machines we've tested the upgrade on, it breaks CRM (the menu and CRM Bar stay in Outlook, but aren't accessible) and so we had to "Repair" CRM, however on one machine the Repair failed, but CRM worked. I went back into CUSTOMIZATION and set the field PROPERTY to do not display label. I saved, and published. When I went to test the changes, the fields were still showing on the form so I went back to CUSTOMIZATION and the QUOTE form no longer appears in the list of entities..?? But it seems the requiredlevel is also not deployed if it is changed from "business required" to "no constraint". When users try to run reports using the external address
https://crm.domain.com they continue to get a 401 authentication error.

Has anyone come across this?

Do the reports work for users within the organisation when connection via the
lan?

What authentication are you using?
