Appointment Confirmation

When we create an appointment in CRM I want to have a workflow rule that
creates a task to call the person the appointment is with 2 days before the
appointment date. No problem using workflow to create a phone call record,
but how can I set the due date for the phone call to be 2 days before the
appointment? Do we need to write a custom assembly to do this?
