Hi,
It is a major requirement for us to restrict some users to export Microsoft
CRM records to Excel file and to restrict them to print as stated in our
implementation policies. Is there a possible workaround for this
restriction? Would greatly appreciate for your fedback. Lot of thanks in

Distaster Recovery of Microsoft CRM 1.2
Yesterday we add a server crash. We cannot restore our server because the
hardware we had is no more available.
We have a Full Complet backup from the night before. Is it possible to
restore our CRM in a new Active directory, with a new SQL server.
I know there is a tool for exporting Role, but I think I cannot use it
because there is no way to acces the old server.

Contact Addresses
There should be a check box on the contact card to "always update address
info with parent."
Unless I am missing something, if one of our customers moves, I have a to
manually go in and update EVERY single contact associated with that account.
The check box applies so that outside sales people (or other not in the main
office) will not be updated.
At minimum there should be a button or menu option to copy parent account
address.

Printing Sales Orders
Hi, Does anyone know how to change to print form when you are in a sales
order and choose print? I can't seem to find it as a Crystal report form,
and we need to modify it to contain our custom fields and somehow break it
down to show each item on the sale order, not just the totals. This is
critical for our sales people.

XML Error Message
When I click on the Summary button for a case I receive an error message
stating the following. Error: Object doesn's support this property or method
Xml: undefined
The only choice I have is to click the OK button.
I then am able to go into the summary without any issues. This is just an
annoying error and if anyone can help me figure out why it is being displayed

CRM Redeploy - unable to register security service - hotfix
Scenario â?? MS CRM 1.2 installed and functional on DEV1 server. Related
databases on separate database server. Purchased a new surver to host CRM.
Need to install new instance of CRM on the new server that is attached to the
existing database so as not to lose any customer data.
Problem â?? Installation on new server failed. Message appeared saying
â??unable to register security serviceâ??, which is a vital part of the
application. CRM requires that all patches and hotfixes applied to the
original server must be applied to the new server for redeployment as well.
The event log message for the above mentioned error stated:
Error: Incorrect or incompatible database version. If you have applied any
patches or hotfixes for Microsoft CRM,
please apply them to this server as well.-2147467259 (0x80004005)
Description: Unspecified error
Comments: Database Version: 1.2.3297.106
Installed Version: 1.2.3297.0
QFE number to apply: 0
There was a hotfix that was applied to DEV1. However, the hotfix requires
that CRM Server be installed in order for it to be applied. So I installed
CRM again, opting to ignore the error messages, then successfully applied the
hotfix. I tried to uninstall/reinstall CRM again, but still received the
same error.
On the advice of some users on the MS CRM community boards, I added the
service accounts to the â??Pre windows 2000 Compatabilityâ?? group in Active
Directory. Did not help. Also made service account for main CRM service a
domain admin, still no help (service account is no longer domain admin, but
is still in pre win2k compato group.)
Solution â?? After further digging, I found the buildversion table in the
company_MSCRM database. It listed the build version and revision numbers in
one row of data. The revision number can be changed when hotfixes are
applied. That data apparently must match exactly that of the instance of CRM
you are trying to install (when attaching to an existing database, of course)
or the install will fail. The problem is that a fresh install of CRM has 0
for the revision number, so it will not match a previous install if there was
a hotfix applied. However, you can not apply the hotfix to the new server
until CRM is installed. This seems to be a catch 22. To get around this, I
manually changed the revision number in the table back to 0 then attempted
the install. It worked fine. I then reapplied the hotfix for good measure
(though it wouldnâ??t let me reinstall the hot fix until I changed the revision
number back to its original value, in this case 106). CRM then worked fine
and the problem was solved.

Modified on dates
I have a rather peculiar situation. Every time a record (Opp, Acct,
Contact) is opened, the modified on date is updated to the current date
and time.
I know that updating roles will have an effect on the modified on date,
and we are in the process of working with Tech Support to clear up some
security descriptor issues. However, I cannot replicate this issue in
any other environment I have worked in or have access to.
Anybody else seen anything like this before?

Dropdown and Popup Menus cut off through web interface.
When I connect to CRM through IE6, some of the menus are incomplete.
A couple of examples are:
1. The calendar popup is almost cut in half, so the right arrow on the top
of the calendar is cut off.
2. Under the actions dropdown menu, at the bottom should be a menu item
called Send Direct Email, but it's not showing up.
This problem only happens when I'm logged in through my vpn on my home
computer.
When I log in from the office with my office computer, everything displays

How to register 8-CD "CRM Sales Advisor" Kit

I recently registered as an MBS Partner. After discussing the "CRM Sales
Advisor" program, MBS sent me an 8-CD CRM Package that was said to be a
five-license kit for demonstration purposes.
I can't figure out how to register it to get a License Number. I've
successfully registered my MS Partner Action Pack CRM Package, but that one
came with a usable 25-digit Product Key. THIS SET has no Product Key.
Disk One has a yellow sticker that says:
"Volume Licensing Customer. To use this product you will need a Business
Solutions Registration Key. In order to obtain it, you must register this
product at:

Please note that to obtain your key, you will need to have your License
Agreement details. If you do not have these details, please contact your
reseller to obtain them prior to registering.
Unlicensed Software - Illegal without separate license from Microsof

I've tried numerous times to register it on the MBS CRM Registration Web
Site, but, with no Volume License Number and no Open License Number, I'm
running out of options.
I've spent a week corresponding with VOICE support, to no avail. So far, I
can't seem to reach anybody helpful at the MBS office in North Dakota, who
sent me this package. The paperwork says the package was odred by: VOICE
Services and MBSORDER.
Anybody know how to register this CRM package?

callout com+ via proxystub
hi,
i have developed a post callout routine. When i install the component
on the crm server as com+ it works fine.
Now i install the component on a other server as com+. I create a
proxstub/msi-package and install this on the crm server.
When i use the com+ proxy on the crm server with a own testtool it
works also fine, but when i use the crm webclient the server doesn't
make the callout to my compontent.
Have anybody a idea whats happen or what's wrong?

user can assign the email to another user but that is all. Can someone let me
know what types of permissions the user needs to assign that email to a case

Modifying ID in PickList
Hello,
We added some values in a pick list. We got the ID #.
Some values were deleted and we now need to mapping some fields.
Mapping between picklist only works with ID's.
I am wondering if there is anyway to get the deleted ID and modify the value.

Offer On Demand Web Demos For Product Installations
Microsoft seems to sometimes work from a problem up approach in terms of how
it posts information. I understand the reasoning behind this, but sometimes
just having the information on how a successful installation should go is
needed. I think it would be very beneficial if you offered "On Demand" Web
Demonstrations for installing products such as MS CRM, Great Plains and other
products.
I think you would reduce a lot of problems and simple questions if you had
an "On Demand" demonstration of how an installation should go. Then if an
individual runs into an issue a user could click on some links of potential
issues. This would direct an individual to a list of particular problems
that they can research. This may sound like a simplistic approach, but
sometimes less is more and getting just the basics demonstrated can go a long
way. For example, demonstrate an installation of CRM server, and also do a
demonstration of CRM Client for Outlook. Thank you.

I did a search for installation instructions for CRM and it reported no
articles found. Just loading CRM can be a major ordeal with this fix and

Label Merge
Hi,
Does anyone know how to use the label merge in SFO? I had measured the label
sizes but when i print it out, there were some data did not fit properly on
the label. How can i make them all fit on the label???
One thing i notice also, let say the records that i merged were 10. In the

Allotment Time Reset
When you create a contract line item and specify the allotment under
"Total Cases/Minutes", is this allotment reset monthly? or is this the
total allotment for the entire contract?
If the latter, how can I setup CRM to automatically allocate the

Hi All
I have a workflow in which there are around 15 activities, which are to be
strictly perform one after another but at the same time all of these
activities should be visible to its owner but this User should not be allowed
to perform an Activity if Activity previous to this one is not completed.
At the moment I create next Activity after completion of Previous Activity,
in this case User can see only that activity which he is suppose to act on.

SQL Server 2000 Report Pack for Microsoft CRM 1.2
Hi,
I have a single server deployment of Microsoft CRM 1.2 in Small Business
Server 2003. Where would I install the SQL Server 200 Report Pack for MS CRM?
Is it in my current installation server (SBS 2003) or in a different
workstation just like in the setup for Crystal Reports, wherein Crystal
Reports 9.2.2 should not be installed in CRM server.
Actually I have tried to install the Report Pack in my single server
deployment but I encountered this error: object reference not set to an
instance of an object I have already complied with the system requirements
except for having the Visual Studio.NET 2003 installed which is declared as
optional. Do I have to install the Visua Studio.NET 2003 to resolve this
error?

Workflow Accelerator Not Working
I installed the first part of the CRM Workflow Accelerator, the Marketing
Process. When I added my first test lead, the Workflow Monitor shows the
Lead rule running but the log shows an error and the process is paused. The
error in the log is:

Launching an .Executable through the ISV.config file
Hello,
Is there anyway to launch an executable using the isv.config. Adding a
button and associating a URL to it is not a problem but wanted to see if I
could associate other file types
For example, the local box may have an executable that kicks off a separate
process for integration or the file may be located on a shared directory on a
different server.

Problem Printing Custom Report in CRM
When we try to print a custom report from CRM, we receive the following error
from Crystal:

We can see it on the screen and can exported to Word.
I have seen similiar problem in the Newgroup. The suggestion was to verify

Assigning Cases...
We are in the process of completing a MS CRM 1.2 Professional Configuration
here in our office.
I have come across item I need to change but not sure how to accomplish this
task.
In our office when a case is put into our current system, the person putting
the case in assigns the case to an engineer. However, in our current
configuration of CRM 1.2, when we create a case, we are not allowed to assign
this case to another person in the system. The lookup button is grayed out.
I assume since the button is there it can be done but not sure what setting
I may have missed to allow this to happen.

Is there any way in a workflow e-mail to modify the from field to be the

Exchange connector
We moved our CRM deployment from one server to another server. Everything
works well except the routing of the e-mails. The exchange connector is
installed without problems. Mails however are not send and creates
(unexpected) errors on the client.
In KB861418, MS states that The Microsoft CRM Exchange E-mail Router is
designed to work with one Microsoft CRM Server installation. During the
installation process, you can add more than one Microsoft CRM Server in the
wizard, but the router will only send e-mails to the first Microsoft CRM
Server that is available.
We never moved the CRM from the old server, but kept it there as a BackUp
solution.
Is the above mentioned KB article referring to actual active CRM-servers, or
just any CRM server available? If this is the problem, how is everybody else
handling with this kind of situation, and if not what could cause the problem?

MSCRM 3.0 database
Hi,
Does anybody about the MSCRM 3.0 database, does it use the same schema
as 1.x? In other words will there be any data conversion needed when
upgrading? I browsed through the MS whitepaper about upgrading but I
did not see anything about upgrading the DB or data migration. So I
assumed that just the application will be upgraded (as well as email
router etc.) and the 1.x version database will remain the same. But on
the other hand, since for example there will be a possibility in the
3.0 to create custom entities, I'm not sure if they can handle
everything with the old schema.
If anybody knows any info about this, please let me know.

I have a workflow which sets the first activity to a team leader. I then
want the team leader to assign this activity to one of his team and then all
other activities set in the workflow to be assigned to this user. I was
hoping logical user would help in this situation but is doesn't.

recently, we dropped a domain-control (Other DCs remain), other servers and
clients can work well, but the CRM System cannot work, the dialog will
appear that (External Error - No Such Object On Server. "The selected object
could not be found. Verify that the object exists in both the database and
Active Directory.")
Then I let all my staff to stop working and Formated the computer, and
reinstalled SQL server (and use sp_attach_DB to attach the original
CRM databases). Then reinstalled the CRM Server 1.2 software.
After that, the problem remains. I want to know
(1) Which object ? (2) where to verify? (3) How to correct?
Please help me. Because all coleagues are waiting for me to start

Post callouts fire SOMETIMES...
Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has heard of this before or has any information
that may help.
I have a custom application that sends inserts, updates, and deletes to
CRM. This app works perfectly and when these changes are sent to CRM
via the framework the post-callouts are fired.
I also use the CRM user interface that is packages with CRM and when a
make a change to an account or contact within that UI post-callouts are
NOT fired.
It worked before from either application and I'm really not sure when
it stopped working, but it was most likely within a month. I'm
guessing that it is an update or service pack 1 that I installed, but I
really have no clue.

Workflow and Permissions
I am trying to create a workflow rule that can be manually applied to Leads.
The rule will update some fields and create some activities. However, when I
attempt to apply my rule, I receive the message:
"You do not have sufficient Acces Rights or Privileges to perform this
action"
I'm a bit confused by that, because I hold every role in the system
including System Administrator. What access rights do I need to apply a
workflow rule to a lead? What is preventing me from doing this?

Closed Activity Error - Details of Meeting Cannot Be Displayed
I have a problem in which I cannot display activity details for closed
appointments. This is random problem as I can opening other activities and
appointments for different and same timeperiods. We have done no system
customizations or additions to the database other than regular data entry.
The error message I am getting is as a follows:

Does anyone know how to add attachment on email merge in SFO? Is it possible
to do so without customization??
