Unsubscribe option in marketing e-mail
Hello,
I just can not find documentation about how to set unsubscribe option in
marketing e-mails.
Icon is visible but do nothing.
I just want to put unsubscribe text at the bottom of our marketing emails

(based on MS presentations) that CRM automatically change attribute in

Any idea where is such functionality described ?

Paging Limit
Hi all,
I've a little Pronlem with the Paging Limit.
In Version 1.2 You can set the Max or min Value in the
<CRMWeb>\Tools\personalsettings\dialogs\personalsettings.aspx file.
But how can a set this in the 3.0?
My Problem is some of your useres select 250. But this value is to large.
The should only have 50.
I can set it in the UserSettings Database, but all useres can set it again
to 250.
So I must lock the Values over 50 for each user.
So I hope somebody know how I can change this.
Thanks,

CRM in the Service Industry.
Good Evening.
I am looking for some advice on the capabilities of Microsoft CRM. We are a
Microsoft Certified Partner looking at options for CRM. We have found many
of our customers are beginning to investigate CRM solutions, however there
appear to be no adequate solutions providers in our region.
I have started investigating Microsoft CRM with several options in mind.
1) To up skill our own technicians to be capable of supporting and
integrating CRM, with the view of also becoming a Business Solutions
Partner.
2) Implementing CRM within our own internal systems to improve our own
management and give us experience in supporting the systems.
A current area of concern for us is job scheduling and billing. I was hoping
to utilising CRM to manage our service technicians, manage the incoming work
from and clients, and schedule the appropriate time within the technicians
calendars to carry out the work and resolve the job.
This looks relatively straight forward and it does not appear we are trying
to reinvent the wheel here. However what is not clear is how to generate the
customer billing from the work carried out.
When the technician resolves the case, billable hours does appear, however I
can not see any system for generating an invoice from the case.
Is it possible to generate invoices from this stage? Or is there another
step in the process I am missing here? Is CRM even capable of carring out
this task?
I would be exceedingly grateful if someone could answer these questions, and
possibly point me in the direction of some case studies or reading material
from people who have attempted similar.
Thanks in advance

Picklists in CRM 3.0
Hey guys,
Im having a lot of issues with Picklists in CRM 3.0 and was wondering
if anybody could help me out.
I have a C# app that is populating a bunch of accounts into CRM 3.0.
In my c# app i have a dataview and am looping through the dataview
items and generating accounts in CRM using CRM's WebServices.
(example code)
.....begin loop.....
account theAccount= new account();
theAccount.name =
dvTheCompanies[x].Row[1].ToString();
theAccount.new_firstname =
dvTheCompanies[x].Row[2].ToString();
theAccount.new_lastname =
dvTheCompanies[x].Row[3].ToString();
theAccount.new_jobtitle =
dvTheCompanies[x].Row[4].ToString();
theAccount.new_tsgteamassignment.name =
dvTheCompanies[x].Row[5].ToString(); //this fails here
Guid theAccountID = crmService.Create(theAccount);
....end loop....
debugging through my code everything works fine except the picklist,
which errors out with "Object reference not set to an instance of an
object."
so i tried theAccount.new_tsgteamassignment.Value = 2 but i get the
same error. My question is how do i create an account enitity in CRM
3.0 and populate the picklists inside that enitity?

How to insert a hyperlink to a CRM record into an E-mail created via workflow
Thought this might be of interest to folks here.
Dynamics CRM 3.0 has a new way to add data from fields in CRM entities using
what are called "slugs". This is a pretty simple way to get data into an
E-mail that is created in response to some event. However, you may have
discovered that there is a very limited subset of the fields available as
slugs. Even some bits of data that were easily accessible in CRM 1.2
Workflow are not available as slugs in 3.0.
This tutorial will show you a quick and easy way to insert a hyperlink to a
CRM record into an E-mail created via workflow.

CRM 3.0 Creation and Implementation
We just finished getting our CRM 3.0 server installed, and are in the process
of configuring it for use within our business.
What I am seeing is that CRM is designed more for businesses that sell
actual product, and doesn't have much use (other than contact management) for
a service based business. We provide consulting and hosting services for
other businesses.
Is there any documentation anywhere on typical deployment etc for a service
based business? Or documentation that gives a breakdown or sample of how it
should be set up. Or even a way to populate the install with sample data, to
give me a better picture of how CRM should be used.
I was able to import my contact list of clients from a CSV that I exported
from ACT 2006. So now I'm trying to learn how to actually use CRM to improve
day-to-day processes. Unfortunately, I havent been able to find much good
documentation. But then again, Microsoft's knowledgebase is difficult to
find anything useful in. Perhaps I just don't know how to search it properly.
Any input or direction will be much appreciated. Tag: CRM 3.0 - Adding new address to Customer entity Tag: 56184

Mapping Quote Product to Order Product to Invoice Product
Hi, I've got some custom attributes in the Quote Product, Order Product and

Case and reference numbers vs tracking with tokens
Hello,
Since the lack of documentation available, I would like someone to tell me
if I understand the behaviour of CRM 3.0 services from webcrm:
1. I have a 'support' mailbox with a 'system' maibox which converts my
e-mails into activities.
2. When a cutomer sends an e-mail to the 'support' mailbox, it is converted
in an activity by the 'system' mailbox but I can't convert it automatically
to a 'case' (available with a third party extension or sdk coding with .net)
. From the open e-mail window, I select 'new -> case' and I manually create a
'case' for this issue.
3. Once it is saved, I have a workflow rule that sends an e-mail to the
customer that there is an open case on his/her issue assigned to an 'owner'
with a 'request' number on the subject line 'CRM:xxxxx' and a case reference
number in the body 'CAS-xxxx-xxxx' (all this from a template already
available).
4. The e-mail window is still open so I attach the newly created case with
the 'Regarding' drop down list, save and close it, and then to remove it from
the queue, delete-it (it is now stored in all activities with a reference to
the case).
My questions are:
- Do these steps make sense so far?
- From point 3, the customer has received an e-mail from the 'owner' of the
case and not the 'support' e-mail. If he replies back to this e-mail, it will
go into the owner mailbox only. To be treated by the crm system it needs to
be sent by (and reply to) the 'support' user! How can I modify this without
having the client to create a new mail to 'support' and placing the token in
the subject line instead of replying to the owner ?
- In the e-mail of point 3, the 'request' number is used by the crm server
which is on the subject line for tracking purposes but I can find where to
use it in the system to do a search on a case (no association). I need to use
the 'case' number to track down a case in the system... If I understand, to
reply by e-mail, the client needs to use the 'request' number and if he
calls, he needs to use the 'case' number?
- How can a CSR be alerted when a e-mail is sent back with a token and
attached to a case without having to look in the associated activities of the
case?
I apologise for the lenght of the post but I would really appreciate your
opinions on how I proceed.
Many thanks

CRM 3.o and External Connector license
Hi,
Just wanted to make sure about this licensing option. As far as I
understand, if I purchase the external connector license, nothing
really gets installed to CRM. In other words external connector license
does not increase the number of possible CRM users in the CRM system?
And if that is correct, then the external users that use some type of
custom portal to interact with the CRM system, do not need to be CRM
users.
Any comments regarding this licensing option are greatly appreciated
since I couldn't find too much information about this even from MS CRM
marketing materials.

Custom entity extremely slow to load in browser...

The custom entities I have created that have more than 50 or so records seem
to take forever to load in the browser when I'm looking at a view of "All

goes into (Not Responding) condition, then finally loads.
When I look at the same type of view through the Outlook client it loads
within a couple of seconds. This is using the Desktop/Connected version of
Outlook, so it's not pulling from a local/offline database on the client.
Any known issues with this, or are there some db indexes that may need to be

SQL 2000 Reporting Service/Reports on MS CRM 3 web - allowing for FQDN?
Hi,
A bit of background.
We have a deployment of CRM 3.0 installed and working fine on our
Windows 2003 CRM server in a Windows 2003 AD. Still having problems
with clients on Outlook (PC's are not a member of a domain), but
playing with the web-based interface for now.
Got a problem with the Reports part of CRM - this is based on the
standard Reporting Services for SQL Server 2000 (SP4) - hence I've sent
to public.sqlserver groups also.
Clicking on Reports in CRM web takes you to the list of available
reports fine, but when you try to 'Run report', it returns a 401.
I know why this is happening, and a basic workaround proves it, but am
looking for a decent server-side resolution.
We have an AD (e.g. domain.com), with CRM/SQL installed on a box within
a child domain (comp.domain.com). However, our web caching, proxy, DNS
for the root of the our domain (domain.com) is not handled by the AD,
its handled by our Unix/Sun guys.
If we connect to the CRM reports via the web on an AD member PC, 'Run
report' works fine for each report because it knows that our CRM/SQL
Reporting server (sake of example called crm1), is in the domain, and
that its Windows hosts name is http://crm1 ( =
http://crm1.comp.domain.com). The problem is calling the reports from a
non domain member fails with a 401 because it tries to call http://crm1
(i.e. no FQDN), and thus goes to our Unix-based domain/DNS and tries to
resolve to http://crm1.domain.com, not crm1.comp.domain.com. Hence it
fails.
I've proved that if I bung a hosts entry in
C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts to resolve crm1 to the IP, it
corrects the problem, but we don't want to have to maintain host files
in our total IP-based network, and our CRM deployment might eventually
have >1000 clients - some on domain, others not, some on trusted
domains, some remote users.
I might be able to get our Unix/Sun bods to some fiddle redirect their
end, but would prefer to keep everything within our Windows set-up.
Having looked at one of the reports in C:\Program Files\Microsoft
CRM\Reports\MSCRM on our CRM/SQL server, e.g. "User Summary.rdl", we
can see that the code for this report is calling the following
variable:
Parameters!CRM_serverURL.value
Which is presumably pulling this from somewhere (SQL database? a config
file in CRM? IIS?) and thats whats resolving it to http://crm1.
The question is, does anyone know where this parameter is pulling its
data from, because if so, can I change it to reflect
http://crm1.comp.domain.com and thus ensure that the Reports section
always uses the FQDN to work?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

CRM 3.0 Outlook client doesn't appear to synchronize behind the sc
It appears that, while the CRM 3.0 client for Outlook should be synching
behind the scenes, it is not. Explicit requests to synch still must be made
from the Outlook interface. Furthermore, when the the client finds itself
unexpectedly without connection to the CRM server, the date that is reflected
in the message box that pops up confirms that the data you will be using

Assigned cases in both "assigned" and in "progress queue"?
In the training material for the service management course, there's a
question about cases that are assigned to a user. The question is "where does
a case go when it's assigned to a user?".
According to the appendix, the correct answer is "the user's in progress
queue" AND "the user's assigned queue". Is this really correct? When I
assign a case to myself, it appears only in the "assigned" area, and after
accepting, it's moved to the "in progress" area. Not in both as the training

Cycle CRM Virtual PC, but it uses SQL Server 2005. We are using SQL
Server 2000.
How can I get the Adventure Works data into my Virtual PC?
Are there any scripts anybody has developed to add a heap of data into
CRM?

placeholder questionmark (?)
Hi,
in the Microsoft CRM search you can use the star (*) as placeholder for
several characters.
Is there also the possibility to replace ONE character by a placeholder?
Like the questionmark?
Example:
search string: Ma?er
results: Maier, Mayer
and Maller, Manner etc. should not be found.

Attachment and Company logo in e-mail
I have a specific requirement of sending attachment with the e-mail and also
include company logo in the e-mail.
I am not able to achieve this. Attachment can be made to a direct e-mail as
a workrule, but company logo cannot be put.
If i use an e-mail template, i can put the logo but not the attachment. Any
way of achieving both? Any help in this direction is greatly appreciated. Tag: CRM 3.0 - Adding new address to Customer entity Tag: 56093
