Trying to figure out how the account and contact information is linked? You
can create an account and associate it with a primary contact but when you
go to the contact the account information isn't there and you have to
associate it back to the account. Seems like an awful lot of work?

Yes and no.

This actually allows you to provide a "primary contact" that doesn't
actually work at the account. Not as intuitive as you might expect, but
actually a nice feature.

So how do you keep track of activities by account?

Scenerio...
I have a meeting with a client named Bob at Acme. Do I create an activity
based on the account Acme or the contact Bob? If I do Bob and then look at
all activites for my Account Acme it doesn't show anything.

You've hit the old where is the 360 degree view issue...
One feature missing in MS CRM is the ability to see all information about an
account regardless of where you entered it. In your case if you enter
activities under contacts then they dont appear under the account etc.

the solution while your waiting for microsoft to implement it is to look at
ana addon from www.c360.com which appears to give the functioanlity you need

There is also another workaround (although I think we're
going to go the www.c360.com route) but you can insert
both the account and the contact name in the activity
manually. This solution requires each user to
actively "invite" all accounts/contacts that they want
the activity to appear under.
