    - CRM Guidance Hi There, I have a subscription based business & am considering a CRM 1.2 installation. Each contact would have a number of subscriptions on a certain product, with a certain frequency and a certain subscription type. I want to do this installation myself & was wondering if there was any guides or if anyone has some suggestions.     - Multiple companies / hosted exchange environment Hello, We operate a very small hosted exchange environment for a few small businesses and one of them would like us to provide MS CRM for their usage. They have looked at the documented options of running their own SBS Server with CRM but they have no support staff themselves and would like to keep their Exchange services as they are and if possible bolt on CRM. I know there would be no problem installing CRM in our infrastructure, but would there be any limitations as to the hosted-exchange side? Also at a later date could we add additional companies to CRM if another of our customers requests it; or is each CRM installation limited to running as a single business?     - Managing Leads / Opportunities / Accounts etc... We ahve just had CRM installed at work and after two days of trying to work out how to get the best from the product for our business has left my head buzzing!! We have a three tier channel model -Distributors - Resellers and End Users. Could anyone give me an idea of the best way to link all our channel information. My first train of though was to set up all our distributors as parent accounts of our resellers (Sub Accounts??), but then resellers do not always purchase from the same disty and how do I link the end user data??? My next problem is any product downloads / enquiries which we allocated to our distributors and then they allocate to resellers, I need to track somehow and create weekly reports on......     - CRM Email and customizing activities list I'm new to CRM and have two issues I can't seem to solve. 1. Email activity exists in My Work -> EMail. These messages came from external customers. What do I have to do to make these go away from this view? 2. Can the Activities list and Activities History list be customized?     - Crm install I recently installed CRM Server 1.2 and all went well. It said it was successfully installed. But the web stuff has broken all my web sites. After the initial install I added the Microsoft CRM Accounts to Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access Group. The next step said to Change the Crystal Enterprise Administrator Password this returns an error of Unable to change password. Error returned is : This is an unexpeted token.     - Updating CRM Templates Currently we have our CRM templates (to use for mail merging) saved locally. We would like to move these onto a shared drive on our network. However, the problem is that when they are shared, we are experiencing a normal.dot issue because it is being accessed by more than one person at a time. We are told there is no way around the normal.dot issue. So we are fine storing the templates locally. However, we would like to set up a process for updating these templates periodically, in the event that changes/updates need to be made. Since they are stored locally, not everyone would receive the updates though. Is there an automatic process to set up to achieve this? After the reinstall, whenever I try to view a contact or account record. The pop-up window appears then it generates an error page.     - One Activity Record - Two 'Owners' Hi I was under the impression that all records in MSCRM have only one owner. However if I create a phone activity and then assign it to another user to deal with the activity shows up under the 'My Activities' view for both users, thus appearing to have two users who can call it 'mine' i.e two owners. Obviously I would not want it appearing as an open activity for me as I have just assigned it to someone else. Can anyone comment on this issue of two owners or suggest a way to assign calls as I require? I could probably also change the 'Call Initiator' field to the assigned user as well (taking another four clicks) but it does not seem right to have to assign it twice!     - Using MSCRM remotely, pre-sale questions Hello all, I want to know if I could make CRM part of my "virtual office". Would MSCRM work well in the following configuration? 1. Installed on MS SBS 2003 premium (I read the installing CRM on SBS 2003 instructions at the MS site) 2. The SBS would be installed on a dedicated server which would be hosted remotely at a quality server coloc 3. Up to five clients would access CRM from their PCs, laptops, or pocket PCs at their remote locations I don't know enough about SBS or MSCRM yet to know if the above would work well. Our company is made up of several people all working out of their houses all of who have high speed connections. Could this set up would work well to allow us all to access MSCRM? The clients would be using Outlook 2003 which would hit Exchange on the SBS for email. Would the MSCRM on the server work together with the clients' Outlook and the server's Exchange?     - GPS Coordinates Field Good day, Seems like default addresses have a longitude and latitude field within MSCRM 1.2. Unfortunately a float data type has been configured which does not allow for modification. The format of a coordinate would be something like Of course we could enter our own custom field but with MS Map Point being a future consideration we would like leverage from this by using captured data in the correct format... Depending on accuracy required we could have values such as Redmond being 47-40'27.32 The only allowable format wraps the numerical value entered into something in the fashion of 471,027.32 - similar to a currency value this doesnt look great at all and can cause the lack of adoption by users...     - KB article search replies with "No Article records available in this view" I have seen this problem mentioned other places in these forums but the "fixes" didn't work on our end. At first we got errors when running a search but that was fixed by running the command: use <database> go exec sp_fulltext_database 'enable' go After that we did a "Start Full Population". We do searches that should show up results but we don't get any. We then did a rebuild to the database. That didn't help as well. So we submitted and published a new article and then did a search for it but got the same result "No Article records available in this view". The KB articles work fine otherwise but with our growing number of articles the search feature is crucial. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.     - CRM Privilege Error Hi Guys I am in a pretty sticky situation. At my company the CRM installation was done by a colleague who wasn't very sure of what he was doing and without consulting deployment guides did the installation and now numerous components of CRM donot work. I have managed to fix most of the problems but i'm still sitting with one whereby when a CRM user tries to make use of the "send direct email" functionality on CRM web it comes up saying that he has insufficient privileges to complete the task. After reading and re-reading the deployment guides etc i noticed 3 key factors that he had left out of his install that could p[otentially affect permissions viz. 1. He did not add the machine to the "Pre Windows 2000 Compatible Access" group in AD - Which i have now done 2. He did not modify the "Exchange Advanced Attribute" to include "CRMEmailEnabled" - Which i have now done 3. He did not add the domain users group to the SQL Databases that CRM writes to - Which i have now done As far as i can tell every issue pertinent to permissions etc has been completed by myself but still whenever a user tries to send direct mail it just brings up the error mentioned above constantly. I have come in the back end of this installation trying to figure out what this guy has done and having never seen CRM before up until 3 days ago i feal as though i'm banging my head against a brick wall. The worst of it is that my manager expects an answer soon. Look i wouldn't bother you guys if i didn't have to but after having read all the literature i could get my hands on and still coming up with nothing i am at my wits end.     - Number of Records Supported Does anyone out there know what is a reasonable number of records for MS CRM to support? I have a client that is looking to take a new CRM product and have looked at ACT! but it only supports 100,000 records max. They are also looking at Goldmine Corporate, but i have my doubts about that too. They are looking for something that is capable of handling between 6 and 10 milliion records in the next 18 to 24 months. It needs to be able to handle all these records and yet be able to 'sort' or 'query' the database on the fly to produce contact lists / call lists. They are a call centre and are currently generating about 1,000 leads / contacts a day, but they expect to increase that to something in the order of 10,000 contacts a day.     - Outlook / CRM Sales Synchronization I have installed the Sales client for Outlook on a machine that has access to the CRM system. After installing, I would like to synchronize and be able to go offline. In all the previous attempts, after going offline, I could not go online again. I got a cryptic message to contact the system administrator. After browsing MSDN for a while, I discovered that I should have a Synchronize option on my Tools menu. It does not appear there. I have tried to completely uninstall and reinstall, but with no luck. I have also applied the Rollup 1 to fix those problems, but still cannot go offline, then come back online.     - Access denied error when accessing notes under one account I have full rights to everything in CRM. There is only one account out of many in our CRM database that have this problem. The problem is when you click on the notes tab to the left side you get an access denied error. I can go into any other section for that account without a problem.     - Problem after CRM reinstall on same server My CRM server is running on the same server as exchange and SQL server is on another server. Everuthing was running OK until... To solve a problem with Crystal report service not starting, I tried to uninstall CRM and reinstall it on the same server, giving instruction to use the existing database. After installing CRM, i have noticed in the event viewer on the server that
CRM generates an errorin the form of something like

Error: Account names not mapped with domain users security IDs.

How do i solve this?
