Reply/Forward CRM Email Reply from Outlook Inbox
Situation:
A CRM user (person A) sends an email to a contact (person B) via Sales for
Outlook Client. This email is shown under Activity History for that contact.
'Person B' replies to the email. That email comes back and is added to the
Activity History (because of the email router) too. 'Person A'
forwards/replies to the message from 'Person B' from their Outlook Inbox;
however, the message will not be posted to the Activity History for that
client. You must forward/reply to the message from the Activity History in
order for this message to be posted to CRM.
Question/Suggestion:
We are currently using CRM version 1.2. Will this change in the next
version? Is there a purpose to having it setup this way?
We'd really like to be able to reply from our Outlook Inbox instead of
having to go to the Activity History to reply to or forward the message after
the reply to the initial email. It is something that we would really like
changed.

Fetch XML and Relative Dates
Is it possible to use relative dates beyond the preconfigured
conditions in Fetch XML? For example, I want to return all records
created 30 days ago to present. I would want something similar to
this:

I understand there are pre-configured conditions dealing with dates
like 'last-seven-days', 'last-week', 'last-month', and 'last-year'.
But, unless there is a 'last-XX-days', where XX can be any number of
days, these won't due.
So, the condition line above doesn't work, but is there something
similar that does?

3rd party databases
Hello everyone, am a newbie (3 weeks) to CRM, consulting for a company using
CRM1.2, about existing and new Crystal Reports.
My question concerns the Axonom "Power Trak" database used by the CRM add on
from Axonom. It is on the same SQL server that the CRM database is on.
Is it possible to create new reports using data from this database and data
from the CRM database through the CRM connection? (I hope not!)
If not, what would be the recommended/best/cheapest/easiest way to view
reports that use a 3rd party database? Or reports using ole-db and stored
procedures? I have some ideas on this, just looking for someway I haven't
thought of.

importing a product list/catalog
I'm trying to import a list of products into CRM 1.2 - can anyone provide
direction on the best approach here?
My product list comes in two forms:
1. an ASCII, comma delimited, double-quote text qualified file (similar to
the text files that can be used to import Contacts)
2. several DBF files that cross reference one another - one for product
pricing, one for product description, one for manufacturer codes, etc.
What are my options? I would prefer the quick and easy approach.
Once the data is imported we will need to update the entire database on a
daily basis - it would involve replacing all the data with updated entries.
Any suggestions? I could not find any documentation on how to import
products into the CRM catalog nor do I see any training resources and/or

Email router problems
Hi,
I have two issues regarding emails from CRM (1.2, English version).
1. I have installed the email router and I send email from CRM (web) and it
puts the GUID in the subject and OK. But when the recepient respons the
email it should be recognized and saved automatically to CRM and connect to
the contact right ? This does not happen, what is wrong? Email is only
visible in Outlook inbox and not CRM.
2. When I send CRM emails to Domino Server (Lotus Notes) all icelandic
characters are replaced in the subject. Is there some workaround for this?

Suggestion for Activities
I'm sure this is going to be addressed in v2.0, but Categories for Activities
would be excellent if they were integrated with Subjects... It would allow
for better data integrety (no free text!) and thus better organization of
Activities...

Form template change, not being reflected
Hi all,
I've made a change to my Account template, to include different credit
terms. The template and the preview of the template show up find, but
when I go under New - Account, the new terms I've added do not show up.
I've tried going under Deployment Manager and publishing it out...is
there an interim step I'm missing?

Strange security role behavior - Urgent please!
I have a problem with security roles within two business units (B.U.)
In each BU I created a security role that has the following privileges:
Read Accounts - Organization
Read Cases - User
I want all users to be able to access all accounts and to access only cases
created by them.
In B.U.1 with user1: I create an account and in that account I create a case
In B.U.2 with user2: I create a case for that same account.
My problem is: User 1 can access both cases, and user 2 see only that case
that was created by him. In my opinion the systems is working as expected for
User 2, only. I think user1 should not be able to access user2â??s created
incidentâ?¦
Iâ??m saying this because the security roles only have privileges to see cases
of the user.

Manager in the deployment Snap-In I get this error:

Adventure Works licenses question
Hi all,
My company is using the Adventure Works Cycle MSDN license for testing
purpose.
We also bought the full Suite Pro license with about 25 users to be put on
the prod environment.
My question is: is it possible to extend the number of users (from the
initial 15) in the Adventure Works Cycle test platform?

Uninstall - Update Rollup 1 For Microsoft CRM Server 1.2 (KB892949)
Hi,
I just uninstalled this along with the CRmserver (needed to perform a fresh
install). When I tried to re-install the CRM I had the message about
requiring to configure APS.NET and/or the .NET framework before installing.
As this was a VMimage, I just reverted back to the snapshot before I
uninstalled it and continued without removing it. Has anyone had a similar
problem or any advice other than dont remove it?

Imported data is not visible to other users......
I imported data into CRM using CRM Import functionality and some with
Direct SQL inserts through smart way.
I am able to see the data and i am able to browse it and update it.
My User is assigned to Sales Person Role, System Administrator Role and
Sales Manager Role. So i can see all data.
Sales Department has Sales Person Rights but they are not able to View
the Accounts that ,Notes and Activities.

ActiveX Security settings and XP Home
I have a client machine running XP home trying to access our CRM website. The
logon credentials are accetped, but when the necessary ActiveX components try
to download an error message stating the internet explorer Security setting
"Run ActiveX controls and plugins" needs to be set to Enable. This
modification has been made as we were directed and yet we continue to get
this securoty message which prevents the use from getting to the CRM website.
Is there an issue with XP home and CRM server? Can someone please direct me
on how to fix this issue.

Reinstall SFO error
Trying to reinstall SFO (Version 1.2) and it fails when attempting to install
MSDE. I get the follow error: "Set has failed because of an error. Setup was
unable to install Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (sp3a). Install it
seperatly and restart setup.exe."
I have read all posts on this and tried everything.
I removed all folders (sql and crm), enabled file and print sharing, made
sure server service was started, i have a crm license and role, I have admin
rights on my machine, and can access crm through browser. Is there anything

IIS authentication configuration/web client login issues
I have a fresh install of CRM 1.2 Suite Professional w/ 5 MSDN partner
licenses.
- Win2K Active Directory domain users can authenticate to the CRM web client
only when IIS is configured for basic authentication. Unfortunately, with
basic authentication, I can not view users within User Manager (User Manager:
The server localhost is not responding. ... you know the rest of the message)
nor can I publish customizations (CRMsrvr: ***Error*** Failed to download XSL
template files from Web Server).
- In order for me to view users within User Manager and publish
customizations I must enable "Integrated Windows authentication". However,
when this is done, domain users can no longer authenticate to the CRM web
client. Users are prompted for a login/password as usual but instead of
getting access, they are rejected.
What am I missing?

Problem importing leads/contacts with embedded comma in fields
When importing .csv file, if a text field that is delimited with double
quotes contains a comma the import tool still see the comman and separated
the field into two or more fields, which then shifts all the following fields
into the wrong position.
Am I missing a fix. I am running CRM 1.2 with the last rollup. Was there an
earilier patch to fix this.

CRM Website
I am hoping that someone can help me. I have installed Microsoft CRM on a
small business server. the url to the website is http://crmweb when I enter
the url I get a dialog box asking for login information. After I enter the
information sometimes i will work, other times is will just sit there and
tell me "conecting to <server name>.<Domain name>.local After it works and I
log in I get excited that finally it's working, but when I sign in again it
no longer works.
I'm just not sure what to do

I'm desperate - Error finishing installation CRM
I am using Reployment Tools.
I followed the steps according to manual with no problems but when i start
CRM Installation near the end it gives me this error messages â??Setup was
unable to add the specified license key to your Microsoft CRM Deployment: s.
When you complete setup, manually add the license key in license managerâ??
After completing the installation I restart the server and try to open CRM
from Internet Explorer. It gives me this error â??An Error Occurred. For more

I tried to open Deployment manager to add the license Key manually. It gives
me this error â??The selected snap-in did not initialize properlyâ??
And I found this error in Application Event â??IsCRMSysAdmin: WhoAmI Faildâ??.
Second I go with redeployment tool and after completing the redeployment
wizard successfully. And begin to install the crm It gives me the same errors
above

Country list
Hi all,
I'd like to add a list of all the countrys in the world to the Country
field in the CRM to allow our users to select from a drop-down list. I
can't seem to modify the Address1_Country field type in the Schema to
make it a Picklist. I'm sure someone has already thought of this -
Anyone know how to do it ? I guess I could create a new field and make
it a pick-list, but we already have 15,000 + records in the CRM and the
field Address1_Country is used.

No Activities created after reassigned - Workflow
I am trying to trigger an email to a sales manager when activities are not
created by a certain time by a Sales Person. The problem is as follows:
A Telemarketer calls on the lead and creates activities as to the follow up;
once qualified, the lead is assigned to a Sales Person.
I would like to create a workflow that looks at the time condition and
checks for activities after it has be reassigned. (There are already
activities from the telemarketer) but none from the sales person. The sales
manager wants an email if there are no activities since it was reassigned.

Hello. I have a problem when open the Workflow Manager or Monitor. Says
something like "Error with date, time and format setting. Settings
incompatible with used in Workflow Manager".
I have this deployment:
Server 1 - W2000 (English) + MS CRM 1.2 (English)
Server 2 - W2000 (spanish) + SQL 2000 (Spanish) + AD (Spanish)
Could be my problem a language incompatibility problem?.

Removing the Quotes Folder in Navigation Pane of Outlook 2003
I have CRM 1.2 installed and we are working mostly with Outlook but as it's
the standard version for all outlook clients I would like to remove some
folders in the Microsoft CRM Folder like: Quotes, orders, invoices, Online
Services.
As with the standrad version we do not have access to those folders there is
no need to show them. If we try open them with get the message "insuficient
permissions...."
which is normal but when we try to close it we can't get out anymore. We
received all the time hthe message: Operation failed.
Any idea how I can do it?

We are experiencing problems with our CRM system. When we try to access
Workflow Manager we receive the following error:
"The specified Microsoft CRM server is not responding. This might happen if
it is currently unavailable or it is not a Microsoft CRM server. For more
information, contact your administrator."
We receive the following error when trying to access User Manager:
"The server localhost is not responding. This might happen if it is
currently unavailable, if it is not a Microsoft CRM server, or you do not
have sufficient privileges to run User Manager. For more information, contact
your system administrator."
When receive the following error when trying to access CRM via the web
client, we receive the following error:
"You are not authorized to view this page. You do not have permission to
view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied because
your Web browser is sending a WWW-Authenticate header field that the Web
server is not configured to accept. HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized: Access
is denied due to server configuration. Internet Information Services (IIS)"
We were in IIS yesterday looking at settings to determine what the problem
is, but were unsuccessful. How do we get our system back up and running?

File Upload Failure
Hello, All!
I have a problem with file attachments in CRM 1.2. When I open Contact,
select Notes, create new Note, click Browse, select large file
(approximately more than 6 MB) and click Attach, the alert raises:
File Upload Failure
There was a problem while attempting to upload the requested file. Check the
file path and try again.
I investigated that error code returned by /MSCRMSERVICES/NoteUpload.srf is
80044a02.
I haven't found any articles containing 80044a02 in the MSDN, Google etc.
Also I have a problem with file names, containing russian chars. They are
smoothly being attached and visible, but when I trying to open or save an
attachment, filename becomes an empty string and failure occurs.
Does anybody faced such a problems?

Publishing and subsequent iisresets changed database records...
Hi,
Just a quick question, can a subsequent iisresets and publishing of
customizations during office hours change/alter database records in CRM? To
be specific, below are the details:
1. The IT Admin did a customization on Case forms.
2. He then published it and did subsequent iisresets during office hours
when users are still logged on to CRM.
3. During this time, a CRM user reported a "General network error", but this
only happened ones.
3. After the publishing of the customization, 2 CRM users who previously
owns 800+ & 1000+ records, now owns only 13 records each.
Now, given this scenario, something must have happened in the background. No
trace in the logs either except for the MSCRMDeletionService error. I have
also checked the customization XML file and no inconsistencies there.
Here are some facts that could also be helpful:
1. A CRM user at that time is doing some record assignment (account
assigning) to a specific group of records.
Any insights on this? or any theories you can come up with that could cause
this error?
I would really appreciate if you could help me on this...

outlook w/crm add-in vs web-client
Folks,
I am rather new to MSCRM - and have scoured the posts and I am trying to
figure out what are the disadvantages of using outlook w/add-in vs strictly
using web client.
A couple of comments from using and reading listserv:
1. If in outlook and want outlook/crm synched use buttons for performing
actions (e.g. click 'CRM Appointment') - if I don't want an appointment to
show up in CRM than make it in outlook...
2. I have created a large number of folders/rules to manage my inbound email
(e.g. I am part of a few listservs and receive alot of eMag content - which I
file directly into folders) - Is there a way to either prevent non-critical
email going to crm (WITHOUT the id in the subject header) or re-create the
folder/rule workflow that I have in outlook.
Finally I am just curious how most folks are using this application - if in
office w/in lan use outlook/crm add-in or always web?

'Cannot generate SSPI context' with outlook synch
Folks,
Just kind of digging into this application - I did my first synch with
outlook with crm module installed this morning and it appeared to work fine.
I have two issues:
1. My contacts got duplicated in outlook (when I click contacts tab) - one
has the an icon I am used to seeing and another one I am not - although when
sorted by names it doesn't look like it is completely duplicated - it looks
like one is attached to outlook and the other one has a button for 'Open CRM
Contact Form' for CRM.
So I am not sure how to 'clean this up'
2. When I click the offline button I get the message 'Cannot generate SSPI
context' and seems to hang than it appears that it might actually work -
sometimes I can see other msgboxes flash by - is there a log file - that I
can verify that this is working?

Still having problems with web access.
OK - I can't even get to it locally from the browser on the server. This
worked when I first installed it. I was able to get http://crm, create
users, and assign licenses and roles. Now I can't even get back to that. I
get a page does not exist error. Whe I go into the IIS console and use
browse from the right click menu on default.aspx or loader.aspx I still get a
page not found error. There are no errors in the event log. I tried an iis
reset and that didn't help. I tried restarting all services associated with
exchange, sql, crystal, and crm with no result and no erros recorded to the
event log. I tried rebooting the server. Still no result and no errors in
the event log.
CRM is set up in its own website using port 80 with a host header of crm.
My local domain and all its subdomains are in the trusted sites zone. There
are no pop up blockers, 3rd party toolbars, or 3rd party firewalls. I do not
have SP1 for server 2003 installed since I never could get CRM to install
correctly when it was installed. That means the new windows firewall isn't
installed. I haven't installed any new software or made any other
configuration changes between last night when it worked and this morning when
it stopped working.
If I can't get it working this time I'm going to give up on this package and
I can't honestly reccomend it to my customers. The cost of time and effort
to install and maintain it seems to dramatically outweigh its benefits for a
small business.

Urgent - CRM down due to customization
Hi all,
We made a simple field value change on Sales Stage - from values Suspect,
Prospect, etc. to values 1. Suspect, 2. Prospect, etc. (just putting a number
and period in front of the values). When I went to the server and published
the changes the first time, it died with the XSL error other cases have
mentioned, which indicated the iis service needed to be started. I had done
this already, but when our Sys Admin went in through his view, he said it was
still stopped and he started it. During troubleshooting since then, it's
been consistent that if I do an iisreset, it stops it and says it's
attempting to restart, and then the window goes away - leading us to believe
it's restarted.
Once the iis service was truly restarted (by our Sys Admin), I went into CRM
customization and changed the values back to plain old Suspect, Prospect,
etc. When I went to republish, the progress bar gets father than it did with
the XSL error, but it dies about 3/4 of the way through with a generic error
that doesn't indicate where to chase it down. When I go into the Event
Viewer, there's nothing related to the stuff I'm doing - though I think there
might also be an App event log somewhere that could help?

Uninstalling the CRM Client
In out test environment, I run into a snag with the CRM install on a client.
I need to uninstall the existing CRM install but for the life of me I canâ??t
get it uninstalled. Looks like I needed the original user to uninstall it but
that wasnâ??t possible with the old domain rebuilt.
My option is to reload the OS on the workstation, seems a bit radical. I
would like to find out how to solve this issue without doing this because it
may come up again?
But Iâ??m ready to rebuild the workstation. Do you have any ideas before I do
this?

IE Browser crashes when accessing CRM
When accessing the CRM web site from our server, things work fine.
When I try to access any of the CRM urls from a client in our domain, the IE
browser crashes. Which I find odd. No broken link, it just crashes.

Converting from web form to CRM lead?
Hi, is there a vanilla way to have a web form that populates CRM lead data,
or is this based on each implementation's API skills? I just tried out
SF.com and they make it incredibly easy to add the lead fields to any web
page, and have it go straight into your CRM. I'd like to find out if MS CRM

complete information that was entered into Contacts into Accounts without
having to re-enter address info. etc.? I do have a primary contact set up
in Contacts. I thought that the Contacts information would be automatically
linked to the Accounts, and vice versa.

Browser window closes at logon
I'm connecting to CRM via the public URL. I get a prompt asking for username
and password, when I enter these it thinks for a couple of seconds and then
closes the browser window.
Any ideas?

Login problems webclient
Hi
I have a problem with login with the webclient. If i don't use the webclient
for 10 minutes and i want to use it again. I get the "Cannot find the
webpage....". My laptop is up 2 date and i have no pop-up blockers. But i
saved the password, so there is no way i can login manually. Can someone help
with this problem.

Slugs, dynamic data in template mail etc.

I can put some data filds in email templates for example:
{!lead:firstname;}
{!systemuser:lastname;} or evan realated fields:
{!lead:ownerid/@name;}
but why can NOT do this:
{!lead:ownerid/@firstname;} or {!lead:ownerid/@FirstName;} etc.
on the other hand i can use slugs in workflow just like below:
&lead.firstname; &lead.ownerid; evan &lead.owneridname
but i still can't put the field with the first name of the owner:
&lead.owneridfirstname; doesn't work.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Modifying picklist field value with jscript
Hi,
Anybody used the picklist onchange event to modify another picklist value,
I'm taling about the selected value, not the list of values, I had tried to
write this changing both the value and the return value and although it looks
ok on the form, once it it saved and re-opened it reverts back to the
previous entry, i.e. the value before I changed it..
any ideas anyone?
