    - CRM Sales for Outlook runtime Error We have been using CRM for a while now but just installed the Sales for Outlook. Everything seems to be OK until you try to view a record (any record, account, contact, lead, etc.). When the mouse goes over a record, a runtime error with no information (WHAT A SHOCK) is thrown.     - Support Case and Contract Workflow We are setting up our workflow for support case management. Bascically, I would like the system to automatically check if the contact who submitted the case has a service contract or not. If so, I would like that to be visible in the activity view (probably be setting the service level to gold). Basically, When the case is created, this is what we need: If contact has a priority support contract -set the service level to gold -email the CSR owner to notify them of a new "gold" level support case If an order is associated with the email -set the service level to silver Otherwise just create the case with no actions I can't figure out how determine if the contact related to the case has a service contract.     - cannot change crystal admins password I am trying to upgrade MSCRM from V.1.0 to 1.2 on my development box. One of the first steps is to change the crystal admin's password to blank because Crystal is automatically installed during the CRM Server install. The Implementation Guide's instructions do not work. It says I can leave the New password field as well as the Repeat new password field blank. When i do this, security kicks in and says I need at least 6 characters, etc. I've tried to add double quotes or quotes with a blank space, nothing seems to work.     - Team Security CRM Outlook bug?? I have a probable bug with CRM Security. Scenario: I have created a new role with account access privileges set to user for all actions. I have a few salesfolks who need access to shared accounts, so I created teams for those members and shared the accounts with the team. The users can access the team-shared accounts from the web- client and from the Outlook client (while online).     - CRM 1.2 does not load - was working yesterday - not now. Scenario SBS2003 Premium with CRM 1.2 installed. After falling into all of the various little tests Microsoft put in my path to get an eval system of CRM running, I finally got the CRM system up and running with the SBS 2003 admin as the CRM admin, and four users with roles enabled. Some test data from our ACT (sorry to mention such a lowly product in these august circles!) imported and I was getting ready to play. That was yesterday. Return to the office today and none of the test users can access CRM. We have set it so it accesses from the SBS Sharepoint home page at http://companyweb/default.aspx to a link for CRM we have made http://mscrm. Browsing directly has the same result. IE tries to load the page very slowly, and eventually times out with the following error. Nothing in the event logs at all, and all of the Crystal, SQL, and CRM services that should be running, are. Domain users are enabled for CRM in IIS, SQL and AD. Ducks in a line, I thought (ha!). As far as I can be certain (99%+) nobody else has installed anything or changed any settings, and the server hasn't been re-booted in the interim. Any ideas guys 'n' gals? Request timed out.     - ---Be careful with ACTIVE DIRECTORY during the SBS upgrade!!! --- Hello all, this post is more for you information of my experience w/ the SBS2000-2003 upgrade /w MSCRM v1.2 -----------Be careful with ACTIVE DIRECTORY during the SBS upgrade!!! ---------- Apparently, the SBS2003 upgrade asks which user profiles to bring over in the upgrade. If those users' profiles are relocated to another folder in AD, and you then follow the MSCRM IG to reinstall MSCRM using the existing databases, MSCRM will NOT correctly find the AD user profiles. The result of this is the users will receive an "Access Denied" error when they try to log into CRM. If this occurs, you will have to find the user profiles' new location in AD, and add them to the appropriate groups to give them access. I believe this is somewhat of a temporary fix as MSCRM (using the existing database from before the SBS upgrade) still thinks that the AD profiles are in their old location. My theory: 1.. SBS2000 User Profiles are stored in Active Directory (AD). 2.. MSCRM stores the AD location of the User Profiles somewhere in the CRM Databases. 3.. When SBS2003 was upgraded, the location of the User Profiles was moved from "<server>/Users" to "<server>/<new_folder_path>/SBSUsers". 4.. When MSCRM was reinstalled, it looked in the database to find the AD location of the User Profiles still thinking that the profiles were stored in the old location, "<server>/Users". 5.. Since the AD location of the User Profiles had changed during the upgrade, MSCRM could not find the roles in AD to make the needed changes to the AD MSCRM Roles. Therefore, users received an "Access Denied" error because AD did not show the users having any permissions. 6.. By manually adding the MSCRM Roles and Group to the Users' AD profiles, this has been temporarily fixed. The users must be added to following groups: <top level OrgUnit> Domain Users MSCRM Role - coordinate with the user's role(s) in MSCRM and the Business unit they belong to. This could be because: you are not a Microsoft CRM user, your user record has been disabled in the system, you have not been assigned any security roles, or you have not been assigned a license. Users have licences and can access data on the CRM server from within Outlook CRM Sales client OK. The server is SBS2003, security groups and CRM roles seem to be setup OK. Read up on allowing the Queue configuration in SQL Enterprise. Its a step
many people miss and will cause this. There probably is a message stating
something like synch configuration not allowed on SQL Server and it goes by
real fast. I forget the exact wording. If you reference the online
installation guide walkthru you will probably be good to go.

We are running SQL 2000 Standard, not Enterprise. Could
this be a problem?

I dont think so. Go into your Enterprise Manager, and check that you have
the publication and replication tables you are supposed to have. Im
battling this problem right now myself. We have a few sites where the
offline works fine. We have our own internal test which is CRM/SQL on the
same box that works, but our production which has about 40 db's in it
running CRM gives us all kinds of odd errors.
