    - Data Migration Hello, we want to import different data (accounts, quotes) to the crm. The migration framework from microsoft is as bad as every microsoft tool, plus the documentation is unreadable and there is no word about known issues. I found some ideas here so maby this is right place to find the answer. The data we want to import is not complex so i tried to use DTS in SQL-Server but there are some fields that are not nullable (SecurityDescriptor) . The data is stored in a csv-file (comma-delimited) Is there a possibility to make an import without this migration framework? There is an Importfunction in the CRM but only for contacts and leads. For me importing data automatically is a task to save time and avoid stupid data typing 'the old way'. I have spent now 2 days to find out how this migration framework works.     - Crystal Report Viewer Issues Hello-- Has anyone had a problem running reports in CRM 1.2 that results in an error saying "Information is needed before this report can be processed" whenever a user tries to open a report? I am the only user at the company that can load the reports. We have even tested me and another user on the same PC. I have a feeling that the problem is with the Crystal Report Viewer activex control.     - CRM security role v1.0 Hi, I got some security role issue. I have one root business unit, and there is a sub-business unit called "Sales" under the root business unit. Here is the structure: Root-->Accounting (Sub business unit)--> Sales (Sub business unit under Accounting) I have one user is under Sales business unit, and I gave her "user" level priviledge on create, read, write, delete, append, append to Activity. And I also gave her "organization" level priviledge on Assign and Share on Activity.     - Customising the printed invoices in MS CRM 1.2 - Australian We are implementing MS CRM 1.2 for a small company who really want use the invoice facility within MS CRM - they are really taken with the process of creating a quote, and then rolling this over to become an order and then an invoice. However, when we print the invoice (using the print button) it does not contain any information about the products that were purchased. I believe that having this information is a legal requirement in Australia - it is certainly a common sense requirement. What do we need to do to add this information into the invoice? We would also like to do some other customisations to the invoice eg including a company logo, some default details etc. It would be nice if the printed invoice form/report could be used as the invoice for the cusomer, so removing the requirment to have a real time interface to an accounting package or double entry of the information into another product just to produce the invoice.     - Attach file to notes gives "Server Error" Greetings - I've just found out from some users that whenever they try to attach a file to a notes record they receive the following informative (sarcasm) error message "Server Error". On the CRM server, there are no entries in the event log that correspond to this error. The only piece of information I can find related to the error is in the IIS logs. The following entry shows up anytime someone tries to attach a file: 80 POST /MSCRMServices/noteUpload.srf - 500 Mozilla/4.0+ (compatible;+MSIE+6.0;+Windows+NT+5.0) This of course doesn't do me a whole lot of good. Yes, IIS is returning a status of "500" or "Internal Server Error", but it sure would be nice if CRM logged some detailed information on this error.     - Are there any good tools out there for importing data? I am looking for a tool that will give me the DBA abilities I need to work with MSCRM. I could do some of this with Access, SQL, etc., but they say you can't even update records via other tools (not utilizing the APIs). Some of the basics that I need to do are: 1. Import contacts and link them to existing accounts (on import) 2. Import contacts and accounts together (and link them) 3. Do mass updates based on a query. For example, query all records that have "georgia" as the state and change to "GA". This is just one example of the many DBA activities.     - Migrating users Hi, In my datasource for my migration, there are users linked to records that are no longer in the company. The migration framework guide indicates that to migrate users they must have a domain\username, license, security role. I need to put users into CRM that do not have a license as they are not with the company anymore, but I want to maintain that historical link of those employees to cases they handled while here. Hi, we are not using the Quote/order process in MS CRM because we do not use the product catalog and going through the process to use "write in" products is pretty clunky. I am able to get the User Manager Wizard to open, however, when I try to add a license to a user, the program tells me that I do not have the proper permissions.     - Connect CRM to other databases Hi I'm working on a customization on the 1.2 RTM version. I have created a .NET web application and deployed it into the CRM system. I access my app through the Opportunity object where I've added a link to my custom app in the left menubar on the Opportunity form. My custom app retrieves data from the CRM database but I also need to retrieve data from other databases located on different machines( but within the same domain). Testing my project on my local machine works fine whereas I can successfully retrieve data from CRM and other databases. But when running the custom app from within the CRM system it fails to connect to the nonCRM database: "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection" The database I'm trying to access is configured for windows authentication. Writing out the current user just before accessing the database indicates the correct and fully authorized user. My best guess is that some configuration in the CRM system is causing this behavior because it works fine running the app from a plane browser, but I haven't find any probable parameters. When it trys to install the SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (SP3a) required component it gives me a error message of: "Setup has failed because of an error. Setup was unable to install Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (SP3a). Install it separately and restart setup.exe." I downloaded the SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (SP3a) from the web. in the article, but no go.
