Change the automatic classification ?
Hi,
In CRM, the standard format for the quotes is "XXX-0000-XXXXXX".
But we don't need the suffix. Is it possible to change this auto format, by
exemple giving to the suffix the initials or the name of the user who create
the quote ?
If it's possible i wish to do the same for the orders.

Connecting existing CRM Server and existing SQL Server to new AD
Hi,
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I would like to connect my
existing CRM Server and existing CRM SQL Server to a new domain. There will
be a new AD, exchange etc, basicall everything on this domain will be a fresh
install except for my crm and sql servers. How do i connect these two servers
up to a new AD? All users will be recreated in AD. I have read the CRM
Redeployment tool docs and that might work but the examples there are using
new CRM and SQL servers whereas im using my existing servers. Many thanks

Unable to automatic close Outlook
After installing CRM Outlook client on laptop it isn't possible to close pc.
This funtionality closes all open programs and shut down computer.
After CRM is installed Outlook needs to be closed manual.

Documents i CRM are linked on fx accounts in notes. I have a customer that
need to secure that only documents to which the user has access is shown on
the list.
As I see it this could be done by giving the users only access to own
documents and then use the sharing functionality. But sharing isn't possible
for notes/documents. This would be nice.
Otherwise I think maybe this could be done using a Sharepoint doc. library.
Any suggestions/comments?

The Knowledge Base should allow files to be attached and searched
I want to develop the Knowledge Base in CRM as a place to put things people
in our firm all use in Common. However, I am frustrated that I cannot attach
or copy files into the Knowledge Base especially Power Point files.

Office Word integration
This issue is already mentioned, but as a partner we cannot overemphacise
that a much better Word integration is needed in CRM.
Customers expect this from a MS product and it is unacceptable that 3. party
add ons are needed to perform this "simple" tasks:
- Mailmerge from any form with any form/table fields.
- Mailmerge from any form with related account, contact and user.
- Mailmerge from any client and when offline
- Mailmerge using different templates based on account/contact properties fx
country og language.
- Mailmerge any number of contacts not a 100 limit - this is a BUG!
- Automatic create activity closed activity with generated dokument attached
- Automatic create activity with follow-up if wanted (would be nice if your
could set up a default follow up period on template !?)
This should be a high priority in the CRM team - because this strong
functionality is expected by customers and it is allready possible with
existing/competing products like NAV, AX and SuperOffice.

When we create an appointment in CRM I want to have a workflow rule that
creates a task to call the person the appointment is with 2 days before the
appointment date. No problem using workflow to create a phone call record,

how to modify standard keyboard shortucts?

My problem applies to CRM 3.0 Web interface and is as follows:
We have an English version of the product installed. However, the users in
the Polish office need to be able to use Polish characters.
Windows Polish keyboard that everyone uses allows for typing Polish
characters using the right Alt e.g. Alt-n is Å? or Alt-s is Å?.
The problem is that on the Account screen Alt-s is a shortcut for Save and
therefore the users cannot type Å?.
Is the any way this shortcut can be changed?

Activity "task" not appearing in history of activities
I tried to figure out how the Filtered Views in CRM work. For example in
Contacts I wanted to see the activities of the last 30 days of a certain
contact. What I found out was that one specific activities was not listed
that definately had all date values less than 30 days since it was created.
Only when I switch to "All" then all the activities are showing up in the
history. It doesn't even matter which filter I choose (it can even be the
"Last 6 month) I get the same results.
I went directly to the activitypointerbase table and found out that this
activity didn't have a value in the field "actualend". The test activity
(task) I created which was showing up in the view "Last 30 days" had a value
in actual end. This activity I created myself the other was created by
someone else.
Does anybody know when the field "actualend" is set to a date and when not.
Any help would be much appriciated.

Hello,
is there a way to change the content of mapped fields?
I have got an custom entitie which is mpped with company and offer. If I
creat my entitie from "company" the mapped field (companynumber) is set its
value as it should be, in my costom entitie field "customernumber".
Creating a new record from my custom entitie and select via mapped lookup
field a company the mapped entitie field remains blank.
Also having an other field mapped to an entitie. By changing data in the
source field the mapped field won't change (update) either.
How could the solution look like?

Need to add the functionality to be able to schedule for another user and
trackin CRM.
Scenario:
People call in to the Law office and want to make an appointment with one of
the attorneys. They are speaking to the Attorney's assistant though and she
needs to be able to put this into her boss' calendar. In the demo, when we
attempt to schedule to another users calendar in Outlook, it doesn't appear
to be an option to either Track in CRM or assign the Regarding.

Moved CRM to Hosting provider - Dynamic Excel worksheets can't con
Hello -
We just moved our CRM installation out to a data center. We are able to get
to CRM via a public IP and can even export the dynamic excel worksheet. When
I try to open it I get errors connecting.
If I am connected to the data center via VPN the workbook opens correctly.
What ports or other configuration do I need to have enabled so that VPN is
not necessary to access these dynamic worksheets?

Sales Reports
We just upgraded from v1.2 to v3. I'm trying to run reports on our sales
pipeline. However, v3 doesn't have anywhere near the amount of pre-canned
reports that v1.2 did? We have become heavily dependent on some of those
reports for analyzing our sales cycle and now I don't know what to do. Are
we all expected to be programmers and modify these reports to our liking?
What happened to all of the reports the previous version had? Am I missing

Using the VPC Demo for development
Until we figure out how to actually install the software, is it reasonale to
press ahead with our own development using the VPC Demo image? I know some do
this.
I tried to uninstall and re-install MSCRM to work from a clean slate...that
did not go well.
So the question is... Can I work from the demo MSCRM for development
purposes? Just manually delete the data, and customize from there? The One BU
can be disabled, and others created. Can I also clear out the users (or at
least disable them).
From this then, could I press ahead with development?... and export my
customizations to a new system, once we figure out how to do an installation
that works?
I know that BUs and Security roles will not export out, and will need to be
set up again on the production system. Will this create any issue in my
development? Will the disabled BUs and demo users also export out..into the
new system?
I hear some say that you can do this, but the destination server must have
the exact same setup....what is meant by this?... Actual Server names being
the same?
Sorry for my cluelessness, but I have no background in Server technologies,
SQL, or XML, and a trying to learn it all from scratch, with a 3 month window
to learn it all and do a basic implementation with over a dozen imports. I do
have a background in other CRM technologies and methodologies, but typically
just had to learn the application to arrive at a sufficient skill set to do a

CRM Outlook Laptop Install FAILURE
I am installing Microsoft CRM 3.0 Outlook Client for laptop. Everything
checks out however at one of the steps that it goes to verify I get this
error:
"Microsoft CRM Client for Outlook Setup User Input File or assembly name
$fn$, or one of it's dependencies was not found. "
Help Claims it can't connect to CRM. --->Which is incorrect because I can
ping it and get to it from a browser.
Anyways, where I have $fn$ is a filename that is a dll. It gives me a
different filename each time I put in the CD. Which is odd. The first
filename it gave me was "dzt419f2.dll". I have the .msi logs if anyone wants
them. Please help. I don't think it's fair that it would be "impossible" to
put our new product on a laptop. So far, it sure appears that way. Thank you.

when i create a task in CRM and synch my desktop client, the task is listed
in outlook. Well, but there is no reminder for that kind of tasks! We have

Laptop Client not able to work with CRM 3.0 in Offline Mode
Hello,
One of our clients is using the Laptop install of CRM 3.0. She can connect
to the CRM server via Outlook just fine when she is connected to the company
network via a VPN. But when she tries to access the CRM data while in an
offline state, she gets the following error:
Authentication Error
Microsoft CRM could not log you on to the system. Make sure your user record
is enabled and that you have been assigned at least one security role. For
more information, contact your system administrator.
Has anyone come across this before and figured out a solution?

Crystal Report Question for CRM 1.2
Unfortunately I am still on CRM 1.2
I am having a problem with a Crystal Report that shows Open Date, Resolved
Date, Cse and Days the cases was Opened.
However, I am getting results for each activity for each case. I want the
final end of the case but am having problems finding which field that is.

Trip or Travel Report
Our company is new to CRM. We have had one training session by our
installer. I asked the company representative who installed our system "How
can our salesmen create a trip report using the information they are
generating in CRM". I still have not heard back. That was three months ago.
Here is my problem. Our representatives are going out into the field
writing notes and information into accounts and contacts concerning the
customer. At the end of each week the owner would like a report on their
activities. Currently the saleperson is having to type a Word Document
describing their week of activities.
Since I am the person who approved the purchase of CRM, I thought CRM could
do this with some customization from what I read and was told. I am not
feeling that way at this moment in time. I know I do not like typing
information twice - so I am looking for a magic button approach "the
salesperson pushes the button" and CRM generates a report based on the notes
they entered for the week in a report form. I am feeling responsible for
their pain - This report is given to the owner so he can read what his
salespeople are doing during the week. Information such as who they met
with, what was said, any opportunities, etc.. would be in the report.

CRM and it's impact/integration with CRM
Hello,
We're considering deploying CRM however I have some concerns about what
impact it has on AD and I'm not a bit of a loss to find any information
to clear up my concern.
Primarily, I need to explain why CRM needs an OU - what it does with
it, what it stores in it etc - as I need to justify the creation of the
OU CRM asks for in the AD.
Does it alter/impact on the AD outside of this OU?
Any other implications? Essentially, I need to convince the AD chaps
that installing CRM and allowing it to use the AD isn't going to cause
the world to end.

Access Grid Information
Does anyone know how to access grid information?
For example, I needed the ability to create a new Service Ticket of a Grid.
I was successful. My code is below. But, I think there may be more
effecient means of accessing this information. Perhaps Microsoft made a
function that allows me to return grid information by column title. Any one

Imported Leads Conversion to Opp.
Hi!
I am trying to do a Bulk Import of Leads from a csv file and convert
some of them into opportunity. I am getting an Error " Sales Force
Automation Error - You cannot qualify a lead which is already closed ".
But when iam creating a new lead inside CRM and convert into an opportunity,

Problems in viewing Report
Hi we have installed the SQL and CRM in 2 different servers, running on win
2003. I face a problem when viewing reports as it keeps popping up dialog box
for username and password which when not given gives a "page cannot be
displayed" error. can anybody let me know why the logon request for report
section is prompted. I tried to fiddle around with report section datasource,
by selecting various options and it works only when a AD user is given in the

ReportServer Problem (404 and File not found error) - Solution
During some recent changes to our servers I found that the ReportServer
functionality stopped working so that when I selected Reports within the CRM
system an error message was displayed asking me to contact the System
Administrator. In addition to this when I browsed to the virtual directory
housing the site I got a 'Page cannot be displayed' message. This also seemed
to affect the ability of the CRM system to display the System Settings page
as it displayed an error message again.
So after a little bit of investigation I have narrowed down the problem to
the fact that SharePoint had been installed on the same server as the
ReportServer AND there is a ReportServer bug.
To solve the problem I found the following articles;

How come the Created by column in the History entity in the Contact
form are assigned with SYSTEM and not the actual user who created the
activity in the first place? How do I change this? I am mainly working
Outlook and use the track in CRM functionality.

Any ssues Installing SQL 2005 Service pack 1 on CRM Server
We have CRM Server 3.0 with SQL 2005 Server running at one of the client
place. We want to apply SQL 2005 Service pack 1 on Server where CRM database
is sitting.
MS Support team, recently advised one guy in our team against installing SQL
Service pack 1. Installing would have issues with the CRM server and would
stop the CRM server from operating properly. MS team did not go into specific
details as to what the issues were or any details of the types of issues it
would cause, they just strongly advised against applying SP1.
I would like to know does anyone had applied SP1 on Server. Any issues? I
could not find specfic in MS Site.
I would appreiate if I can have reference links to verify that as well.

Automatically convert a Phone Call into Opportunity ?
I have a Phone Call Campaign Activity distributed to a Contact, I have added
a customized field (Accept/Unaccept) in the Phone Call. The normal crm
operation flow is that the users choose "accepted" in the picklist and then
save the Phone Call, after that they need to convert the phone call into
Opportunity.
However, the user want to bypass the 'step' to click the "Convert to
Opportunity" button. What the users required is that when they SAVE the
phone call whenever the picklist value is ACCEPT. The system will
automatically convert the phone call into opportunity. Moreover, a Service
Activity also need to be created in that Opportunity.

trouble importing customizations onto a the Demo version of Virtua
I have fully customized a client installation of CRM 3.0 including custom
entities. I am trying in import these customizations onto a Virtual PC 2004
running the CRM 3.0 Demo image from May 2006. I have not touched this
virtual image. It is the demo system with no changes. Iâ??m getting an error
that my mappings are not right.
The message reminds me of the Mapping restrictions
1. The source and target attributes must be the same type.
2. The source attribute length must be < or equal to the length of the
target attribute.
3. The target attribute must not have a mapping relationship with other
mappings.
This 3rd restriction has me doubting things. For example, all
implementations Iâ??ve seen have the following mapping:
Lead.address1_city to contact.address1_city
And
Account.address1_city to contact.address1_city.
This violates rule #3 yet it is an out-of-the box mapping.
So my dilemma â?? How do I import my customizations when Iâ??ve been through all
mappings and rules 1 and 2 seem to be preserved?
I tried to import just the three entities Account, Lead, and Contact but it
also errored saying my mappings were not correct. Should I delete the
mappings on the target (Virtual PC) machine before importing? How do you

Install issues
Did a first install, but 'step 11' did not warn to write down the URL to
attempt to bring up CRM. Where in the installation can I find the
URL?????? This is not SBS so localhost:5555 does not help.
I don't think we had any users set up in the DC when CRM was installed onto
some test servers. There is an OU setup. Can this be an issue? Is there a
default admin logon anyway?
When attempting to run registration, I get: SQL Server does not exist or
access denied.
by the way, will running registration on a test server create issue for us
when using the same license for production?
When attempting to run the Deploymet Manager, I get the error that
(MSSQL$CRM) is not running. I don't even see it listed in services.
Environment. Virtual Server running both SQL and MSCRM... seperate Virtual
Servers for Exchange and DC.
