Look Up Type + Assign Entity
Hi,
I start to use CRM 2 weeks ago and i have real problem and two questions.
1. We are working with distributors and i would like to create under account
andother filed "Distributor Primary Contact" (except of the one that exist
"Primary Contact").
2. I created a new entity and i would liek to be able to assign it, how can
i add the assign to the entity?
Any suggestion how can i do that?

Non Sales use of CRM 3.0 - such as vendors
Does anyone know if there is an Add-on to enable us to include non sales or
services actvities in CRM 3.0?
For example, many CRM customers need to record details of purchase enquiries
and later raise purchase orders. Rather than have a CRM system that holds
just sales and service information they would like to have a one stop
solution to hold other information as well.
Other CRM systems provide a general ACTION type table which can hold many
different types of activities such as purchase enquiries, purchase
quotations, Purchases orders, Seminar attendence etc.
Obviously they could just add each of these as an activity attached to a
given account but this is not really satisfactory as later they might not
remember which account (vendor) they purchased a given item from.
If they have an ACTION table they can quickly focus in on all purchase
enquiries straight away.
If there is no such Add-on and you agree with us that there is such a

Error When Going Offline
Hi,
We just reimplemented CRM in new server by taking the data from the old one.
Some clients who used SFO unable to go offline. When offline toolbar was
click and initializing started, then there was an error "cannot generate sspi
text" and "metadata cache error - no entity"
Does anyone know how to solve this issue??

Ability to attach Outlook email items to an Activity
The Attachment functionality allows attaching any browseable artificate in
the system, i.e. documents, presentations, etc. Emails in their native form
are not a tangible, browseable artifact and consequently cannot be attached.
Emails can be imported into the Application as Activities with Email content
stored in text fields. The requirement is to be able to browse through the
email items (similar to attaching items alongwith a mail in Microsoft
Outlook) and attach them. Can you please suggest any way in which this can

Mandatory linking to Parent when Outlook contact is tracked in CRM
When a new contact is made in the Outlook client, two additional functions
â??Track in CRMâ?? button and â??Parentâ?? look-up button are available. Pressing

new contact gets linked to the account and is visible in the account contacts
list. However, if the parent account is not selected, then the contact
remains â??orphanedâ??, which violates a mandatory requirement for us. Is there

Errors when saving under CRM 3.0 within Outlook
I am getting errors while trying to save any type of record in Leads and
Activities.
The error message gives me the option of Retry or Cancel. 25% of the time
Retry works. More often - I am forced to Cancel and I loose the information
in the Lead or Activity that I am trying to save.
Config - Outlook 2003, CRM 3.0 running on IBM notebook with Windows XP and
latest Service Packs.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions?

Report with notes in crm 3.0
I'm trying to create a report for my customized version of Account, and
I can't figure out how to add the notes field into the report. It
doesn't seem to be in the Account view in the sql(2005) db.

Looking for recommended procedure...
I have a customer with a 1.2 environment that wants to move to 3.0
The 1.2 environment is in a child domain (native, obviously) and they want
to move to the parent domain and eliminate that child domain. The parent
domain is not native, so a reinstall of 1.2 isnt an option to upgrade.
I need to keep the data, any customizations can go away\be recreated.
Secondly, in trying to upgrade the 1.2 install in the child domain, the
upgrade failed with an error complaining about a 'NAME' field or table. I
tried the upgrade wizard and got no complaints, but bombed part way thru the
real deal.
I have a copy of the backup files for the MSCRM and metabase databases here,
so I'd like to play with as much as possible, so I'd love to hear some ideas.

Authentication Error. CRM could not log you on to the system.
Hi. I'm having a problem with a new CRM 3.0 installation. The
configuration is as follows: CRM, SQL 2000 sp4 & Active Directory are
all on separate machines running Windows Server 2003 sp1.
The error I'm getting when I attempt to browse to the CRM website is:
Authentication Error
Microsoft CRM could not log you on to the system. Make sure your user
record is enabled and that you have been assigned at least one security
role. For more information, contact your system administrator.
After opening Deployment Manager the following error appears:
The server http://crmserver:5555/MSCRMServices/ is not responding. This
might happen if it is currently unavailable, it is not a Microsoft CRM
server, or you do not have sufficient privileges to run User Manager.
For more information contact your system administrator.
I am logged in as the user I used to install CRM. This is a Domain
Admin account.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Mapping a New Contact from an Account
Version1.02 query (while we impatiently await 3.0)
I've successfully mapped 99% of the fields I need from an Account to a new
Contact of that Account. The one thing I am missing is filling the Parent
Account field in the Contact. I succeeded in doing it once, but could not
save with a Platform Error..
Since rebuilding, everything works and saves....but Parent Account still
lays empty.
Since our VAR did absolutely no mapping for us 6 months ago, I like to have
this done this year.
Any suggestions?

I have a web service that I have developed. The web service interacts
with CRM 3.0, creating and updating opportunities from an exteranl
application. The service works great on my development machine. I can
even call it from an external machine, and it works just fine.
However, when I deploy it to my production server, I get the following
error:

dependencies, was not found.
What am I doing wrong in the deployment? I never had any deployment
issues with CRM 1.2. Have I not included something?

Error exporting to excel CRM 3.0
when i try to export any data to excel worksheet on a computer with Server
2003 and Office XP, excel opens but just after that i get erorr that
specified file cannot be opened, on any other it works fine, could it be
because of Office XP? does Server 2003 requires Office 2003 to work properly

Error importing customizations
After succesfully redeploying databases on a different server I installed
Microsoft 1.2. When I import the customizations I get the message:
Import completed with errors, please see event log for details.
In the event viewer I get the following message:
Schema Editor failed to add the following attributes :
CFPaddress1_country,CFPaddress1_region, (etc.)
But in my tables and forms I can see all the fields that were created. What
can I do to prevent the import customization error?

Activities and reminders
It would be nice to be able to set reminders for Appointments and other
Activities in CRM. Preferrable a user should get a Screenpop (also in the web
client) at the remindertime. This suggestion also implies that the
synchronisation of reminder information (from Appointments made in OutLook)
would be a valuable extra.

Combining CRM Deployments
We are collapsing a Windows 2000 Active Directory forest into a Windows
2003 AD forest as part of a corporate takeover.
There is a CRM installation in both organizations. Can 2 separate CRM
instances coexist in a single AD Forest?

SFO: What's the auth differences btw the Online and Offline Instal
Why would online installs of SFO connect and function properly without
problems but installs using the offline install fail to connect to the CRM
server on the same network? I ask because on machines with the offline
installs, we get the famous message "There is a problem communicating with
the CRM server, please contact your system administrator." The CRM server is
running w/o events or issues. So what is the offline Outlook doing

Importing CRM V3 - Invalid Argument
Trying to import accounts in to V3
I tried about 20 sample records and it worked fine.
I then added categories and industry to the main CRM app to include all the
items in my data.
I ran the import, it goes to where I match up the items, then as soon as I
click import I get "Invalid Argument" dialog box. Nothing else happens and
that's it?

CRM and SharePoint
How should I install SharePoint Services in a Win 2003 STD with CRM already
installed and running?
I tried to do so with the default options of SharePoint but all I got was
lost access to the CRM because of the configuration of IIS that SharePoint
does.

401 when accessing specific parts
When click ing certain areas of crm 3.0 we are getting 401 unauthorized error
in
home_reports.aspx
systemsettings.aspx
the user account has full privledges in all rolls on crm, the server is 2k3
with sharepoint portal 2k3 installed.
Any ideas? I can offer the debug informatin if it is needed.

Changing Username in AD will it effect CRM web site access
If I change a username will it effect access to MSCRM? Though not the same
issue we ran into a problem last year when a user account was deleted from
AD, and after re-creating the account it messed everything up to where I
could not unassign the CRM license in CRM to the AD account that no longer
existed and the new one would not login to CRM. I'm assuming MS thought about
name changes when folks get married so I would assume that this should be a

CRM 1.2 to 3.0 Upgrade
Hello Everyone,
I'm currently using CRM 1.2 on SQL 200 and 2003 Server and I have been
testing the the 3.0 upgrade on a seperate SQL 2000 server also running
2003 server standard in the same domain
I'm able to move the the current 1.2 install and databases over to the
test server using the backup and recovery procedure as described by
Microsoft, and everthing works as it should on the test server and the
production server as it should.
When performing the upgrade to 3.0 on the test server everything checks
out "green" during the pre-install checks.
Then during the install it stops with the following Error message
"Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Server.AddLicenseAction failed
Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040216"
After that it will not go any further in the install.

MSCRMAddressBook Error
I've Installed Microsoft CRM 3.0 and the Outlook tools and everything worked
fine for about two days. Now I'm getting the following error when I startup
Windows and of course CRM for outlook never loads.

Error on Login
Fresh install of CRM 3.0 on SBS 2K3 box. Tons of Ram (1gig free). I can
login as the system administrator, but can't login as any other user. I have
enabled the other users, but I get an error each time I login. The only
thing it says is: ERROR. An Error has occoured. Contact your systems
administrator for more information..... then I have a Try Again or Close
button. If I hit try again, it does the same thing.
Now, if I'm trying to login from the CRM server.... I don't even get that
far with the any account. I just get the login window three or four times
and then an Unauthorized page from IE. When I try to run any of the snap in
tools, it tells me that the CRM server is not running.
Any ideas??

CRM laptop clinet
I am unable to go online after installing the laptop client. I could
synchronise all the files offline and when I wanted to go online again, I get
a message " Microsoft CRM cannot go online. The CRM server was not found"
But there is no problem with the server. I can access CRM through the web. I
would be happy if someone can give a solution to my problem

Task Create - Status - Workflow 3.0
I'm trying to make a simple task, when a user owner is assigned a task in
CRM, it receives an email letting it know it has one. I have the following
below, but it is not generating one when i assign one manually in the CRM.
What to do?
I've tried both the following:
When task is created
E-Mail to:[owner];Subject test
As well as:
When task is created
if
Task activity status = Open
then
E-Mail to:[owner];Subject test
I've checked the mailserver many times over, and I can send emails manually
from the CRM so you can rule that out Tag: CRM 3 Tag: 48927
Filter contact records by customer type code in views
In version 1.2 I had set up several views of contact records by customer
type code. In 3.0 this field cannot be selected as filtering criteria. While
the views I had set up in 1.2 work, that cannot be changed.
Is there a reason this field is no longer avialable under 3.0? This field
is listed attribute. Is there a way to may it appear?

Databases are not compatible when reinstalling
I had to reinstall CRM 3.0 in order to get license key changed.
When I choose connect to existing databasese, i end up with error: databases
are not compatible with this installation.
What is changed is installation media, I now use media that came with
monthly package and allso a new license key. Everythin else should be the
same.
We have imported a lots of information allready and wish not to do in again.
Any ideas how to get those databases up and running?

Deployment manager problem
Hi.
I have CRM 1.2 on Win2k3 SP1. And I can't import, export or publish
customizations!
For example, I'm trying to import customizations from xml file. From
Deployment manager I click "Import customizations", then I select xml file
and CRM says that "No errors fount etc." I click "Next", then "Add". Window
"Locate IIS Web Servers" appears and hangs. Thatâ??s it! Now I can only drop
the mmc process.
The same happens when Iâ??m trying to publish customizations.

I hve done customization on opportunity and lead entity with almost 35
custom fields .
when i try to move this customization from this server to another ms
crm server with plain installation it gives an error " A sql server
error occured .please contact system admin."

mapping between two lookup fields
Can we map the values of two lookup fields between two entities? For example
mapping the data from lookup field â??primary contactâ?? [ contact entity] to
lookup field â??account managerâ?? [ account entity]. So that i can view the
value of primary contact in account manager.
