The much-awaited version is scheduled to be released to manufacturing in the
fourth quarter with general availability in the first quarter of next year.
Partners will get access to the new version in August, with a customer beta
due to ship in September.

Not much, but I did notice that Microsoft has created plans for certain types
of CRM disasters.

According to my cardiolgist this is a good thing. \:>

There is suppossed to be a "partner" beta that begins in a few weeks. I
thought I heard that there were no longer plans for a "customer" beta, but I
am not positive.

I thought the partner beta started a month or so ago... at least I know some
partners that have been participating in a beta - but they didn't tell me
anything they weren't supposed to :)

The current Beta is a closed Beta, not a public one. The one that starts in
the near future will be open to all certified CRM Partners.

It will be pretty disappointing to find out there will be no cusomer beta. I
don't understand why Microsoft would have talked about this at TechEd if they
weren't going to follow through... If I hadn't recommended waiting for the
next release I guess it wouldn't be so bad. We have been putting off any
development efforts with 1.2 because of all the changes that are in 3.0 - and
since most of the new features are things we need, I don't want to reinvent
the wheel by implementing similar features with custom code...

If Microsoft has put off the customer beta, maybe I can't depend upon the
year end release to customers either, and I can't start planning our
implementation until we see the new features and how they will work...

Thanks Matt, for letting me know what you can. I wish someone who knows for
sure what's happening would just tell eveyone instead of making people try to
guess what will happen. It's just been a long time and I'm sure everyone is
a bit frustrated - I've been waiting since January for 3.0.

Good things come to those who wait ;) Of course in all seriousness it would
be better if the world of software development would focus on WHAT currently
exists as opposed to sharing their internal excitement over what they are
working on in any given day..

PS Our other choice is to use managed services software which is simply
updated on a daily basis because the software nad the server and the
developers all live in the same house.

Ever since I was a child, I thrived on the bleeding edge! Now I'm thriving
on the chaos of the software development world... well, I guess thriving may
be a bit of an exageration:)

Life isn't always fun, but it's always exciting! I'll try to be patient.
