CRM Sales for Outlook 1.2 connection problem.
I successfully installed CRM Sales for Outlook 1.2 on my laptop with Office 2003. I can connect to the database and see the contact and lead names in the Outlook browser window but when I try to open up a record, I receive an error stating "An error has occurred. For more information, contact your system administrator." The Event Viewer has the following application error

I also cannot "Go Offline" in Outlook and receive an error message stating: "CRM Sales for Outlook cannot go offline. The logged on user does not have sufficient privileges, or the Microsoft CRM server was not found." I am a domain admin with admin privileges on the local machine so I don't think it's a security issue. I can also connect to the CRM server using IE without any trouble from the same laptop computer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled three times. I'm stumped! Any ideas? Thanks! Tag: SQL Tag: 10471

CRM site won't 'start' after install
Hi,
I've installed MS CRM Server 1.2 on a machine running Windows Server 2003,
with IIS (MSMQ, DTC etc.), MS SQL Server 2000 SP3 and all other
pre-requisites. The installation program runs through as it should an I get
a message saying CRM Server was successfully installed.
However, when I browse to http://localhost or http://machine_name I get an
HTTP 403 error saying 'You are not authorized to view this page'.
I have followed the instructions in the Implementation Guide, and the next
step for me would be to install the CRM e-mail router on the Exchange
server. When I try this and point the installation program to the CRM
machine I'm told the server is not a CRM server.
I have not completed the steps regarding configuring users and queues and
have not added users to MS CRM, as these steps according to the
Implementation Guide come AFTER installing the e-mail router.
On the CRM Server machine I had Windows SharePoint Services and SharePoint
Portal Server installed before installing MS CRM. The SharePoint sites still
work properly.
I have rebooted and checked that all application pools, web sites and
services are running.
What can possibly be wrong? Any help highly appreciated!

How to solve money problems
GREAT WAY TO MAKE MONEY-READ THIS!!!!!!

HOW TO TURN $6 INTO $6,000!!!!!!
READING THIS COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try=20
it. A little
while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, just=20
like you are now,
and came across an article similar to this that said=20
you could make
thousands of dollars within weeks with only an=20
initial investment of
$6.00! So I thought, Yeah right, this must be a=20
scam,but
like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading.=20
Anyway, it said
that you send US$1.00(if outside USA change to US=20
currency) to each
of the 6 names and address stated in the article
(below).
You then place your own name and address in the=20
bottom of
the list at #6, and post the article in at least 200=20
newsgroups.
(There are thousands) No catch, that was it. So=20
after thinking it
over, and talking to a few people first, I thought=20
about trying it. I
figured: what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and=20
$6.00,
right? Then I invested the measly $6.00. Well GUESS=20
WHAT!!...
within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail!=20
I was shocked! I
figured it would end soon, but the money just kept=20
coming in. In my
first week, I made about $25.00. By the end of the=20
second week I had
made a total of over $1,000.00! In the third week I=20
had over
$10,000.00 and it's still growing. This is now my=20
fourth week and I
have made a total of just over $42,000.00 and it's=20
still coming in
rapidly. It's certainly worth $6.00, and 6 stamps, I=20
have spent more
than that on the lottery!! Let me tell you how this=20
works and most
importantly, why it works....Also, make sure you=20
print a copy of this
article NOW, so you can get the information off of=20
it as you need it.
I promise you that if you follow the directions=20
exactly, that you
will start making more money than you thought=20
possible by doing
something so easy!
Suggestion: Read this entire message carefully!=20
(print it out or
download it.) Follow the simple directions and watch=20
the money come in!
It's easy. It's legal. And, your investment is only=20
$6.00 (Plus postage)
IMPORTANT: This is not a rip-off; it is not=20
indecent; it is not
illegal; and it is virtually no risk - it really=20
works!!!!
If all of the following instructions are adhered to,=20
you will receive
extraordinary dividends.
PLEASE NOTE:
Please follow these directions EXACTLY, and $50,000=20
or more can be
yours in 20 to 60 days. This program remains=20
successful because of
the honesty and integrity of the participants.=20
Please continue its
success by carefully adhering to the instructions.
You will now become part of the Mail Order business.=20
In this business
your product is not solid and tangible, it's a=20
service. You are in
the business of developing Mailing Lists. Many large=20
corporations are
happy to pay big bucks for quality lists. However,=20
the money made
from the mailing lists is secondary to the income=20
which is made from
people like you and me asking to be included in that=20
list.
Here are the 4 easy steps to success:
STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the=20
following on=20
each piece of paper;PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING=20
LIST. Now
get 6 US $1.00 bills and place ONE inside EACH of=20
the 6 pieces of
paper so the bill will not be seen through the=20
envelope (to prevent
thievery). Next, place one paper in each of the 6=20
envelopes and seal
them. You should now have 6 sealed envelopes, each=20
with a piece of
paper stating the above phrase, your name and=20
address, and a $1.00
bill. What you are doing is creating a service. THIS=20
IS ABSOLUTELY
LEGAL! You are requesting a legitimate service and=20
you are paying for
it! Like most of us I was a little skeptical and a=20
little worried
about the legal aspects of it all. So I checked it=20
out with the U.S.
Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that=20
it is indeed
legal! Mail the 6 envelopes to the following=20
addresses:
#1) Jeff Millan
1113 N. 19 =BD
McAllen,TX 78501
#2) R. Overton
P.O. Box 18818
So. Lake Tahoe, CA 96151
#3) KEVIN LEE
8377 APT. I MONTGOMERY RUN RD.
ELLICOTT CITY MD 21043
#4) Dion Davis
3 Brouder Pl
Manurewa, Auckland 1008
New Zealand=20
#5) Matt Madracki
P.O. Box 1529
Sutton West, Ontario
L0E 1R0
#6) Meka Tokarta
102 Wharf Rd
Te Atatu, Auckland 1008
New Zealand 1008
STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you=20
see above, move
the other names up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4,=20
etc...) and add YOUR
Name as number 6 on the list.
STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to keep=20
this article as
close to original as possible. Now, post your=20
amended article to at
least 200 newsgroups. (I think there are close to=20
24,000 groups) All
you need is 200, but remember, the more you post,=20
the more money you make!
This is perfectly legal! If you have any doubts,=20
refer to Title 18
Sec. 1302 & 1341 of the Postal lottery laws.
Keep a copy of these steps for yourself and,=20
whenever you need money,
you can use it again, and again.
PLEASE REMEMBER that this program remains successful=20
because of the
honesty and integrity of the participants and by=20
their carefully
adhering to the directions. Look at it this way. If=20
you are of
integrity, the program will continue and the money=20
that so many
others have received will come your way.
NOTE: You may want to retain every name and address=20
sent to you,
either on a computer or hard copy and keep the notes=20
people send you.
This VERIFIES that you are truly providing a=20
service. (Also, it might
be a good idea to wrap the $1 bill in dark paper to=20
reduce the risk of mail theft.)
So, as each post is downloaded and the directions=20
carefully followed,
six members will be reimbursed for their=20
participation as a List
Developer with one dollar each. Your name will move=20
up the list
geometrically so that when your name reaches the #1=20
position you will
be receiving thousands of dollars in CASH!!! What an=20
opportunity for
only $6.00 ($1.00 for each of the first six people=20
listed above) Send
it now, add your own name to the list and you're in=20
business!
---DIRECTIONS ----- FOR HOW TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS----
--------
Step 1) You do not need to re-type this entire=20
letter to do your own
posting. Simply put your cursor at the beginning of=20
this letter and
drag your cursor to the bottom of this document, and=20
select 'copy'
from the edit menu. This will copy the entire letter=20
into the
computer's memory.
Step 2) Open a blank 'notepad' file and place your=20
cursor at the top
of the blank page. From the 'edit' menu=20
select 'paste'. This will
paste a copy of the letter into notepad so that you=20
can add your name
to the list.=20
Step 3) Save your new notepad file as a .txt file. If
you want to do your postings in different settings,=20
you'll always
have this file to go back to.
Step 4) Use Netscape or Internet explorer and try=20
searching for
various newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards,=20
chat sites,
discussions.)
Step 5) Visit these message boards and post this=20
article as a new
message by highlighting the text of this letter and=20
selecting paste
from the edit menu. Fill in the Subject, this will=20
be the header that
everyone sees as they scroll through the list of=20
postings in a
particular group, click the post message button.=20
You're done with
your first one! Congratulations...THAT'S IT! All you=20
have to do is
jump to different newsgroups and post away, after=20
you get the hang of
it, it will take about 30 seconds for each=20
newsgroup!=20
**REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE=20
MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!! BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A
MINIMUM OF 200**=20
That's it! You will begin receiving money from=20
around the world within days! You may eventually want to=20
rent a P.O.Box due to the large amount of mail you
will receive. If
you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a name to=20
use, as long as
the postman will deliver it.=20
**JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT.**
Now the WHY part:
Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (a=20
very low example). So then I made $5.00 with my name at #6=20
on the letter. Now, each of the 5 persons
who just sent me $1.00 make the MINIMUM 200
postings, each with my name at #5 and only 5 persons=20
respond to each
of the original 5, that is another $25.00 for me,=20
now those 25 each
make 200 MINIMUM posts with my name at #4 and only 5=20
replies each, I
will bring in an additional $125.00! Now, those 125=20
persons turn
around and post the MINIMUM 200 with my name at #3=20
and only receive 5
replies each, I will make an additional $626.00! OK,=20
now here is the
fun part, each of those 625 persons post a MINIMUM=20
200 letters with
my name at #2 and they each only receive 5 replies,=20
that just made me
$3,125.00!!! Those 3,125 persons will all deliver=20
this message to 200
newsgroups with my name at #1 and if still 5 persons=20
per 200
newsgroups react I will receive $15,625,00! With an=20
original
investment of only $6.00! AMAZING! When your name is=20
no longer on the
list, you just take the latest posting in the=20
newsgroups, and send=20
out another $6.00 to names on the list, putting your=20
name at number 6
again. And start posting again. The thing to=20
remember is: do you
realize that thousands of people all over the world=20
are joining the
internet and reading these articles everyday?, JUST=20
LIKE YOU are
now!! So, can you afford $6.00 and see if it really=20
works?? I think
so... People have said, "e;what if the plan is=20
played out and no
one sends you the money? So what! What are the=20
chances of that
happening when there are tons of new honest users=20
and new honest
people who are joining the internet and newsgroups=20
everyday and are
willing to give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000 to=20
50,000 new
users, every day, with thousands of those joining=20
the actual
internet.=20
Remember: play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will=20
really
work. Tag: SQL Tag: 10464

Cannot create users
I just recently installed SBS2003. I have had CRM since
the end of novemeber and was going to install it on this
new server once it was built. Everything installed fine
until I went to create a user. I am logged on as
administrator and I try to access the site to create
user. I get am error trying to open the site in order to
add a license to the user. I cant even go trough the
deployment manager to add a user because it tells me I do
not have sufficient privileges.
Has anybody run into this problem and had found a work
around?
Just for technical purposes I am running SBS2003 on a
clean install and CRM 1.0.
I do realize that CRM 1.0 is not meant for 2003 and that
1.2 should correct any errors. But i dont think I will be
receiving my copy of 1.2 until February. Does anyone have
any suggestions? Tag: SQL Tag: 10458
CRM and Outlook Integration
Hello All
We've recently installed CRM 1.2 and the first thing that
struck me was that scheduling an appointment in CRM did
not place the appoitment in my Outlook calendar?
Is this what the Outlook CRM Client does or have we setup
CRM incorrectly?
I would have expected CRM to use the same calendar as
Outlook? Tag: SQL Tag: 10457

MSCRM heavy on log files?
Hi:
I heard that MSCRM needs a lot of disk space due to log files that are
generated.
ARe these the sql log files or the windows system log files?
What's the best place (disk) to put these for optimum performance?
Thanks,

Notes view
I would like to have the ability to change how notes appear in a case. For example, instead of only seeing the title of the note, I would like to add by who, and the date so they both appear when viewing notes history. Does CRM allow you to do this. I haven't found where it does. Thanks Tag: SQL Tag: 10439

Problem since upgrading to CRM 1.2
Ever since we upgrade to CRM 1.2 we can no longer create new leads,
contacts, accounts, etc. When you try it opens the new window to add in but
nothing appears except a message saying that an Error has occured and either
Try Again or Close. We can create new activities however.
We have checked the event logs on the CRM server and nothing shows up. Does
anyone have any ideas?

Exchange 2000 and Domain Controller requirements
Hi:
How come the hardware requirements for Exchange 2000 and the Domain
controller
are so much higher when they're being used for MSCRM? I checked the
Exchange
2000 and Windows 2000 requirements from Microsoft, and they're very low.
If Exchange 2000 gets its own server and the domain controller gets its
own controller,
I'm really confused on the pumped up requirements.
Anybody not follow the Microsoft recommended ones?

Unix DNS, Active Directory, and MSCRM
Hi,
If we are a Unix DNS shop and also run AD and Exchange, will that pose any
problems for MSCRM?
I know that MSCRM is heavily depenent on AD (which is dependent on DNS).
I've only dealt w/ Windows DNS, so I'm not sure how that changes the AD.

Perform a calculation????
I'm curious if anybody knows how I can do a calculation on two fields

Outlook Client on CRM 1.2 Server Box for Demos
Hi,
Did a CRM 1.2 install on Windows 2003 Server and all is working well.
I have been seeing things on this newsgroup that say I should be able to
install the Outlook client as well on this machine although it is an
unsupported configuration.
This is for demo's only. I am running it under Virtual PC. I would like
to not have to have 2 Virtual PC images running just to show the Outlook
integration to CRM.
When I try to install the Outlook client I get a message at the start saying
that the Outlook client is already installed. It is not.
Suggestions anyone?

Export the quote date to a Word document.
Hi.
After composing a Quote, users wants to "export" the data in a Ms Word
document, merging the quote data with the company pre-formated Quotes Form.
In the word document users wants data form the quote record (ie the Customer
Address) and data form the quote/product record (ie quote item, quantity and
price).
What is the correct path to offer this (common required) function ?
I am looking for a "stupit user friendly" solution, please don't answer "go
to report --> quote -> Apply a filter based on the quote name" or so on.
Please don't answer <you must install CRM form Outlook only to use the
"merge function" because there are no other way to do this>
Thanks

View names
Is it possible to give the same name to two different views when the views
are for different entities? For instance, name a view for Leads "Has email"
and name a view for Accounts "Has email." I seem to be running into a bug
when doing this. I receive the following error:
User would see...
"Duplicate Record
The specified domain logon name already exists. You must specify a unique
domain logon name or open the user record that is using this name already."
However, I'm not changing a domain logon name. I am changing the name of a
view. Any ideas? I've included more error messages below.

Outlook Client will not go Offline
Hi
I know that there have been numerous posts regarding this issue, but I can't
seem to find a resolution to this particular one, it has only happened on
one customer site:
Installed MSCRM 1.2 server - great - went like a dream. Installed Sales for
Outlook on a W2K client with Office 2000 SR1 SP3 and the required hot fix -
Also installed without a problem. When outlook is fired up it is in an
online state and can see the MSCRM server data OK. When you attempt to go
offline, the following error is given:
'You do not have sufficient permissions or access rights to perform this
action'
If I add the user into the domain admins group then it syncronizes OK. If I
install an outlook client for the Administrator, again this syncronizes OK.
I have checked the following:
1. The user is a local administrator on the client machine
2. The user is part of the Domain Users group.
3. I added a domain users login to SQL and gave it access to the MSCRM &
MetaBase databases
4. I also added the domain users onto the access list for the MSCRM &
MetaBase publications (This requirement which was in the V1.0 IG seems to be
missing from the 1.2 IG but I tried it anyway)
5. There is no entry in the event logs for this error.
The only TK's that I can see relate to stuff like not finding the path to
the server which is obviously not my problem. Can anyone suggest where the
permission is not set correctly?.....I am ruling out a software or install
issue as if I change the user to a DA or sync as the Administrator things
are OK.

CRM v1.2 in a mixed environment
Hi All -
We're planning to install MS CRM v1.2 in a development environment and
we'd like to find out whether we can leverage existing CRM components.
For example, we have SQL Server 2000 installed on a test server
running Windows 2003 and Exchange 2000 installed on a production
server running Windows 2000. The SQL Server and Exchange servers are
in different domains. The test server for CRM will run Windows 2000
and is also in a different domain than both of these servers. f we
establish a trust between all three domains will it be possible to
successfully install CRM v1.2?
I've read in the installation guide that the sql server, crm, and
exchange server must all be a member of the same domain. If the
domains are trusted, will that still do the trick?
I appreciate any guidance.
