    - windows mobile 5.0 menu issue So, I'm porting an application that I wrote in CE 4.2 to a WM 5.0 device, and the menus are giving me headaches, rather than bang my head against the wall, I figured I'd see if anyone on here has any ideas. My menus are all controlled in a base form, which creates them on load ( a little weird, I know, it is just part of the app) I create one main menu, and then add the menu items. I realize that with Mobile you have to have more than two top level items or else it won't look like the old menus(a workaround to that would be good too, but that is minor). My problem is that the menu will load once, then when I go to the next screen, it will show the blue bar with the keyboard icon where my menu was, as I move through the application it seems random whether I get this blue bar, the actual menu, or nothing at all...I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions?     - CFSerialIO dll question Hi I'm trying to do something with serial port in Windows Mobile 2003 second edition. I just download the CFSerialIO dll to do some test. I try to use the infrared port to capture the signal sends by a TV control remote. But nothing happend. Is it posible to do that with CFSerialIO dll?     - Project Idea - SourceForge I have a small project I have written to track lease status on a ppc. Basically, you put in today's mileage and it tells you if you are over your limit to date, and based on your daily avergae, how much you will owe at the end. The app is written, but I wanted to do something like sourceforge so people who knew more about writing installers and such could ramp it up to something more end user friendly.     - .NET Framework Initialization error I have a client running several winforms application that I developed for him in VS2005 using the.NET v2.0 framework. Yesterday, all of the applications suddenly stopped working, giving him the following error: ".NET Framework initialization error. Unable to fin a version of the runtime to run this application" Clearly something has gone wrong. We have tried repairing and re-installing the runtime--no luck.     - CeRunAppAtEvent RSS232_DETECTED to detect Active Sync Connection Hi! I'm using the RSS232_DETECTED notification (CeRunAppAtEvent) to detect a starting Active Sync connection on a PPC. This working really good on Device with Pocket PC 2003 (SE) Phone Edition as OS. But on devices with Windows Mobile 5 Phone Edition nothing happens. I think, it has something to do with the way the devices Syncs (PPC 2003 : COM & WM5 : Network). Does anybody knows, whether there is a way to start an application on WM5 devices automatically, when an Active Sync Connection is established? I've tried the SYNC_END notfication, works fine, but this event fires much to often (even if the device is not connected!!).     - Debugging CF2.0 SP1 app on CE 4.2 I'm attempting to debug an app using CF 2.0 SP1 on a CE 4.2 device. The app is built using VS 2003 and configured (via <appname>.exe.config> to use the CF 2.0 SP1 runtime. The app appears to run without issue when launched from the device. When attempting to launch the app from the IDE (VS 2003), I get a CF .NET initialization error and am unable to debug the application. Is this a known limitation? After reading some articles it seemed that the easiest way is to use managed C++. I have managed to compile it for PC but apparently managed c++ is not available on Compact Framework.     - Crash on WM 5.0 after turn off/on Hi, I have a strange one. Application runs just fine. If I turn the PDA off, then back on, then sometime in the future I get the following exception when showing a Dialog or switching forms etc. I cannot repro this on 2003 SE and it only happens after turning the PDA off for a while.     - Msgina postmessage problem Hi everyone, I was working through the tutorial MSDN posted at http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/05/06/SecurityBriefs/ for replacing the msgina.dll . I am trying to (like so many others) create an automatic logon (sadly, no, I cannot use the pgina out there as amazing as it is! And I don't have time to understand it). Unfortunately, I am going through a lot of troubles! Here is what I was trying to do: I want to have a service which runs on a system account to communicate with the gina through sockets. The service actually does a few things (my motivations for keeping it outside of the Gina itself are complexity and security. Right now it runs on .NET and I don't want to introduce its vulnerabilities into the Gina for obvious reasons.). Next, I made a thread which is created when the Gina starts to be responsible for talking to that service. I got this to work sucessfully, and the two communicate fine. The next part was where I had troubles. To be consistent with the winlogon structure, i used postmessage to post a message to the dialog window. The end result should be that a control sequence is generated with logon information sent. In other words, an automatic logon. However, the postmessage always returns the error message illegal window handle. This is being drawn write from the GinaModalDialog class. I checked and the window handle DOES exist when I call postmessage.     - Hosting Flash ActiveX Hi All, I am working on hosting a Flash ActiveX control in my CF 2.0 application. I followed the instructions in Alex Feinman's webcast and did exactly the same. I load the movie using AxShockwaveFlash.LoadMovie(0, @"/Storage Card/BarZ/UIs/GPSRanger.swf"). When I do AxShockwaveFlash.Play(), I get a blank white screen and can see no Flash movie being played. However, when I check AxShockwaveFlash.Playing, it says true. I guess it means the player is open. I tried various swf files and various locations, but nothing helped.     - RDA with SQL Express Hello, I am looking at solutions other than XML based files for a project I am working on. I have data on a server that is in a foxpro database. I need to get a smaller version of that database on to a pda. With foxpro on the server and SQL serverce on the device I am looking for the perfect 3rd party tool and I think I have found it in either SQL\e (SQL Server Everywhere) or SQL/x (SQL Server Express). My issue is if I dump the data from the foxpro database to either SQL\e or SQL/x can I do RDA to the moblie device? If I understand SQL/e will be able to exist on a desktop and a mobile device and have the same file structure as SQL ServerCe (filemane.sdf) if this is true will this be able to function like Access (*.mdb) and pocket access (*.cdb) does now with active sync?     - Loading XML???? Hello, I am loading 12 xml files (along with 12 xsd files) to a symbol 8846 pda. I am loading the xml into a dataset, dsTraker. I would appreiate any comments, ideas or suggstions that would make this as effiecent as possible.     - Design-time problem: Forms designer will not show the form Hi! I am struggling with a significant problem. The form using my Instrumentation manager will not show up DESIGN-TIME. It gives an cryptic error message and sometime terminate VS2005. The solution compile and even run on the PPC. I feel that I have tried "everything". I am developing the solution with CF2.0 using Neoteric InstrumentationManager framework (CFIL) for exception logging (compiling the source code). CFIL is also dependendent on OpenNETCF. I used OpenNETCF dlls 1.x, upgraded to 2.0 without solving my problem. A really strange thing is this: When starting VS2005, and a problem form (in designer mode) is the first sheet that is shown, it is viewed as it should. UNTIL I rebuild the project/solution - then it fails. It also fails if the sheet is not initially viewed in designer mode. After each time a form has failed I need to restart VS2005, or it comes up with "needs to restart" error message. I seems to be that VS2005 is checking/validating something at certain events. But what is it checking? This WORKED FINE 1 1/2 week ago. Then I started working on a not finished form which came with this error message, and suddenly ALL of my forms got the same problem ('all" means all forms which inherit from a baseform which uses the Neoteric Instrumentation Manager). Are there any properties in VS2005 which controls such behaviour? **** Just to give you som more details: I tried to comment out the line 65 in CFIL.cs which you can see in the error message above. Then another problem showed up: Could not locate "coredll". Codeline: [DllImport("coredll", EntryPoint="QueryPerformanceCounter", SetLastError=true)] And that is correct I guess because coredll is not found on the PC, just the PPC. Why did VS2005 look for this design-time? **** I seems like it is some VS2005 design-time validation activites with assemblies and external dlls going on. I appreciate all help! I have made the same function but pressing a screen button and no problem appears, the problem is just with the trigger. Contact the device manufacturer. There's no off-the-shelf Windows CE of any
version that you can buy in a store. The OS is developed specifically for
the hardware in your device by the device vendor.
