    - How to show the wait cursor? Hi, How to show the wait cursor? From the VS2005 documentation it is supposed the Application class has the UseWaitCursor property. But it looks like this property is not enabled on the compact framework.     - VS 2005 Designer issue Hi All, here it goes, I have created a usercontrol "image button" and it all work fine except for one strange thing, when i drag the control to a form "smart device that is" and then save that form i get this error Code generation for property 'Image' failed.     - OpenNETCF Serial - strings struncated by NULL char Dear all, I am having some trouble using the OpenNETCF libraries. Actually It's VB.NET related. My data being read from the serial port is being truncated in some way.     - Custom and P/Invoke pb Hi, My custom control use some p/Invoke that are in coredll.dll. One of this call is done each time the control render. It works fine when running, but Visual Studio crash when I add the control to a form using the designer, telling me that the coredll.dll is not find. How can I prevent that ?     - Emulator does not connect to the LAN... Hi, I'm trying to set up my Visual Studio 2005 to develop a project for a device that will be connected to the corporate Sql Server 2000 database via a wireless LAN. The problem is I can't configure the emulator to be connected to the LAN. I've tryed both approach: through the Visual Studio Tools/Options/Device Tools/Devices/Pocket PC 2003 SE Emulator/Properties/Emulator Options/Network Tab/Enable NE2000 PCMCIA network adapter and bind to: "connected network card"; and I also tryed to directly configure the emulator on Start/Settings/Connections Tab/Network Cards/NE2000 Compatible Ethernet Driver by setting the same IP address of my PC and a IP address non used on my own network segment. Neither of these approaches work. To test if the emulator is correctly configured I use the Internet explorer on the device and point it to my intranet web server. As a result the emulator raises a dialog that say: "Unable to connect: You have no modem entries created, and no network card present." What I'm doing wrong?     - c# smart device dll Hi, My intention was to build a c# application for smart devices using VS 2005 that is based on a dll. I created a dll using eVC that worked well (I could access that dll by an eVC client app). Trying to port that to c# did not work. I used Dllimport and put the dll into the project dir and into the windows dir on the emulator. I get a system.mssingmethodexception "can't find dll". The transportation to the emulator was done manually. The dll was built for pocket pc 2003 (armv4) and the client app was any cpu. As I am a newbie, maybe I am missing a basic thing? Thanks Ivonne.     - Mobile 5.0 Running CF 1.0 App Hi All, I have a CF 1.0 Application developed using Visual Studio 2003. My application provides the ability to change culture which worked fine in PPC 2003SE but no longer works in Mobile 5.0. We get a generic exception (something about CompareInfo...) when we try to create an instance of the ResourceManager class. If we have an English PDA and dont change the culture it is fine.     - PtrToStructure killing pointers I am using .NETCF 2.0.5238.0 and presently (as VS2005 is unavailable in Germany) still VS .NET 2003 I am working on interop between an unsave C-written DLL and C#. Now, in a constructor of a class I am trying to get a structure copied from unsafe to a safe structure (class actually) using Marshal.PtrToStructure (IntPtr, Object). Returning from here my pointer goes to 0. What am I missing? I tried the same with Marshal.PtrToStructure (IntPtr, Type) and IntPtr is not null thereafter (but as I am using it in the constructor I guess I need to use the first one).     - Data exchange over wireless (best practice) Hi all! I'm a developer now for some years, but I've just started to develope for mobile devices. My problem is that I need to develope program for PocketPC (Win CE) that would read a barcode and the send the data over wireless to database server. I know how to read a barcode but I need some insight in what best practices are to exchange data with database server. I currently have a web-service on IIS that comunicates with database and has two methods exspoded (GETdata and UPDATEdata) that are visible to other aplicatons. This data is sent over the LAN in dataSet object (not string etc.) - the problem now is that Mobile devices project in VS2003 (C#) has no data-set object so I can not call those rwo methods on web-server.     - Multi-User TCP chat application Hi, I am creating a multi-user tcp chat application following the example instruction in msdn http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnadvnet/html/vbnet08282001.asp however, on the client side (Pocket PC), it will only run for the first time, but once connected to the chat server and close the application, i cannot start the application again for a period of time until i get an exception (ObjectDisposeException).     - Platform Builder issue. Sorry this is a bit out of context for this group but I could not find a CE or a Platform Builder group to post to. I am unable to run any of the Remote Tools. I build and I attach to the device. The image is copied to the device via TCP/IP, and the CE 5.0 image boots. I can then upload and debug VS 2005 CF 2.0 apps on the device with no problems. Created the SDK 1st for this to work. For some reason I am unable to connect using any of the remote tools in Platform Builder???? Any suggestions???     - 'Hiding' an application Im writing an app that when executed, has a UI. The user then can 'hide' the app and let it continue running doing whatever it does.     - ListView ItemCheck is always one behind?? VB I am using Visual Studio 2005 (visual basic) and Compact Framework 2.0 I have a ListView that will contain several Items. The ListView has checkboxes enabled. Whenever the user clicks on a checkbox to change it (check or uncheck) I want to indicate how many items are currently checked. This routine below looks correct to me, but each time I check or uncheck the number reported back is always the previous count and not the current count of items that are checked.     - Program Memory Low - Select a task to close or increase program memory I've been putting my application(C#, .NET CF) through some stress testing when I encountered this pretty nasty problem. Basically, when the application runs out of memory I get the "Program Memory Low - Select a task to close or increase program memory" dialog window with a list of running tasks that I can close to choose from. My app, however is NOT listed there. So, if I close everything else and my app still needs more memory I keep getting instances of this dialog window with nothing to choose from until eventually the whole system crashes at which point I need to do a restart. So, it looks like I'll have to handle this problem inside my application. The problem is I could not find a way to programatically determine the amount of free memory at a given point of time. I also could not find any event that occurs when there is no more free memory which I could handle inside my app. Does anybody have any idea how I can handle this problem?     - VS 2005 Cab project doesnt include form localization resource dlls I found a bug in VS 2005. If you choose Localized=true on your form and then make some resx files e.g. Form1.de.resx and change all the strings to German ones as you usually do - when you deploy the project to a pda it works perfectly and creates a de folder on the device with the german resource dll in the folder. However if you make a CAB project and choose the app project to be included, when you build the CAB it does not include any of the localization dlls in it.     - Custom Uninstaller and App Manager Hi all, When I deploy my VS2003-compiled app, it installs EXEs to the desktop side and uses the ActiveSync AppMgr to install the CAB to the device. I also control the deployment using an MSI file and have a custom installer and uninstaller on the desktop. After my app is installed, I have found that it can be Removed in two places - i) the Remove button on ActiveSync's Tools -> Add/Remove Programs and, ii) the Remove button for the app on the Add or Remove Programs on the control panel. Removing my app using the Remove button on ActiveSync (AppMgr) works perfectly as it has been setup to call my uninstaller via the AppMgr INI file, and so things get tidied up on the desktop side as well as the device side. However, if I (or one of my customers) decide to remove my app using the Remove button in the Add or Remove Programs on the Control Panel, the removal process fails. I assume at this point the uninstaller has no knowledge that the app was installed on the device via AppMgr and so the removal from the device does not happen. How can I prevent either i) the app from appearing on the Add or Remove Programs list in Control Panel or ii) prevent the Remove button from being operational on the Add or Remove Programs list and give a reminder to use the ActiveSync Remove button instead? It would be a custom shell, launching a restricted browser, which would open up the default home page, allow forward and back buttons, but not let the user type in their own URLs. In other words, users would be forced to stay on the default website and any links from there. I'm deciding how to get started on this. It appears that the IE browser is available as an ActiveX control, but not as managed C# code. I've heard that OpenNetCF has a managed code browser control. Basically, I'm just looking for some direction here before I start down a path. My choices appear to be: 1) C# OpenNetCF 2) C# IE through interop/ActiveX 3) C++/ActiveX native solution I'm not crazy about the idea of interop, which seems like a square peg in a square hole...     - WCELoad - Confirm file replace message I am working with the .Net Compact Framework, Windows CE 4.2 and VS .NET 2003 I have a situation where I need to silently install a cab file on the CE device, I cannot rely on the user pressing any yes/no buttons, so I have created the cab so that there are no read-only files etc. I install the cab by copying it onto the device and then remotely calling wceload.exe, using the OpenNetCF.Desktop.Communication.RAPI class, and giving it command line argument of /noaskdest "test.cab". Every now and then, and I cannot seem to nail the pattern, I receive a "Confirm file replace" message with Yes, Yes to All, No and No to All buttons. If I click Yes to All, I don't receive the message when I attempt to install the cab again, if I click No to All, I do, as you would expect. I have attempted to use /noui, but that doesn't help at all. I have attempted changing the fAskOptions value under the HKLM\Software\Apps\Microsoft Application Installer key, to no avail. I have exported the registry, both before and after an install and compared the two and there nothing out of the ordinary is changed. I have exported the filesystem information, again, before and after an install and compared the two and, again, nothing is out of the ordinary. Hi

I see this post after discussing with u on a other post for this problem.

So YES our company need a solution to sync Pocket Access through
ActivSync 4.

Our application is composed as this : a PC part (Access) and a PocketPC
part (eVB 3.0 + Pocket Access).

It runs well since WM5.0. Then no more Pocket Access sync ...

We try to use another solution :
On PC : VBA Access + MSDE
On Pocket PC : eVB + SQL CE 2.0
The sync is made through IIS and Merge Replication.

But it's not a good solution because it force our customer to have
Windows XP Pro (cause of IIS)!

So we wait for solution that will make our application runnable on WM5
and XP Home. And our customer wait too ...
