    - chunk length was not valid in HttpWebRequest class Chunk length was not valid in HttpWebRequest class I've seen a lot of people getting this problem and I've done a lot of reading, but I can't seem to find much about my particular instance... Background: I connect my PocketPC (iPAQ 3835) via SynCE (an open source equivilant to ActiveSync for Linux -- http://sourceforge.net/projects/synce/). The PocketPC connects to the Linux machine and tries to browse to a website on an Apache server (1.2.23) residing on this machine. Most of the requests made by the PPC are dynamic content so they come back with chunked-encoding. When a request is a certain size, it fails (3928 bytes is one example). It also can happen when the request is larger and individual chunks are some particular range of size (that's harder to pin down). This is not a public server so I can't give you any URLs. If need be, I have a VB6 app that makes similar requests via Winsock and I can send you the raw data back from it. This isn't https, just http and the Apache server isn't putting white spaces in the chunk sizes. If I connect the PPC to a Windows machine through ActiveSync it works just fine. So either ActiveSync is helping the PPC out or SynCE is corrupting the data. I tried the fix of changing the protocol to HTTP/1.0 and that did work. However, it makes requests so much slower than before. With HTTP/1.1 we could make 6-7 requests per second but with HTTP/1.0 it ranges from 1-4 requests every two seconds. We could settle for 1 request ever second, but 1 request every two seconds is too slow. NETCF 1.0 - did not work NETCF 1.0 SP1 - did not work NETCF 1.0 SP2 beta - did not work at all -- requests would go out, but no data would come back.     - SP1 ImageList problem I started developing my CF project using VS.Net 2003 without any service packs applied, with debugging and testing being done on a PPC2003 device. My project has a treeview control which has an ImageList to attach different icons to my TreeNodes. All worked well but then I installed .Net CF SP1 on my development machine and the device. Now all my images from my imagelist appear on the treeview with a black background. I also found that loading data from an XML file into a dataset was quite a bit slower. The only way I could get around these problems was to uninstall the service pack from the device. I didn't try rebuilding the imagelist as it's got about 120 images in it and took quite a bit of time to put together. Is this a known problem? I'm not desperate to get it sorted right now; I don't think I need anything from SP1 but I am looking forward to some of the bug fixes in SP2 and it would be nice to get to the bottom of it. (PocketPC) Hi, I've been studying the behavior of the NumericUpDown on a PocketPC since yesterday and found some interesting things: - Validating will be called if you change focus to another control, but won't if you maintain focus on the control while moving to another record. - KeyDown, KeyPress, KeyUp, TextChanged aren't triggered when typing into the text portion of the control, but TextChanged is triggered if I change Text by code. If I change the control's value by the text portion and move to another record, it doesn't save the contents, while if I change it's value by clicking on it's arrows and move to the next record, it saves the value. The events for the controls are hard coded and I relate the control to the event at runtime since the control is created at runtime.     - Displaying text without using labels? Hi, I have an monitoring application that displays various pieces of data, which are changing, within a form. The data is displayed in different colours (i.e. they are not all the same colour), and the various items are shown in different positions on the form. It's a status panel basically. I'm using labels to represent each data item. I don't want to use labels because: (1) I'm using the .Net Compact Framework which only allows around 100 controls before bombing out. I have multiple panels showing quite a few labels. (2) more importantly, it takes too long to draw on the screen. This is a real-time monitoring application. With data conversions, it takes around 300ms to draw about 20 floating-point data values on the screen (I'm using WinCE on a Hitachi SH4 processor). So is there another method? Harking back to heady BBC BASIC days of the 1980s, this complex task was achievable with the PRINTAT(x,y) statement! I need to display text at specific positions on the form, without updating all the data simultaneously, and I need to be able to display in different colours.     - FLASH vs. Volatile memory Greetings, I am looking for some suggestions on the best way to manage my data store. Currently, I am keeping my SQL CE DB in FLASH memory, but it is painfully slow. My other option is of course to keep it in volatile memory, but the likelihood of data loss is simply too great (mostly from power loss). I am about to embark upon a new strategy. Have the working copy in volatile memory and have a backup copy in FLASH which is updated on a background thread.     - problem with the debugger Hi, I have had a strange problem with the pc emulator I'm developing a relatively complex app where the main gui already exceeds 10000 lines. I recently added a bunch of new buttons and now, when i run the emulator, the application causes an unhandled system.notsupported exception at the point when initialize component method is entered. It is also confirmed when I start my application, hide it and re-start it... the same instance is then started. Im writing an app that sends and recieves data (a byte array) using the UDP protocol. The data I send is 36 bytes long (confirmed when I display "data.length -1"). But when I receive the data on the other end and do "Data.length - 1" It displays 35 (1 size smaller than the sent array). Yet when I interpret the data Its received in perfect form. My form is frmStartup, and this is the application's startup object (as opposed to sub Main() ). I have a module called "xmlHandler", and in that module, I would like to change the .text property of the lblStatusMessage label which is on frmStartup.     - managing device date/time Hi NG, we are looking for some help about controlling device system time. Our need is to prohibit our mobile application users to change date/time on their PDAs. Our application is disconnected and connects to a database server for exchanging data every now and then. Our first idea was synchronizing time with the database server when a connection is estabilished for data synchronization. This way we could ensure time is synchronized each time data sync occurs, even if users' behavior between synchronizations can't be controlled. Our sync manager doesn't allow time synchronization, which is instead supported by more sophisticated sync tools. Can anyone suggest a smart way to get server time (maybe a network service?). Having the device time synchronized with the server's, how could we ensure that device time is not changed by users between syncs? We thought about a background application on the devices monitoring time, but we don't like this solution very much. Can anybody give us some suggestions?
