    - Sending User Credentials over the Wire Hi, I'm working on an app which will run on the Compact Framework 1.x. The app will be docked to a workstation. The workstation will be logged in to the LAN with a valid NT user account. This app consumes a Web Service which will be located on the LAN. When the app then calls the Web Service, i was hoping that the user credentials from the workstation would be sent to Web Service - but my Web Service call fails, and this has leed my to believe that no user credentials are sent to the Web Service. Dim Ds As DataSet Ds = GetDS("Select * from Utenti") Cb.Items.Clear() Cb.DataSource = Ds.Tables(0) Cb.DisplayMember = "Descrizione" Cb.ValueMember = "Codice" It's a simple "Users" table with ID (codice) and description (descrizione). Is there a way to pre-select an item by it's code without cycling for all items in combobox ?     - Web Service Problem I have a Compact Framework project on a pocket pc device. In Visual Studio 2003 we sent a dataset over to a web service and it worked fine. In VS2005 we have been getting "Unable to read data from the transport connection" the InnerException is "An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" We change the dataset to class object instead but this did not work. It appears that it errors out at 24 seconds each time. We have set the size of the web service and the timeout setting double the default but this does not work. I'm kind of at a loss and don't know where to turn. The web service was in 2003 and we changed it to 2005 with no effect. Has anybody else run into this problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated.     - AutoScaleDimensions and AutoScaleMode I have developed an application using Compact Framework 1.0 and migrated to CF2.0. I am testing it in VGA device. I have added these 2 lines in the InitializeComponent method. this.AutoScaleDimensions = new System.Drawing.SizeF(96F, 96F); this.AutoScaleMode = System.Windows.Forms.AutoScaleMode.Dpi; All the controls created in the design time looks correct in the VGA device(Resolution 480*640). But when I create a control in some other method at runtime and set the size it looks smaller. Will the AutoScaleDimensions will not work for all the controls which are created during runtime?     - Text not displaying on Imate Smartphone I am having difficulties testing my application on an Imate smartphone SP3i. The phone is running WMSP2003 V4.20.0. I have run my .NET application successfully on phones running the same operating system but with the Imate my application appears and there is no text being displayed for any of the labels. The default font (Nina) has been used for all of the labels and I have verfied that the font is installed on the phone. Has anyone got any possible reasons as to why the text isnt displaying.     - Help file - images don't load unless I scroll away and back I made an html help file for my application. I included some screen grabs of the application which I reduces to less than 1/4 original size ... from 240x320 to 108x144 pixels. The files are saved as bitmaps, using 2bp extension. Each is 17k. when I launch the help file the images do not become visible unless I scroll to them - sop for instance if there is am image at the top of the help file, or next to a selected anchor link, the image is invisible (although a blank area of screen is there for the image) until I scroll down the page then back up. I an using C#, Studio 2005, CF2 and testing on Windows Mobile 2003. All of my image links are relative src="image002.2bp" and both the htm file and the image files are in the Windows folder.     - Migration from CF1.0 to CF2.0 I have migrated my compact framework application from CF1.0 to CF2.0 using the wizard in VS 2005. I have also upgraded the project using "Upgrade Project" option in the Project menu. After migration when I look into the project, I understand that the project in the applications are migrated to ".NET Compact Framework 1.0 forms application for Pocket PC 2003". Is there any way to upgrade the project to .NET Compact Framework 2.0 forms application? I observed all the project properties are same for the both the projects(.NET Compact Framework 1.0 forms application and .NET Compact Framework 2.0 forms application) in VS 2005.     - Toolbar buttons and transparency Hi, I use VS2005, CF1 I create a toolbar and a button on it. I use a 16x16 .gif picture with 256 colors and I mark one color from its palette as a transparency key (in Photoshop). But at runtime this color appears as the white color although the toolbar background is gray. So what is the right solution to have transparency when creating toolbar buttons?     - SIP InputControl Hey Guys, I have a wierd problem while using the SIP. I load a form which contains an InputControl. After I have finished with that form I dispose it and all the objects on the form. I then Load another form with another InputControl on it, When I press the button to bring the keyboard up, the EnabledChanged Event fires on the form I disposed?!?! I have no idea why. On one device we get an exception at closing the RS232 port which says something like this: "A thread (hex) has ended with 0". I know that OpenNetCF has a button that implements the PerformClick event, but I want to create my own. I have created my own, and the PerformClick method works just fine after the form is loaded.     - SDF Custom Control So I have a project in VS .Net 2003 that uses a custom control that I created and it all works great. I want to convert it all to VS .Net 2005. I opened the Control project, it converted to 2005 with no problems and compiled flawlessly. I wish I had spotted the fact that XmlValidatingReader is not present in the
CF v1.1 :-)

I see that XmlTextReader in CF V2 does validation. Is there any problem
with me installing VS2005 + Mobile Development SDK for PPC onto my machine
that has VS2003 + Mobile Development SDK?

I'm pretty sure that VS2005 wont screw up VS2003, but what about the Mobile
Development SDK? If I install the version for VS2005 will the version for
VS2003 still work?

VS2005 and VS2003 will install side-by-side. Specific SDKs will install with
either one or the other - PPC2003SDK for example is for VS2003, VS2005 has
PPC2003 support in the box, WM5.0 SDKs install into VS2005 only.
