    - App worked Yesterday - today cursor just spins?!?! Hello, my project was working yesterday when I closed up shop. Today, I turned on Visual studio and before making any changes, I compiled a copy of my app in debug mode. All of the components copied to the emulator - but the app wouldn't launch. I waited 5-10 minutes, and still it wouldn't launch. So I hard-reset the emulator. Tried debugging again, and all the components copied over again, but the app never launched! So I rebooted my machine, put the ipaq in the cradle, and tried debugging from there. On the PPC, the cursor just kept spinning for about 60 seconds then went away. I verified that .NET apps were working by launching another .NET app on the pocket pc. It ran just fine. I coped an old frmmain.vb backup to the compile directory and it worked just fine, which makes me think it's something in the "Windows generated code" that is messing things up.     - .NET FW SP1 - Cab Install Warning After upgrading an application to use CF FW SP1, after installing the cab file on the handheld, a warning messagebox pops up informing me to install the sql.ppc.arm.cab file. However, it's already been installed?!? This message does NOT pop-up with the 1.0 version of CF? Is there something I'm missing, or is this message by design.     - howto embed a panel class to different forms I have a Panel that I'm using as a dialog box. But I need to display this dialog in different forms, depending on the actions of the user. The easiest/fastest way of doing this would be to define the panel on each form, and use it as appropriate. But I know the Panel can be defined in another form (frmPanel), then instanciate that form in the other forms that need this panel, and somehow add the nael from frmPanel into the call form.     - .NET CF SP1 and VS.NET 2003 I'm trying to understand the procedure to ensure the updated CF FW gets integrated into VS.NET 2003. When I install .NET CF SP1, it installs it in it's own directory. It does not touch the CompactFrameworkSDK folder associated with VS.NET 2003.     - Smartphone application automatically poping to foreground I created a simple test application. A main Form with Border style "none" and no ContexMenu. In this form I override OnPain and OnPaintBackground. Inside OnPaintBackground I draw a bitmap to the screen. I run this in the Smartphone 2003 emulator. The application runs, the bitmap displays and the I press the home key, the application goes to the background. As expected.     - Clickable Label revisited I'm familiar with the label examples and understand them. Here's what I don't understand though....if I drag a label onto a form and add this event handler, it's kosher this.label1.Click += new System.EventHandler(this.label1_Click); Now, if I add a hanlder for label1_click like so: private void label1_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e) {MessageBox.Show("It Worked");} And I click on the label, nothing happens. however, the event does show up in this.label1. and I thought all controls had click as an event. If I do the EXACT same thign with a PictureBox, it works fine. When I click on the label nothing, click on the pictureBox works as expected. We feel that web services wouldn't be adequate for the rich remote GUI's and event-handling support we'd like to implement.     - Modem (GPRS) connection reset/close I have developed this nice application for synchronizing data from filed back to the central server. It can use different means of transport including GPRS. So far all our clients used QTEK (build in GSM/GPRS) for GPRS and it works fine. Now one client would like to use Siemens GPRS terminal that connects to PocketPC trough serial port. App works fine until terminal looses connection. PocketPC does not realize that connection is lost and I don't have any means from to reset connection and force PocketPC to dial again. I know that there is possibility to use connection manager API but that would require fer amount of rework. Is there any way to reset/close connection from within code so PocketPc can dial again.     - Tab Key Hello all, We have an application that is written in C# in order to run on Pocket PC 2.0 Our problem is that all controls ignore the "Tab" key of the keyboard in their Key_Down - Key_Press etc events handlers. It seems that the .NET Form is not aware that the Tab Key is pressed. This is a big limitation because our customers use a professional Symbol device with a small keyboard on it (it also has a barcode scanner) and the Tab key is ignored.     - What UI control should I use for this scenario? Hi, I am trying to display the following data on a form. The data can be thought of as having several rows each with 2 columns. The first column is just static text. The 2nd column is a enumeration type (with fixed enumerations). The user should be able to click a combo box and pick an enumeration. What is the best way to display this kind of data in a form? I have tried the following: 1. Tried a Panel control. and inside the panel I represented the 1st column as a text box / label and the 2nd column as a combo box. The problem here is that there is no vertical scrolling capability in NET CF. So only the first say 10 rows are displayed. 2. Tried a datagrid. The data that is being sent is an XML package. To develop in .Net CF, is it required we use Visual Studio .Net 2003? We currently have last years Studio .Net Architect (Version 7.0.9). Will we not be able to use this? 2.     - Pre-loading forms I would like display a splash screen while I pre-load a number of forms in a PPC app. I currently attempt to pre- load the forms under the Splash form's Load event. The problem with this is that it preloads the forms before it shows/loads the Spalsh screeen, thus defeating the purpose. Is there a different event that I should be running the pre-load under?     - How to run app after installing from cab? Hi, Any ideas or tips on how I can get my application to automatically run after installing it from it's cab file? In this particular scenario the app is automatically downloading an update of itself, the cab file will have been automatically downloaded to the device into the cabfiles folder on the storage card and then either warm-rebooted by code or the 'autocab' exe run, again by code, not sure which method I will use yet.     - "Cannot establish a connection ..." Hi, all. Please, please help! I'm working with VS.Net 2003 and (PDT 8100) PocketPC from Symbol. For several weeks I've successfully been developing and debugging a sample application using the compact framework. The device was connected with my computer through the serial port. Yesterday, I've tried the TCP connection using the network cradle - and the problems started to appear. First, the "Cannot establish a connection. Make sure your ..." appeared. I've downloaded "WinCE utilities" from MS site, run the "DelDesktopCryptKey" and have updated the registry using "ProxyPorts.reg" (in the process I've upgraded my ActiveSync to the latest 3.7.1) The problem with the connection was fixed. BUT, the application "refused" to copy to the device: when I hit F5 (debug) the debugging process starts, finishes and nothing happens - no error - the application was simply NOT copied to the device. Then, I decided to switch back to the serial connection ... and again the "Cannot establish a connection ..." error. I'm stuck.     - 3 Webservice Calls All, I have an app written in VB.NET for CF which is running on Smartphone 2003. I have function which uses webservices to upload user details to the server. All this works fine for the first two calls but on the 3rd things start to slow down starts to rak 20 seconds compared to 5.     - Override Windows Message from Voice Recorder I'm calling the voice recorder using SendMessage instead of having the user use the actual voice control. I can get it to record no problem. However, if the user touches anywhere on the screen and any control gets focus, it stops the recorder.     - SQLCE Insert Bug Found? Maybe this is already a know issue. I insert a lot of data into a SQLCE database from a remote SQL database using a prepared insert statement, basically imitating an RDA Pull. It seems to work well, but when I look at the SQLCE database, the first row of the table has no values for any string datatype. In other words, all the rows come back fine, except for the first row returned, where then any string value is empty. Numeric data types are fine. I've checked all the tables I use this method on and this error happens everywhere, any string value has an empty value in its first row, all subsequent rows are fine. I've stepped through the insert statement, and it seems that the data is being passed OK. Below is the code, please let me know if this is some kind of error, or if its just me. Hi All,

I am using TCP Sockets to provide the communications from the Client to the
Server for my smartphone application running on Windows Mobile 2003. Just
wanted to confirm, when I connect to the server using this method of
Sockect.Connect, will the Windows Mobile OS automatically start a GPRS
connection to service this code?
