    - Sync with Webservice I am using VS 2003/ C# for developing my application. I am using Webservice to interact with DB. On the login screen I do check from PPC application, whether Webservice is available or not. My problem is that once checked, and found Webservice is available user will enter the application, but in meantime if webservice gets down , or network failure occured, my application gets crashed, on any event like, button click or form close.....I just wanted that if, sync with webservice broken then, my application should promt user the same thing, and then close the application silently.     - ProtectedData.Protect Hi, I was wondering if there was anyone else who is having some difficulties using the DPAPI Crypto calls of WM 2003 SE/ WM 5.0. What I am doing ============= I am creating a library that wraps the provides RSA, 3DES, and RijnDael cryptoghraphic providers. As a part of this, the use of symmetric keys for the 3DES and RijnDael presents me with an interesting problem: how to securely store the symmetrtic key. To this end, I have gone down the path of using the DPAPI Crypto unmanaged API. I have tried using P/Invoke, as well as using the OpenNETCF 1.3 ProtectedData classes, but to no avail. The encrypt works great, and produces encrypted data nicely. However, I run into problems when I try to Unprotect the data. After much cursing and gnashing of teeth, I found the error message: "The data is invalid."     - FileSystemWatcher doesn't fire with Activesync I've got a FileSystemWatcher in a Windows Service watching a directory sync'ed under ActiveSync. However, the Created event doesn't fire when ActiveSync copies the files from the PDA to the local disk. It fires every time if I grab one of the files that's already been sync'ed and copy it right back into the directory. Is there any way to work around this? We have PocketPCs that are Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition and not immediately upgradable to Windows Mobile 5.0.     - Problem with maximized/no titlebar forms under CF 2.0 Hi, I ported an existing app to CF 2.0. The app is only using maximized forms without title bars or menus so that I get the full screen for my forms. Everything worked nicely under CF 1.0. But after the switch to 2.0, when closing a child frame, instead of just redrawing the parent frame behind it the title bar is briefly displayed. It looks as if CF 2.0, instead of redrawing the form in its actual state, it redraws the titlebar first before it falls back to the maximized/no-titlebar state.     - Slow DNS Resolving Whenever I want to use the GetHostByAddress function, the resolution takes quite a lot a time ( +- 8-9 seconds) before the hostname is resolved.     - Application loading screen Dear All, I hope that you all could get what I am going to mention down here and I appreciate on any help attempts. In order to avoid the noticable form loading time caused by form transitions while my application is running, I have decided to load all forms during the startup of my application. After that, using the Application.Run(Form) to show the first page of my application. However, this will then lengthen up the startup of my application as a sacrifice. Hence, I was assigned to create an application loading page (just a progress bar with blinking maybe) to tell the user the application is loading. Is someone out there could give me some hints from where I should start? How could I make a form stay on top of the loading process with the progress bar is blinking? After all the forms are loaded, then only the program should show the first form, which is the log on form. If you all find any doubts on what I am trying to ask, please don't hesitate to let me know and I will try to tell in more details.     - Phone application and hardware buttons Hi, I am stuck with my first VB.Net and Compact Framework project (I come from Delphi) and need a little help to get started Requirements: My Application has to replace the provider dependent phone application on the MDA III and MDA Compact. At first it has to provide the basic functionality, which shouldn't be too much: - dial a number with the touchscreen - catch incoming calls - start the application when the green phone-button is pressed Well, I am already stuck at the beginning: a) Replacing cprog.exe At first I tried to replace the original phone application with my self-written program, but without success. I couldn't delete, rename or replace the file. On the internet I found the information that the cprog.exe lies in ROM and therefore can't be deleted. b) Catching the phone buttons The green and red phone buttans can't be catched via Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms.HardwareButton... After a few tries I found out that they must be VK_F3 and VK_F4 - but the handling doesn't work stable (cprog.exe is started even when I "eat" the event with KeyEventArgs.Handled, sometimes the events arent sent etc.) After searching the Internet for a long time I found references to the function GetAsyncKeyState, but don't know how to implement it - I think I need a working VB.Net example here. c) Registry In the registry, the cprog.exe is associated a few times, but when I change a value (try to point to my application) it is ignored A possible solution to my problems with a complete different approach is mentioned by the user mamaich in a web forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=140351 Quote: "As you know OS communicates with GSM device through a COM-port. The variable form is passed in the ctor of the class as GPSSurveyForm - so the this.form.GetInvoker is strongly typed to GPSSurveyForm. I now want another form to also instantiate the GPSInterpreter class, so "this.form" would then refer to another form. I somehow feel the way around this is with an Interface that both those forms would inherit from, but I'm really struggling getting it to work as this is my first stab at Interfaces. Hi, I wrote some C# code to display the satellites, SNR ratios etc. I left it running for a few hours (not sure if this has anything to do with it), but now I see that some satellites appear more than once in the list (with diff SNR values).     - Dell Axim X50v Scaling Hi, The good news is that things just work when running the app on the X50v (640x480). The problem is that is seems that there is 2:1 scaling occuring - which would make sense. This means that the text does not look smooth and and when I do draw to a bitmap then use DrawImage, it scales the image (x2) resulting in slightly jaggy text and a slow DrawImage.     - Trapping PDA Keypress on PDAs with Keyboards - Please help! Hi, I'm using a Falcon PDA PSC 440 which has a built in numeric keypad. It has 2 function keys and what I'm attempting to do is have different screens called depending on the function/number key combination - e.g. Fn1 & 2 would give me the Customer screen, Fn1 & 3 will give me the Sales screen etc... The problem I am facing is by defaults, Fn1&2 will put an asterisk in a text box and Fn1&3 will put a minus sign. I'm putting code in the keypress event but how can I get around the input going into the Textbox? I tried recording the state before keypress, processing the code then overwriting the text but that's not working. If someone is in the Quantity box and presses Fn1&2, they get an asterisk which isn't the desired result. Can anyone help at all please? Thanks in advance. Regards, David. You have to join HPs developer program (http://h71018.www7.hp.com/hp_ids) to
get their full SDK. Perhaps this might help also:-
