    - Emulator Images dont show!!! Hi, Ive created both 16x16 and 32x32 ico files and ive tried including as content in the project and compile assign it as a solutions icon absolutley nothing!! Im using vis studio 2003 and vb dot net Basically i want an image to be displayed on the system toolbar. Ive based my form load code on Mr Feinmans article (Thanks alex very useful) But nothing comes up in the emulator!! Pray tell me how are you expected to develop apps for the pocket PC when trying to display an Icon appears to be a mamoth task!!! An ideas please!!!     - GPS intermediate driver - managed code sample falling over Hi. I've just taken delivery of an Imate Jasjar/HTC Universal I have managed to install the Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 GPS sample/(Windows Mobile 5 SDK). On the JasJar I did the registry change as outlined in: <http://pocketpcdubai.infopop.cc/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/6141068401/m/6301048501/p/1> to enable the intermediate driver control panel. I set my GPS Program port to GPD1 with a hardware port of COM4 (having first partnered with bluetooth GPS) However when I run the GPS sample, it connects returns a date and time but doesn't give a lat/long. Interestingly in the DegreesMinutesSeconds.cs I had to also had to add a try catch as I was getting divide by zero exceptions in the ToDecimalDegrees method (degrees is always being set to 0).     - I am getting the error: CryptAcquireContext failed. 0x80000005 well, I am using the cryptoapi to encrypt the data before sending it using GPRS to backoffice in my Pocket PC application.     - illegal operation Hi If I deploy a simple Windows Applicaion with Studio 2003 in debug-mode, it works fine as long as it does not hit a breakpoint. If it hits the first breakpoint the following Error is displayed: Fatal Application Error: Application SmartDeviceApplication2.exe has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor. Program: SmartDeviceApplication2.exe Exception: 0xC0000005 Address: 03FC0BC4 This error occurs only on one of three XP-Machines.     - IndexOutOfRangeException when CF is trying to consume webservice Hi everyone! I am wirting a program for Windows CE which gets its data through a web service. The stubs were created with Visual Studio .NET 2003 using the wsdl. Using this stubs with the normal .NET Framework, everything works fine. Trying the same code (recompiled for the CF) I get an IndexOutOfRangeException. It seems that the exception occurs when the answer of the call is being processed. Unfortunately, I cannot see the related SOAP messages because the connection is encrypted. Does anyone of you has experienced the same or a similar behaviour? Did anyone solve the problem?     - Today screen plugin sample required! Hi folks, I see this subject has been dealt with a lot, but I can't find the info I'm after. I want to add an item to the today screen with an icon and be able to click the item and run my app. I'm not a C++ programmer, but can usually tweak and rebuild existing code with some success! I've downloaded loads of samples, but all they do is display a text item with no reference on displaying an icon or capturing a click event to run a specific app. I'm quite surprised that there isn't a very simple example of this type of plugin available as I'm sure it's been asked for many times! The datasource for this grid is a static dataset from a consts class. To filter rows I set the rowfilter from the DefaultView of appropriate table.     - Have LocalAlloc and LocalFree to be declared as shared methods? Hi all, I'm using a ping class for a couple of months. Everything worked fine. All class methods were declared as shared (static in c#) methods. Now I want to make the class threadsafe, so I started to remove the shared methods and made a 'normal' class of it, which has to be instantiated. The class is using a couple of API calls, under which LocalAlloc and LocalFree. These 2 functions do only work if declared as shared methods.     - Network Development on CF 1.0 Hi, everyone. =) I'm looking for examples, samples, etc. pertaining to networking between PPC and desktops. The plan is to transfer commands and information over a network between the device and PC to remote control a PC application.     - Setting time in .net 2.0 I am trying to set the time programmatically on my PPC device and as expected, the time zone information is not refreshed.     - Deploying PPC 2000, 2002, and 2003 .NET App I was wondering if anyone can direct me on where to go for information on or how to create a single msi to install a .NET CF 1.0 app on all three PPC 2k, 2k2, and 2k3 platforms. I am using Visual Studio .NET 2003 and have managed to make an installer that copies the cab files and then executes the CeAppMgr.exe, but every time I try and install to a PPC 2k3 device, it says the installtion failed on the device.     - unhandled exception I wrote an application for our iPaq to do in the field inventory work. Like many projects around here as soon as it was completed people forgot that they needed it. Meanwhile the iPaq became discharged. All programming lost. I note that when I place a BMP in a picturebox on my form, there is some palette corruption when this is run on the device. Further, each time the image is loaded at run time on the device, the pallette changes slightly. Some colours are correct and do not change. I'd like to include latest CF service pack cab files (SP3 today) in these cab files. The installation (using wceload) launch, but never ends.     - MS SQLClient and collation Hi! I have a problem with MS SQLClient for CF and localization. I have device with WinCE .NET 4.2 and it doesn't have russian locale. My MS SQL database have default collation "Cyrillic_General" as it include russian strings. But in my WinCE app SqlConnection.Open() method throw exception PlatformNotSupported. I have changed default collation for database to "Latin1_General" and database is opening and working fine. But I need russian collation because in latin collation some SQL statements works incorrect. For example, "SELECT * FROM table WHERE name LIKE '%string%'" where string is string in russian, returns nothing but in russian collation this Select works correct. Could anyone help me?     - Pull Files down to PDA I've seen the reference to the OpenNetCF RAPI class for sending files to the PDA. I need to actually have the device pull files from a server's directory via an tcp/ip connection (eConnect ethernet docking station not ActiveSync). My plan is to build in functionality on the device which will look in the \Update directory on the server and if a file is found, check the version (possibly by name) against whether the device has the same file....if not it'd pull this file from the server down into the device directory. Can the OpenNetCF RAPI class do this? Or is there a better other way? I do have a web service running that the device can use.     - OpenNETCF/Connection Manager question Hi all, Here's what is probably a stupid question, but the Connection Manager is something that baffles me. I'm using the OpenNETCF ConnectionManager class to connect. What I don't understand is: How does the connection manager know which dialing entry to use? There doesn't seem to be any parameter or property to specify that. Some background: We have a transmission program that uses the Intelliprog RAS component to transmit data. It creates and manages a RAS entry using Intelliprog exclusively (interesting fact: The entry doesn't appear in the Connection settings if you go check manually - not sure what's up with that.) We also have a "toolbox" which is a troubleshooting program. The users can hit a button to contact a tech support PC which runs Pocket Controller Enterprise (which allows the tech support person to remotely control the PDA, transfer files, etc...) I created the dialing entry manually, but use the Intelliprog RAS component to change settings such as the phone number if necessary (that seems to be working fine.) The toolbox uses the connection manager to connect, to make sure that if the tech support person exits the toolbox, the connection isn't broken (unlike a "normal" RAS connection.) Somehow by magic the Connection Manager is using the correct dialing entry, but how do I ensure it doesn't wake up one day deciding to use the other one?     - Active Sync times out Weird one.... If i leave active sync in it's cradle, after about 2.5 hours, active sync doesn't want to stay syncrhonized. By that, i mean i can see that it's still got it's green icon in the system tray, however, when i try and explore the mobile device through explorer, no files appear.     - POOM .NET CF Wrapper sample problem Hello. I have downloaded POOM sample wrapper from MSDN and started experimenting with it. I am working with the C# solution and compiled the native library required to use it on my device (a Windows CE 4.2 StrongARM processor PDA). I am able to start the application, retrieved previoulsy saved contacts data and define a new contact. Unfortunately, when I close the windows with a new contact inserted data the program crashes with an application exception. I think this exception is related to the native DLL but no details are given. I am trying to deploy a device application from VS 2005 to a CE 5.0 device
running Compact Framework 2.0. I am initiating the deployment from the VS
IDE.

When Visual Studio tries to deploy, it fails and I receive a "The bootstrap
could not be loaded." message. What is causing this and how do I fix it?
