    - problems with emulator under vs.net2003 Hello, on my laptop I installed all the software - like microsoft described in the SDK for WinMobile 2003-based-PocketPCs documentation. But when I debug my test application in the emulator (PPC2002 or PPC2003) the files will be copied to the emulator and in the status bar of vs.net the info appears, that the application will be started. but the application doesn't start, even if I wait a few minutes. does anyone know, where the problem is or how I could transfer e.g. a cab-file from my PC to the Emulator ? thanks martin Tag: TcpClient Class Tag: 17867

I created an INF file is appended. However, file name of the surely same name (abc.xml) It cannot copy to another directory.     - SQLCE2 compact database failing? Hello. Has any of you heard of any issues on the compact and repair database feature of the SqlCE provider? It seems that - occasionally - the procedure fails leaving an empty database without throwing an exception. I am guessing that this it has something to do with the memory (ram or flash) running out during the compact and repair operation. Any help would be greatly apprecieated!     - PocketPC Battery Level Hi there, I am wanting to read the current battery level on our Symbol PDT 8146 (PPC 2002) units using an app written in VB.Net. It has been suggested that I can use something called "GetSystemPowerStatusEx()", however, I have no idea if this is a Registry Key, Reference, part of another Namespace or whatever.     - Uniqe identification of devices I have a C# application that runs on about 500 Pocket PC's (Intermec), and when I talk to these Pocket PC's I need to know which Pocket PC I'm talking to.     - Bug in DateTime I have written a inventory application in C# that was used in 21 stores this newyear. The data from this application is written to XML. On each item that is scanned (we use Intermec Pocket PC's) we write the datetime when the item was scanned to the XML (on each record). I got about 60000 records form these stores to process. That was no problem. But on a few of these records I got the year 2204 in the scannedtime element not 2004. These records could come among records that where ok, and they were few.     - databind datagrid to arraylist with custom objects Hi I want to databind a datagrid to an array list with custom objects. But I don't want every property to be displayed in the datagrid. If I use fields instead of properties they won't be displayed, but I need them to be properties for other reasons. I've tried using tablestyles, but that only seems to work with datatables.     - vb.net multithreading problem Hi, I'm trying to program a multithreaded application - it currently works, but I have two problems. I'm relatively new to VB.NET (vb6 and C were my things) so I'm kind of lost here. The code is based on the countdown / controlinvoker quickstart at GotDotNet.com. The problems are: (1) There's a memory leak somewhere. I don't know where, but it's probably something stupid I've done in the code below. (2) How do I set it up to exit gracefully (i.e. where in the application should I set threadsRunning = FALSE); at the moment even when in debug mode it crashes when stopping - I assume because I haven't sewn things up properly. The basics of the thread architecture are below. I've added a second thread to the quickstart code, and I've added a second ControlInvoker instance. With regard to the two threads, one updates the screen and the other communicates with a data comms interface, and passes some of this data to the serial port. The communications routine should take priority over the screen updating. Can anyone cast an expert eye over it and tell me where I'm being thick? I'd be very grateful.     - Proper way to install CE 4.2 emulator I installed to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\CompactFrameworkSDK\ConnectionManager\Bin, since 'emulator.exe' was in that directory. The install program's default was in some samples directory. In VS when I run a project on the emulator, the splash screen still comes up as CE 4.1 emulator. It appears the new emulator.exe and pbemulator.exe files were put on to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows CE Tools\Platman\bin. 1. What is the proper dir to tell setup.exe to install to? 2. Should a new device appear in the list of devices in Visual Studio 3.     - Popup Forms in VB.Net 2003 I am trying to create a popup form (or a dialogue) that is owned by another form. I want the form to come up in the middle of the screen and to have borders, I do not want it to take up the whole screen... I also want it to be application modal.     - bypass downloading CF to CE.NET device We have an OEM CE device with CF built into the image. We also use remote debugging. I have noticed the CF is always downloaded to the device when the debugger is first launched even if it is already resident in the image. Is there a way to override this? I have an image with CF SP2 built with Platform Builder embedded. When debugger is launched the original CF 1.0 RTM (from VS) is loaded (not what I want). I know I could copy the sp2 redistributals to the VS directory to allow the sp2 file to download, but from what I have read this is not recommeded.     - Control.MousePosition & ContextMenu Problem Hello All, I have looked back through the postings in this group and there seems to be a recognised problem with getting the MousePosition for a control when a ContextMenu is assigned to that control. It seems that a tap 'n hold event does not update the MousePosition. There doesn't seem to be a problem when using the emulator only when running code on an actual device.     - Problems installing Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2 Device Emulator I cross-posted because I'm not sure in which group I should pose this problem. I have been attempting to install the Windows CE.NET Emulator, but with no success. I eventually get an error message that says: (in the title bar) "PBEmulator.exe - Application Error" (in the body) "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142).     - Custom Information In .INF File Is Overwritten by BuildCabFile Hello, I have let visual studio .NET 2003 build my buildcab.bat and my sampleProject.inf using the build cab file function. Good so far. Then I change some information in the .inf file i.e. provider and installdir and rebuild the CAB file. When I then use the function build cab file again, my inf file is overwritten with some default information. So that now provider is set back to "My Company". Hi I did not see a lot of smartphones devices on the market , the one i saw are rather unhandy. and large (more CPU , more memory and as result more power consumption and reduced operating time between re-charges) I have seen other phones with operating systems that have a smaller footprint (Symbian OS on ericsson P900 and P800 ) (and where is the pen touchscreen on smartphone ?) Basically I'm not using databinding anymore to change the customerID of a label but rather the .Text propery. I do however still have a problem with refreshing my DataGrid. In one of my apps some of the controls are bound to my own data objects, but those data classes also have code to send notification back to the GUI whenever the state of their data changes to perform other actions. I ended up writing a bit more code than I expected, but now everything works the way I want. This sounds like a good approach to me too. But if it's not working the way you want, then you have to look for workarounds. Javier,

In version 1, the TcpClient class does not support the functionality you
are looking for -- I have logged adding TcpClient.Active as a feature
request for version 2. The Socket class provides a Connected property that
can be used for this purpose. Please note, you will need to implement your
application using Socket as the underlying socket is not available from
TcpClient objects on the Compact Framework.
