Hi, All
I have develop software for Texlogix Psion (Mobile 6.0) in CF 2.0.
During testing i found out that device sometimes can't detect existance of
storage
card, it happens when i am trying to upload files to PC.
After one or two successful uploads, looks like storage card (removable)
SM-MMC Card renamed to SM-MMC Card2 and all files arrive to newly created
directory
"SM-MMC Card"...
Any help on that. Is it known issue?
We had this problem a few years ago with Casio, but it was fixed by installing
patch file on each unit from casio.
Looks like another new unit with latest OS having the same problem.
Is it normal issue or only applies to specific device like Texlogix Psion?
I contacted Psion tech support on this matter, so far no answer, but they
suggested
to check if storage card has the destination folder before each upload
process.
Is it developmet environment .NET 2005 issue or handheld problem?
Please, help

It's definitely a device-specific problem. Only Psion can fix it, though
you can check the destination folder as they suggest as a workaround.

I've never seen this before in all my mobile time with any version of CF so
maybe its a device hardware issue. Unless anyone else has had this problem...

This may or may not be your problem. When you insert a card, it 'mounts' as
a "Storage Card" directory. If you open (and keep open) a file in that
directory, then remove and re-insert the card, it will mount a second time
as "Storage Card2".

Do the following: stop the app, remove the card, delete all card-related
directories, insert card, run app. Now without ever removing the card, do
you see the "Card2" directory appear?

And one more thing,

I don't know what happens in CE5 but in WM5 and above, when the device
is in energy save mode, it cuts the electricity of the storage card,
meaning that the folder "Storage Card" does not exist. If when
"Storage Card" folder does not exist and you create folder in "Storage
Card" (so you create also "Storage Card" folder) then when the device
actually detects the SD Card it will name it as "Storage Card2".

This is not device specific problem but is OS specific.

Thank you, all for your input!
I have to perform more testing on that.
