    - can not delete excutable in Pocket PC hi all, We are developing an pocket pc application for months, and we often see a weird bug: since deploying informs to be failed, we try to delete the executable but we can not delete it in pocket pc sometimes, then we have to reset device!!! This event often happen when we stop debugging in VS.NET 1.1 2003, and occur both in device and emulator. Any advice would be very appreciated. FYI: developing machine: P4, WinXP pocket pc: Fujitsu Pocket LOOX Wireless Model（FLX3AW） Normally, we do the exact steps : rebuild, connect, deploy and debug.     - Enable SIP without having a mainmenu or taskbar Hi @ all, after reading a lot of stuff, I couldn't find a solution. I have an application, written in VB.NET, which needs to run in kiosk mode without any tasbar, main menu or something else. As it is an application, where data has to be entered, I really need a small keyboard, which could be activated if needed. Does anybody know how to split the SIP from being dependent on a menu/taskbar? Does anybody know another possible solution like a keyboard-control?     - Help needed with SQL CE Ok, first of all I'd like to know if this statement is true : The basic integer data type can handle data values ranging from -2,147,483,638 through 2,147,483,647 in SQL i mean... And is there some limit in the number of rows in a CE database ??? Because i'm trying to read in a database which has 2 tables. One with 4 columns and like 80 rows, the second has 4 columns and about 39000 rows. When I try to fill the databse I get the following error : System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeError : The data is truncated so I guess or that i'm using too big of a number to be contained in the int field, or I'm using too big of a string in the nvarchar field ???     - General access to Windows Directories on PPC, C# Hi all, During installation of my PPC app (C#), I install a custom font file (TTF) into the \Windows\Fonts directory on the PPC. This is achieved in the .INF file by specifying its location as %CE15%, a macro string. However, in my C# code, I hard-code this path in one of my global strings, as follows: public static string strFontPath = @"\Windows\Fonts\"; I have now found that international versions of Windows do not use the English name "Fonts" as a folder name. Are there macro-like strings in C# that I can use to access the specific Font folder without the need to hard-code it? Or is there a more "international" standard of accessing these folders without knowing the local language? In fact, this question will apply to all sub-folders under \Windows. He created some methods to access SQL CE Server, and I wrote an Today Screen Application. I need to call those methods, to get data to show in Today Screen Item. I saw some articles talking about COM interop, but always between .NET and Visual C++, not embedded VC++. My teacher said, maybe the only way is using sockets. It is possible to do that?     - Compression, Can It Be Done? hi, What i'm doing is grabbing the image from a picturebox, which is getting stored into a memory stream. The problem with getting the bitmap data this way is i can only get 16bit and 24bit images. This would be fine but i then want to send this data over the internet to a remote pc. Which is all do-able except the size of the bitmap data is around 57k!!! which is far far too big! So wot i need to do is compress the data. I have added a field called "dataobjectname" which I set whenever I add the data member. The problem arrises when I want to read the xml-file back into a dataset on a pocket pc application. Some of the fields which are strings have whitespaces added to end of the values in the dataset but not in the xml-file. How do I read the xml-file without getting the whitespaces? The clients had problems with the build in MS-Mail-Client (Settings lost etc.) so i think a complete build-in-solution would be the best (a config-file with smtp-server, name, passwort or something and then a build in client to send out a file) Are there any solutions available that i could use "out of the box" or which are really simple to implement? I need to send one file to a specific Mail-Adress. The Application runs on a MDA-I device (with WM2003) so i like to use the build-in modem (GPRS) - but that shouldn't be the applications problem, right?     - Cross Platform Advice Hi, I have a C# CF application that I would like to also execute on regular Windows. It has some API calls in it so I have already #def'd these so they will only apply when running against the CF. With the previous version, I ended up creating new windows forms and then cut and pasting the code from the CF version into the new forms - this was laborious at best and then I ended up with two source bases to fix bugs in etc. If I try to open the CF forms in a windows project, Visual Studio complains alot about the resx files so I assume there is CF specific tags in the form defintions. Has anyone got any advice as to the best way to migrate a C# CF application source base to regular Windows? Whenever I try to deploy a VB.NET solution from VS2003 onto my Symbol PPT8800 (CE.NET 4.1) I get following error after just after copying the executable to the device: Error: ConnectionInterrupted from connection object. ---------------------- Done ---------------------- Build: 1 succeeded, 0 failed, 0 skipped Deploy: 0 succeeded, 1 failed, 0 skipped I get this error whenever I Debug->Deploy the application. The device is connected to my development system by means of a serial connection. The PC is running AS 3.7.1. Building, deploying and debugging the same solution to a CE.NET 4.1 MD40600 device works fine. This device is however USB connected. I have tried several options such as: -uninstalling AS 3.7 and installing 3.5 -out various TCP connection settings -Smart device authentication identification (showed connection problem) -Select Windows CE device CPU None of these seem to work. I start to get desperate since it needs to be deployed and debugged on the PPT8800 since that has a scanner build-in. I have followed about any thread but have come up empty so far.     - TextBox Always Having All Text Selected? Hello, For various reasons I want to create a text box control that, when text is present in the control, always has the entire text selected. Right now, I can get the text box control to select all of the text when a user enters it but if they tap on the text box (mouse click) then the text is un-selected and if the user taps the text box again, all of the text is re-selected, etc. I want to prevent the user from having the ability to tap on the text box and have all of the text become un-selected. The application with the drawing issues can be downloaded from http://www.haggard-and-associates.com/Products/h&a_pocket_spider_solitaire.htm Here's the situation: the application has 104 cards. Each card has a single graphic (heart, spade, club, diamond) and a number (1-K). Here's how it's working now: I'm using the standard double buffering approach to get around the flashing problems. The erase background event has been intercepted and does nothing. Each card maintains a copy of its image so that it was not necessary to construct it each time. At Paint event time, a bitmap of the clip rectangle size is created. A graphics object is created to contain the bitmap. Those cards that intersect the clip rectangle are drawn into the bitmap. Once all of the cards have been drawn, the bitmap is copied to the device's display surface. At the end of the Paint, the clip rectangle bitmap and its graphics object are disposed. The performance is acceptable but there is significant delay. In a non.NET application, I know that this could be done so that the delay is imperceptable. Can .NET operate as efficiently or is the .NET overhead so much greater that this performance hit is just something that we're just going to have to live with? Or is there a better way to draw graphics? There are two areas that are potential time sinks. First of all, during the paint, a new bitmap is created and disposed of with each Paint event. How much time is eaten up by creation of the bitmap? Would it make a sifnificant difference to create a memory bitmap at the start of time and just hang onto it until end of program or would that be a resource hog? Secondly, this code has a lot small object creations. Is this important? How many CPU cycles get chewed up with a "new Rectangle(xxxx)" call? Is this significant?     - Application Lock Hi all, I have a strange problem. My application which is developed on VB.NET is installed on Pocket PC and the sdf is placed on a storage card. The system is working perfectly fine as of now. But occasionally, it is getting locked up. In the sense, any number of clicks on the Icon doesn't start the application. I cannot uniinstall the application, it gives an error message that application is still running. I cannot re-install application. I can only restart application after a soft reset.
