 - How to Launch IE to a specific URL? I have been looking over the newsgroup and some of the sites (Code Project) and OpenNET CF for help but am stuck. I am creating a VB.NET based PocketPC application. We have a known URL from the application and now want to launch IE. With Windows .NET it has been very straight forward to do this. However, the approach used for Windows .NET is not supported in .NET CF. So, are there any examples (VB or C#) that I can learn/copy from? What do you recommend?  - To my OpenNETCF friends Hi. :) I have a bunch of OpenNETCF 1.2 assemblies referenced in a CF 2.0 project; VS 2005 seems to want to push the *CF 1.0 CAB* file to the device each time I deploy--could the OpenNETCF 1.2 assemblies perhaps be causing this behavior?  - requires install of OpenNETCF ?? I just installed my cf app onto a device (it runs from the emulator), I installed first all of the required cabs including OpenNetCF.sdf.ppc3.armv4.cab, and after my app gets installed the following message is displayed: <myappname> requires the installation of OpenNETCF.SDF.ppc3.ARMV4.CAB for it to run properly. Intall the Cab file before running this application. I did install it, and it displays in the Remove Programs applet. I've installed this many times before without a hitch.  - Cancel SQL CE Replication gracefully? (i already posted this message a few days ago on the sql ce newsgroup and no one has been able to help me...) Hello... We are running a .Net CF app with SQL CE 2.0. In the cases where there is a long running replication process (we have some mobile devices that are replicating via cell modem...a requirement), does anyone know of a way to cancel gracefully out of a replication process? I was thinking of changing our current replication function to operate on a background thread for starters...but then....is there a "cancel" or "abort" call that I can use to gracefully end replication?  - Garbage Collection & Creating Class Instances Hi! I had a problem for several days and now found out what it is caused by: When calling Sub New of a class under XP, on a specific line (getting IP address) the procedure was left immediately without raising an error. Break Points in code lines after the "x = new y" were ignored. Stepping through the code opens a message box on that line: "There is not source code available for the current location." The cause: The program is a terminal emulation running in two versions for XP and CE but sharing most of the code. When the connection is closed the program restarts internally. Under CE the memory runs full because the garbage collection doesn't clean up. So I added: GC.Collect() GC.GetTotalMemory(True) GC.WaitForPendingFinalizers() This runs perfectly under CE. But under XP it seems to dispose objects that are created afterwards, _while_ they are created! I solved the problem by detecting if it is a CE device and calling GC.* only there.  - I want SQL 2005 Management Studio! I'm running Beta 2 of VS 2005, and I accidentally installed SQL Express 2005 with the default installation. It doesn't include the nifty management studio. So I tried to install the Developer Edition (latest CTP) off MSDN, but I still don't seem to have access to those tools.  - Combo.SelectedIndex Changed Event? I am using a combo to select records from a datagrid. If the user selects an item in the combo with the stylus, the events fires three times, and the datagrid.selectedindex switches to the correct value, before reverting to 0 twice. However, if the user selects an item using the directional button on the bottom of the pda and scrolls to a record, the event fires once and the currect record is selected in the grid. Does this sound like intended behaviour?  - How can you automate the creation of a SQL CE virtual directory? I'm having a devil of a time figuring this out. I need to create the virtual directory to be used by SQL CE RDA as part of an Installshield installation of our product, but I cannot get it to work properly. It seems there is no way to have it create the directory with both Run Scripts and Executables permissions set. Has anyone done this?  - Ballon tooltip I understand i can use the UserNotification class for raising a reminder dialog box.  - Cannot sync when Auto Identity Ranges Enabled? I have been pulling my hair out with this for some time now: I have a small db which I need to merge replicate with a number of PocketPC devices. NT Authentication is used. If I do not enable the automatic identity range option, the PocketPC clients can connect without error. However, if I enable this (which I need to), the PocketPC user gets a host of errors: 1. (Code 80004005) A call to SQL Server Reconciler failed. 2. (Code 80045007) The merge process could not retrieve article information for publication 'Survey' 3. (Code 0) {call sp_MShelpmergearticles(?,8000000,?)} 4. (Code 4833) Could not connect to server 'SERVER1' because 'SQLAdmin' is not defined as a remote login at the server. SQLAdmin is our Service startup account. It is a member of the Administrator group. The user account being used to connect is a standard domain user account. If I add the user to the Administrators group the process succeeds everytime. I have checked permissions on the SQLCE folder, and snapshot folders and AFAIK they are correct (i.e. the user has write permission). It looks like a permission problem, but I dont know where. It seems the only solution to this is to add the user to the Administrators group (totally unacceptable!).  - [C#] Use a HTC Camera to perform a preview and take a picture Hi, I'd like to use a htc camera to take some pictures and to perform a video capture (preview). I know the Neil Cowburn's dll (http://blog.opennetcf.org/ncowburn/UsingTheIntegratedCameraInHTCDevicesFromManagedCode.aspx) but that dll is starting a new process (Camera.exe). I'd like to use a dll to develop a preview in my application (without starting a new process) and to take some pictures in my application. Somebody knows if a dll exists to execute a preview ?  - DataGrid and DataView question I inherited some code that binds a dataset/datatable to a datagrid. When the user highlights some rows the code loops thru a DataView of the grid to act on those rows. This works fine, unless you first click a column to sort by that column. Then the datagrid rows are not in the same sequence as the datasource table. I'm thinking this is a definite bug in this code, but I'm wondering what the point of doing things this way might have been. I mean why bother with CurrencyManager and DataView if you can just access the elements via datagrid1[row, col]? Here's an example of the loop which seems overkill to me (besides not working if you sort first!): CurrencyManager mgr = (CurrencyManager) dataGrid1.BindingContext[dataGrid1.DataSource, dataGrid1.DataMember]; DataView dv = (DataView)mgr.List; for (int i = 0; i < dv.Count; ++i) { if (dataGrid1.IsSelected(i)) { DataRow row = dv.Table.Rows[i]; <get a field from row here...> } } I mean, if the datagrid got sorted, the underlying datatable or dataview isn't also sorted is it? When I try to use the unicode hexadecimal number to convert to the character I can only select from Tahoma's character map and maybe a couple of others.  - Using ActiveSync (CEAppMgr) with signed .cab files fails Apologies if this is not the correct place to post this message. I wasn't sure where to post it. What am I doing wrong? I'm using CEAppMgr, along with the required ini file, to install a Windows Mobile 2003 app onto my Smartphone. Within the build environment, I am creating a cab file for my app. Using a batch file, for now, I call CEAppMgr passing in the ini file that knows of the cab I've created. It works great! The problem: To enable my app to install and run on 'all' Smartphones, I intend to sign the cab. For testing purposes, I am currently signing the cab with one of the Test Certs. The problem is, that when I sign the cab, CEAppMgr will no longer install my application. I turned on the simple debugging supported by CEAppMgr and found that the cause is that the file size embedded into the cab, no longer matches the actual file size (because of the digital cert).  - CF SP3 And Globalization All, I have written a VB.NET application for a CE.NET device with 3 current languages available (en, fr, es). It was running fine unil a new device image was loaded which included SP3. There are currently two issues: 1. If CultureInfo is not specified when calling GetString from the resourcemanager, no culture specific string is returned, regardless of the Regional settings on the device. Workaround by getting CurrentCulture and passing that it. 2. Localizable set to True on the form and text for controls set for each available language. Default language is always used, and when I checked CurrentUICulture, it is set to "en-US" regardless of the regional settings and CurrentCulture. Because both CurrentCulture and CurrentUICulture are read-only on CF, there is no apparent way to force it. Not sure if OpenNTCF supports this function, but I had to remove it from the project due to deployment issues, so I do not want to add it back.  - Catch Event: PDA into PowerSave Dear Group, I am developing a client-server application with pda's. I use the class Socket to obtain a connection between server pc and client pda. When the pda goes out of range of the WIFI network, then it is succesfully disconnected from the server. But when the pda goes into power save mode, it gets disconnected on client side, but the connection seems still up in the server. When i then send data through this socket in the server, i receive no notification that the connection was closed. (and so the sent message is sent into the void?)  - Setting the time with opennetcf seems to modify the time zone... Hi, I'm setting the system time using OpenNETCF's DateTimeEx. I get the time, in UTC, from SAP R/3. Often (but not always), the timezone changes a few seconds after calling (or it's visible a few seconds after that) SetSystemTime. The clock in the upper right moves a (seemingly random) number of hours, and the application logs show the same behaviour. This timezone thing is my guess, anyway, could be something else. The one thing I know for sure is that the time we receive from SAP is correct, so either we are calling SetSystemTime incorrectly (unlikely, it's too simple, plus it works sometimes) or SetSystemTime isn't working as expected.  - SQL CE and Getting Data from notebook Hi There I've some trouble on finding and good solution to get my Data from the Notebook to my PDA. I've some data in FoxPro DBF (DBase Like) on my Notebook. ( Upto 50.000 Datarows) What would be the best way to get them on the PDA? I tried to write them to XML and send themn to the pda which schould import the data. But the CF ist very very slow when a XML FIle is bigger then 1 MB. The Comserver could also transform the data into access, excel, CSV etc. I heard that it is possible to let AcitveSync synchronize access db''s between NB and PDA. Does this synch work filebased or datarow based? So I would only have to keep the 2 databases current and let AS the Synch work done. What about performance of an AccessDatabase when it has about 50.000 records? Would it be a good think if i would only make the communication via this access synch and then let der PDA import the files from the access DB to the SQL CE Database? Many questions. Till yesterday, I was able to display properly Thai font in my ListView Control on ASUS Pocket PC.  - Caching Web Service Calls when disconnected. (C# Project) Hello, First time poster here. We are developing an application running on the Pocket PC O/s that connects to a Java application server. We have real time services working. We are now developing code for a disconnected state. On the pocket PC we catch a SoapException, letting us know the system is unavailable. At this point, I would like to start caching pertinent web service calls. My first question is how should these web service calls be stored. As raw XML? How to save these message so I may call the web service again asynchronously? During the asynch call, I still need to make sure it completed. I am thinking I would start a thread that would wake up and attempt to reprocess the first of these cached messages. If unsuccessful, it would go back to sleep. If successful, it would run thru any saved messages and set back to a connected or real time mode. I haven't seen that specific error, but there are two immediate options that
come to mind.

1) Uninstall OpenNETCF and see if that corrects the problem.

2) Create a new project and add your existing source files to it. Don't
forget to set any additional project references you might have had.
