    - Sorting - textfile Hello, The .NET compact framework is power with a lot powerful objects. I want to sort a (csv) textfile. At moment I'm using a System.IO.FileStream, a System.IO.Streamreader and an Array. I loop the streamreader (while streamreader.peek>-1) and put the elements into the array. A one-dimensional array has a sort opportunity (array.sort) I also discovered the Microsoft.VisualBasic.Collection object. But this one has no sort opportunity. What is the most efficient way to read and sort a (csv) textfile? Or is my methodology 'the' correct one? Is there no obect like a stringlist (with sort property) in Borland Delphi?     - bluetooth connection between windows ce devices I'm writting a chat program in C# to use between two compaq ipaq's. The program won't go past the ReadFile function in the listen-thread.     - AS/VS/2003 slow Hi, I was running AS 3.7, worked great. When I upgraded from the Beta VS to the release VS, I installed AS 3.7.1. I also upgraded my Dell Axim to 2003.     - Looking for info on disconected recordsets. I've been hunting around all day for a site that I was at a few weeks ago and I can't find anywhere. What I'm looking for is a page that talks about the ability to have an app either send data to a server via 802.11 or is there happens to be no connection save it( to XML) until the connection resumes.     - How to use hardware buttons on PDA in application with VB I have a simple program that has a start and stop buttons. I want the user to be able to use the buttons on the PDA front to activate the start and stop buttons.     - Connection to SQL Server I am a VB6 programmer starting out in vb.net. I have been trying to connect to a SQL Server database using SQLClient from a pocket pc, but am unable to connect. my code is: cn = new System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection cn.ConnectionString = "User id=sa;password=password;database=test;server=192.168.0.2" cn.Open() However, the connection always fails with the error "SQL Server does not exist or access denied". I am running the emulator on one PC, the SQL Server is on another PC in my network. I am assuming that the emulator can 'see' the other PC, since I can open a terminal server client from the emulator to it. I wrote a 'normal' vb.net program with the same code and that connected straightaway, so I am assuming the connection string is okay. This ran on the same machine the emulator is on. So I think it must be one of: * the pocket pc can't use the same sort of connection string as a normal pc? * the link to sql server from the emulator is different to the link to the same machine using terminal server client?     - Kiosk Mode progrmming I am looking for a way to tie down a PocketPC 2002/2003 device to running a single, compact framework based program. I have looked through google searching for various combinations of keywords, but can find nothing suitable; the closest that I have gotten is the Kiosk mode article on http://www.pocketpcdn.com/articles/kiosk_mode.html, but this is not for the CF.     - ShowDialog working semi-modally Hi, I'm creating a dialog that needs more controls than a simple MessageBox. I don't want it to take up the whole screen and I would like it to be movable by the user (just like a MessageBox). I've created a Form and set FormBorderStyle to None. I call it using ShowDialog. ShowDialog is modal and blocks the calling form - that's good. The Dialog box works fine. The problem is that if I click on an area outside of my dialog box, my dialog box loses focus and the calling form is brought to the front.     - browser and rich text box controls for .Net CF Hi, Does anyone know if there's a broswer control OR a rich text box control for the .Net CF that has a "selected text" property like the textbox control does? I am needing to display formatted text (bold, change font, color, highlight) but also allow the user to select the text and my program recognize and FIND the selected text and where the cursor is at in the text like a regular text box (but not allow any editing). I am currently using the free browser control from the OpenCF group. I can format my text coming in by adding HTML tags and it works great BUT there's no selected text index and I can't find out where the cursor is at since it's a browser control.     - Regional Settings Problem / SQLCE money Type Hi guys, im having a problem with CF and SQLCE. ill try to explain it: The Decimal Value in VB.Net(with regional settings to english) is something like 10.98, it uses the dot to split the decimal part. In the VB.NET i work fine with this value. When i convert 10.98 i got 10,98 cuz my regional settings is pointed to Portuguese(Brasil). When i try to record the 10,98 in the SQLCE money field, it brings me and error. I was sending the 10.98, and got no problem. But with the 10,98 in the string the SQLCE assumes that there are two fields. Anyone knows how to send values to SQLCE expliciting they r money values? Or to change the regional Settings logically?     - SqlCeDataAdapter.RowUpdated event Can anybody explain to me why after calling SqlCeDataAdapter.Update the RowUpdated event is called but the error information seems incomplete? In the event hander RowsEffected sometimes = 0 so I get the idea that there has been an error, as a succesfull RowUpdate in my case should have 1 row effected. If I dont set the event argument Status to System.Data.UpdateStatus.Continue an Exception is generated which in my case often tells me there is a primary key constraint problem. However if I set Status = System.Data.UpdateStatus.Continue no exception is thrown (as expected) but nor can I get detailed error information in either the event handler or the function that called Update.     - localizating controls ? Hello, I'm trying to find an easy way to localize control's Text properties. For instance I could replace the following code: void InitializeComponents() { ... this.m_Label1 = new Label(); this.m_Label1.Text = "Hallo Welt !" ... } with this code: void InitializeComponents() { ... this.m_Label1 = new Label(); this.m_Label1.Text = Resource.GetString("Hallo Welt !") ... } In which Resource.GetString() is a static function searching the calling assembly's resources for a translation of "Hallo Welt !" depending on System.Globalization.CultureInfo.CurrentUICulture. Unfortunately, editing InitializeComponents() would render the designer useless. So that method is out of question. The next solution that comes to mind is to set all translatable text again after InitializeComponents() has finished. But this is cirumstantial, fault-prone and time-consuming (both, run-time and design-time).     - Yet again a much asked question: full screen Hi, I am reposting my question of a few weeks ago because I got no response. I was using this CDialog based baseclass STFullScreen from http://www.pocketpcdn.com/articles/stfullscreen.html This worked fine on PPC 2002 but seems ineffective under PPC 2003. It seems PPC 2003 behaves different enough with hiding start and sip menu's and perhaps with windows positions or whatever, to cause my PPC 2002 app to become useless. In CE 4.2, my application comes up in full screen, but as soon as I click anywhere in the screen, the menu bars appear again, and for some reason, I can't even exit my application anymore, buttons click, but do not seem to process messages, as the buttons animate, but do not seem to process the on_click messages. Anyway, those are specifics to my source code and the above mentioned base class I think so in general: Can someone just tell me how to, or reference me to some resource, where I can make full screen DIALOG BASED apps, which work on both PPC2002 (CE 3.x) and PPC2003 (CE 4.2) ?     - update ComboBox: flicker problem I have installed SP2. I have a screen with many Controls (setting some property values), one of them being a ComboBox. At some stage I should update the DataSource and SelectedItem of the ComboBox (when the user change a setting with another Control) the problem is even thought I change this 2 property one after the other, in the same event handler, my combo flicker. when I set the DataSource it redraws, then I set the SelectedItem it redraws again, which looks messy.     - PictureBox - Loading/Viewing JPG files I have some code that loads JPG files into a PictureBox control. It works fine if the file is small, but files over 100K cause an Argument Exception error. Since the compact frame work does not have: picbox.image.fromfile("...") When I use the exact same code in .net compact, I see 3 opaque circles. The MSDN information does not mention anything about not being able to draw transparent images.     - MessageWindow Consternation with HTMLControl I am looking for some thoughts on this. I have successfully gotten the HTMLControl to work using C#, and it is displaying HTML and receiving messages nicely. Unfortunately, I am not able to receive notifications from the HTMLControl. In an attempt to support this, I added a private MessageWindow derived class to the control, instantiating it in the constructor (of the control). Unfortunately, I am not receiving any messages from the HTMLControl. I do receive a single message on the initial load of the form (13) but not from the handle of the display window the control is using. I have not found much documentation on the MessageWindow, aside from the NotifyIcon example - which I followed. I thought that adding notifications would be rather simple when looking at that code. So, I am looking for thoughts on how to debug this - or where to look next. My options seem straight forward: 1. The control isn't producing messages and needs some initialization to do so. 2. It is producing messages but not directing them to where the MessageWindow can receive them. 3. The MessageWindow should be receiving them, but isn't properly setup to do so.     - VS 2003 freezes when bringing up GUI from code this is -really- weird. i built a GUI yesterday that included buttons, text boxes, labels, a menu, image list, and picture boxes. nothing fancy, just basic stuff. when i tried to open it today VS 2003 just froze. but when i create a new project, copy over my old .cs and .resx files, and then bring up the GUI editor and the source code, it's fine. unless i exit w/ the GUI editor still open, and try to open it again, then i have the same problem. VS 2003 also freezes when i open the old project and i don't have the GUI editor open, but then try to bring up the GUI editor from the source code. has anyone seen anything like this?? i'm running on win2k if that makes a difference. thanks in advance. Hello NG!

I've added an icon to my VB.NET PPC-project (emb. ress.) and choosen this
file in the project-properties as application-symbol.

After pressing the "Run"-button in VS in the file-explorer of the emulator
the exe is shown with that icon. Doing the same with my device connected
still the default-box with the blue border is shown.

What's wrong?

BTW: The emulatur runs with Org-CF, the device with SP2-CF, if it does
matter.

Did you run the app on the device first without an icon? Remember that the
device caches icon data, so it may need a soft reset.
