Hi group, Look at this little piece of code: Dim test As String Dim Sepken As Char() = {Chr(13), Chr(10)} Dim message As String = "123" & vbCrLf & "456" Dim En As IEnumerator En = message.Split(Sepken).GetEnumerator While En.MoveNext test = En.Current End While The split function seems to create an array with 3 elements: "123", "" and "456". The enumerator returns 3 value for en.current: "123", "" and "456". Where does the empty string come from? Am I doing something wrong?     - GetWebResponse times out over HTTPS Hi, I am using .Net CF 2.0. I have this following issue: When making a webservice call to upload more than 30KB worth of data over an HTTPS connection (TLSv1 SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5) I receive a WebException.Timeout exception. When sending less than 30KB of data using the same SSL connection the call is successful. On the contrary I have no trouble sending like 300KB worth of data over HTTP. Following is the exception message: WebException.Message: The operation has timed-out.     - Hooks on uninstallation? Our NETCF 1.0 application is being installed via CAB file over the air. We need to do some file system cleanup when the application is removed by the user.     - Debugging against Windows Mobile 5 from Visual Studio 2005 Hello, I currently have a T-Mobile SDA and T-Mobile Dash (upgraded to WM 6.0) at my disposal for development and testing. In general, I keep the SDA connected via USB to my development computer most of the time. I've been using a combination of VS 2005 and VS Orcas for my development. We are targeting NETCF 1.0 for the better device coverage, which implies VS 2005, but some of the tools in VS Orcas are just too good to miss. Jumping back and forth is a pain, but I'm making due. One thing that would be helpful is debugging against the SDA from VS 2005 when doing primary implementation in NETCF 1.0. On-device debugging works great in Orcas, but no matter what I select I end up with the emulator launching in VS 2005.     - Camera Aspect Ratio I'm developing some software on a series of devices including an O2 XDA Exec, Palm Treo 750 and an HP iPaq hw6915. All of these devices have a built in camera with different resolutions. My question is are there any APIs (with examples) that let you query the resolution of the camera? I've seen reference to Microsoft Windows Image Aquisition (WIA) constants but cannot find any example code that uses these. Alternatively if I knew that the aspect ratio of all WM 5.0 mobile device camera's is always fixed at 1.3333 then this would also help e.g. 640x480 yields 1.3333, 1280x1024 yields 1.3333 etc. but I suppose this is purely down to the hardware chosen by the manufacturer or is it defined anywhere by Microsoft?     - Connecting to a webservice through grps Hi. I having trouble connecting to a webservice via gprs. I made a small test app, which can call a webservice that returns X rows from the database or the datetime from the server. Everything works, if im connected to the webservice through Activesync (Bluetooth og usb) but when I use gprs I can only get the Datetime from the server, not the dataset.     - No such interface supported Hello LIST, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP!! I am trying to fix my visual studio installation, I dont know what has happened, but I have lost SO MUCH TIME TRYING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS. And especially when you are self employed every minute can count, I load up visual studio 2005 with a new smart device vb project and click on start debug, the dialog box comes up and with the device serlection to deploy to, I select Pocket PC 2003 Device, and click OK I then get an error messagebox saying "The operation could not be completed. No such interface supported". And then It does do any thing. I have tried registering actxprxy.dll & oleaut32.dll (sombody recommended this) An interesting thing is if I clcik Tools-> Device Emulator Manager, There are no devices in the list, it is empty. Also If I try to go to tools -> Connect to Device, after I select the device, either Pocket PC 2003 Device or Pocket PC 2003 SE Emulator, it just sits on the connecting to device dialog box until I click cancel. Please somebody, if anyone out there who may have experienced this, please let me know. I have projects due and cant complete them because of this silly error.     - File Date and Time stamp after FileStream.Write(), C# Hi all, I have just noticed in my CF app on a Pocket PC (PPC) that when I create a new file and write some bytes to it on the PPC using FileStream's FileMode.CreateNew (and Create), FileAccess.Write, the date and time stamp displayed in the Modified column in Windows Explorer on the desktop, accessing the Mobile Device, suggests that the Modified time is set for UT and not my local time. I have just noticed this and so do not know whether it has occurred in the past. I automatically thought that the date and time stamp would use the PPC's current date and time (I seem to remember that it did so in the past) but evidently not. Any ideas?     - Owner Draw I'm in the process of creating an "owner drawn" list control. Each item displays a 50 x 50 icon and a brief text description. There is a scroll bar that's not part of the control, when used, it sets the scrolltop property of the list, which triggers a repaint. Each icon is 2-3k each and getting a fairly significant flicker when scrolling. Is there another method I should be using to implement this, or is it just a PPC limitation?     - Two instances of the same .NetCF code? - TypeLoadException (Apologies for cross post from smartphone newsgroup) I have an application I've built that consists of 4 .Net CF Dll's and a single .Net executable. The application uses a single configuration file to drive the functionality. The configuration file is located relative to the Assembly's installation location. I would like to be able to install multiple instances of this code that are only distinguished by their installation location. This does not appear to work, as a TypeLoadException is thrown when one of the instances is running and an attempt to start another instance occurs. Is this not possible? If it is possible, what needs to be done to make it work correctly? Changing the executable name does not appear to be enough. What other options do I have?     - Windows Mobile 6 and CF 2 SP1 or SP2 and migration Hello, I'm trying to run a software in Windows Mobile 6.It was written for Compact Framework v2.0, which installer is NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab and runs without troubles in Windows Mobile 5. The software currently has communication with a web server using SSL and but know running on Windows Mobile 6(WM6) the a class System.Net.HttpWebRequest.Create(urlPath) throws a exception and says: Could not establish connection to network. I'm not sure if the compact framework needed by Windows Mobile 6 application is the v2 SP2 or v2 SP1 just because the pages to download the SDK for WM6 says v2 SP2, but when the installers is running verify for the v2 SP1 its confuse.     - find out proxy address/connection settings Hi, I'm trying to find some way of programatically obtaining the different connection settings of the phone, and in particular the proxy settings, so I can make a connection to the internet. The phone I'm using (Cingular 2125) is configured with a certain proxy, and connects to the internet through the local i.e without a problem. However, when I try to connect through my app (using a webrequest object), I can't get the connection to work unless I create a WebProxy object with the correct address configured in the phone's connection settings like so: myRequest.Proxy = new System.Net.WebProxy(HARDCODED_ADDRESS:PORT) Naturally, I need something more generic which would allow me to retrieve the proxy settings of any phone.     - MessageInterceptor Hi, I am having problems to use the MessageInterceptor class on a background app. It worked when I used a device app with a form. But now, I try to use it in a console app because I want to run it as a background process. I have a main class, that is a Console App, that creates a SMSListener class. It intercepts the message coming from the number "phoneNumber" and process them if they start with the keyword. But I am using a Console App in the device, as background process, and when a message is received from the number "phoneNumber" it displays as normal message for the phone, and it goes to the Inbox.     - Phone Application sending DTMF tone Hi. we have a phone application written in vb.net cf2.0 in vs2005 running on a WM5 device, which is dialling out and making a call ok. but, when that call connects to an automated system, we have to send DTMF tones when the user presses the keypad to navigate the system. it's not the standard phone which comes with the device (which does DTMF), as our client wanted to lock down the phone so the users cant just dial any number - they get a list of approved numbers and they just select from the list. can someone point me to the easiest (quickest!!) way of doing this please?     - I think this is going to be a tough one! Is there a way to keep a device from turning on the backlight and keys light when it's bluetooth services are discovered? Hi, I have some software (on my PC) that polls my Bluetooth devices for services. I have noticed that on my smart phone (Blackjack) when a service is discovered the device comes out of sleep mode and the backlight and keys light turn on. This causes my battery to drain faster if the service polling occurs often. I cant adjust the polling frequency. Is there a way to keep the device lights from turning on when Bluetooth services are found? perhaps through a registry setting or message filtering. When I set a breakpoint on any line, debugger does not stop in the breakpoint. "The breakpoint will not currently be hit. When i set the SerialPort breakstate = true, I do not receive a PinChanged (BreakEvent) on the serial port of the Pocket PC. I do receive other PinChanged events (eg CtsChanged, CDChanged, ...) However, when I connect two PC's it works fine. Actually, I want to connect a certain device to the Pocket PC through the serial port. This device generates a Break event, which I need to catch.     - Forms not completely disposing... Compact Framework 2 - SP2 Setup the project... Form1 that contains two buttons and an input panel. Form2 that contains one label and an input panel. Form2's constructor has an integer as an parameter. This will be the identifier when the form shows it status message. Everytime the input panel changes enable state the form will popup a messagebox with the id and the panel's state. Form1's buttons are exactly the same in that both will create a variable for Form2 then call the ShowDialog method. The difference is that one will call the dispose method after displaying the form. Setup the problem... When you click either button the Form2 will popup then you can click the OK button. Once you click the button to close the form the messagebox will popup and state "Form2 - 0: False". Close the messagebox. At this point I expect the Form2 variable to be dispose and irrelevant. Enter the problem... Now if you click Form1's input panel you will get a message from the Form2 that states "Form2 - 0: True". At this point you shouldn't be running any code in Form2... It needs to talk to a Web Service that I have also built. The web service is using SSL with a certificate issued by Go Daddy. The Go Daddy root certificate is not recognized by the PoketPC.     - soft keys on pocketpc 2003 devices Hi, Does'nt PPC 2003 devices support soft keys like the soft keys on WM PPC devices. I require this kind of a key to support 5-way navigation in my app. The four soft keys on the PPC 2003 are for 'start','landscape','pop-up menu','close'. That is not supported by NETCF's DataGrid. You might be able to do it via
reflections but that is a hack and I recommend you don't do that.
