Hi - Does anyone know if the xmltype oracle column data type is supported in
system.data.oracleclient?

Definitely not in Visual Studio 2003 (Framework 1.1). I have not tried in
.NET 2.0, however. The ODP.NET download, from Oracle, should have the bits
necessary, however. You can join Oracle technet (otn.oracle.com) and
download it for free.
