So I get an error message "variable redefine" I tried to test with VarType before to define the variable (dim) with no success.     - Adding rows to database table thro ASP Hi, I want to add a row to library table. Table has total 7 fields. But I want to create the new row with 5 field data.     - [NEWBIE] Viewing ASP files (.ASP extension) Dear group, I have never done any ASP coding before (Just HTML and Javascript as far as web pages go - and got on fine) I would like to start writing some ASP scripts, but I am having difficulties viewing '*.asp' files on my PC, when I open them only the HTML aspects of the code displays or I just get a blank browser window.. I am running XP, is there something special that I need to install? I have a commercial database written in access and I'm trying to display some images, jpegs, stored in the DB on web page.     - ASP and WebBots Can anyone enlighten me as to the spambot email harvesting process? I use to use javascript to protect my email address, but with security levels rising, I can't rely on everyone to have javascript enabled. I am currently using an encoding tool (UltimateMailto) that turns the email address into a combination of hex and dec code. I wondered if drawing the email from a database with asp is safe.     - simple question on vbScript SET statement Simply: On one .asp page I have: Set Session("mydictionary") = [dictionary object] Now the session variable has the dictionary object in it, then on another page ...     - Types in ASP, is it possible? Hey everyone, I am writing a basic tournament submit site for a poker tournamen group I am in. The situation is we want to use code to calculate wha we owe other members at the end of the week. The way I figured to d this is read from the database and store tournament numbers in an arra then run a query for each tournament and cycle through the tournamen data assigning the information where needed. I can not find if you ca or how you can use a Typedef in ASP.     - page expired problem Hello All I have a web pagewhich queries a db and displays information on the subsequent page. On the subsequent page if I click back to previous page (this is a button with javascript code on it), it takes me to the previous page but the page says - "warning page expired". When I am in my company work environment, I dont get this page, it properly displays the information on the previous page but when I go to the client site, it gives me the problem All of us are on the same IE version and service packs.     - Enter key behavior Hi, When the cursor is in an INPUT TEXT control and the Enter key is hit, what it's happen. I mean what is the chain of actions starting from that point. I have an ASP application that save modifications (qty chang in an input text) when the user navigate from page to page.     - Generating navigation Hi guys, I'm using the Webedit Pro CMS for a client. When the user creates a new page, rather than go through every other page in the site and add a new link to the left hand navigation I want to use an include file and search the folder for all .asp and .htm files and display them in the navi as a link. If that makes sense? I've been playing around with FileSystemObject, but am struggling to get the desired results. Rather than display the full name of the file in the navi, I want to remove the file extension and the path, and maybe convert the leading letter to a capital so it looks like a regular nav.     - Previous return values from a BE method are shown when refreshing an ASP calling that method My ASP always calls a DLL that was constructed using VFP Code. If needed, this DLL can call a VFP External Class Method that is outside the DLL for some process. The DLL is bound with COM always. I have this External Class setup because, If a quick fix is needed, I can manage this with just sending modified External Class Library instead of the DLL. But the problem arrives this way. - Call ASP to receive old value X from existing External Class Method - this works fine - Call ASP to receive new value Y from modified External Class Method - this does not work - Shutdown COM object that cotains DLL and then, - Call ASP to receive new value Y from modified External Class Method - this works fine My only idea to have External Class Library is not to disturb existing COM setup (shutdown etc) for any quick fix. Here's the problem. PendingAccRequests is a View, and when I run the SQL query (Where AccessID = "&accessID), I get good data. So I plug it into accRS. Now in that row there is a column called projID... it has the number 477 in it. But Anytime I try and call that field (accRS("ProjID")) I get nothing. It Will Not return my 477. This is the problem Just FYI. When I call newRS("AccessID") which is the ident key of the record I'm adding, I also get nothing. When I call accRS("Assigned") which is filled with the number 47, I get nothing. When I call masterRS("MasterID") which is another ident field of a recordset I'm adding. I get the wrong number.     - website on a CD I want to create a dynamic website hosted on a CD. It would be based on ASP and have a database. Is this possible? How would I approach such a thing?     - Multi-column combo box, change width on select Has anybody ever seen or written code for ASP that would mimic Access' multi-column combo box? Specifically, I have a drop down box that lists about 100 five-digit codes. Each of these codes has a long text description that explains what the code represents. I'd like to be able to show the code plus description when the drop down list is dropped down, but just the code when the list is not displayed, so that I don't have to have a hugely long combo box taking up space. So, for instance, if I had a drop down list of airports and I'd selected SeaTac, I'd just see SeaTac in the drop down box text area, but if I were to click on the arrow and drop down the list, I'd see: SeaTac Seattle-Tacoma International Airport MCI Kansas City, MO International Airport etc... I know you can change the width of the combo box through javascript, but that screws up the rest of the fields to the right. Plus, whenever I change the width on the onclick event, it hides the list and I have to click again. Is there anyway to just change the width of the list area?     - Hidden value Hello I seem to be having a problem with saving hidden values. I am trying to use the hidden values to post infomation back to the same page and also to a different second page. I would like to persit the values to a couple of more pages in this process. I have ten different values that I am trying to save. The problem is I dont see these Request objects on the second page. I have another .asp page that is included and processed on this second page (). Do I need to pass the request items to this include file and to the real page?     - Displaying recordsets I'm trying to display different recordsets (which are 1 field each) as columns right next to one another. For example, Recordset1 is displayed on the left hand side of the screen. Recordset2 is displayed immediately to the right of then first recordset with the first rows or each at the same level. Recordset3 is displayed to the right of Recordset2 and so on. There is no set limit to the number of possible recordsets (or columns to display).     - URL Rewrite Routine Hello -- I have a page that I call with a few URL parameters... For example: Parm1=a, Param2=b, Param3=c, Param4=d The ASP script can accept any number of parameters or none. Since I'm adding paging to the page via ADO RecordSet and having page navigation at the bottom, I'm creating a "Previous" and "Next" link which includes a parameter called "PageNum=" with the correct page #. The problem is... I need to append the PageNum parameter to the existing URL. And if the PageNum parameter is already on the URL, then I need to remove it and replace its value for the correct page. I assume I can loop thru the QueryString collection and compare name with value? Any sample code or help in accomplishing what I'm requesting would be appreciated.     - Browser (and other) caching I have a dynamic website system that my clients use to change their webpage conten online. Sometimes the new change isn't visible right away to a browser. I have the following in every webpage's <HEAD> section: <META HTTP-EQUIV="EXPIRES" CONTENT="0"> which on previous investigation was supposed to be a solution for this. All I want is a definitive solution so that when a browser makes a call to my server for one of my pages, everything along the line that has a cached copy of the page is going to say "Aha! The browser wants the latest version of this page! I'm going to pass this request up the line to see if their is a more recent version instead of sending it my cached copy". (Yup, that is how browsers and ISPs speak to each other). What do I have to do to my webpages to ensure this happens? At the same time, I don't want it to be getting the page all the way from the server if the page content hasn't changed. In other words, I just want the cacheing to work properly! Sorry if this isn't an explicit ASP question but no one in the HTML groups I've tried has any idea what I'm talking about and I'm hoping that those who frequent this room will have a better handle on the whole client/server/caching problem and the solution!     - Arrays or Rs in Sessions : Help me plz Hi all, I've got an issue with session variables in asp pages. I need to make a decision that I think you can hopefully help me out here. When a session starts on the iss server I need to store some information in some session variables. But this information is coming from an old dbase system. In the beginning of this project it was just a simple static array of information. Afterwards it turns out that this must be a dynamic array that we could change in other asp pages. Now, at this moment, it is even worse! There are several dynamic arrays (max10) with a lot of records (max100) and intensive changing of data in those arrays, sorting it and so on. The big problem is that I cannot write the changes in those dbases in a direct way and request them back. I know, it would help me a lot. Don't ask why! Ask this question to the green project manager! When the user is logging out then all changes will be save as an xml-file on the server, and some queuing service is picking this up a minute later to control all the data and do finally some dbase changes. My question is: can I change the arrays into disconnected record sets and store them into session variables? I'm using NT2K server with II6. In the old days (nt4 IIS4) they always said that storing objects into session variables are a bad way of programming for IIS. But in this case and with II6??? Some comments would be nice! Are you sure that this is true for .htm files? And the file is really
located on the server?
