    - Help With HTML & ASP Hi. I have an index.asp which consists of frameset and frames. The sub-frames also consists of frameset and frames. This way, I can set the layout of my webpages. In one of the frames, I load Login.asp. When it is submitted to doLogin.asp, I validate the login information. When I validate the password successfully, I want the whole webpage (the index.asp and down) to reload because it has to re-draw the menus on top. When the login is failed, it redirects to Login.asp.     - ScriptTimeout Error Hello! I made an ASP page which converts big data from a CSV file to SQL Server. It takes so long like an hour. So in the page I wrote the following line. Server.ScriptTimeout = 100000 But the pages gives an timeout error after about 40 minutes. When I tested it with empty infinite loop, it went over 1 hour.     - Windows 2003 Server / CDO Emails - ASP FAQ Lo all Ok, had problems sending emails for the first time on the new server setup this evening, found the ASP FAQ article : http://www.aspfaq.com/show.asp?id=2026 Which offered an answer to my problem - however - I then got another error - ASP FAQ once again resolved this : http://www.aspfaq.com/show.asp?id=2305 In this scenario changing the 2 to a 1 solved the problem and the email was sent... So, at the moment I am able to send emails using my own server - I then wanted to check that the CDO way of sending emails was going to work on a hosting companies server that I also use - I FTP'd the testemail.asp file up - ran it - bingo - got an email - now I'm wondering WHY! I had left the server ip as it was for my own network - I find it hard to believe that just by pure luck their email server is using the same IP as mine, and as it was a local IP (192.168 etc) - it wasn't going to resolve any other way...so...do I actually need this : cdoConfig.Fields.Item(sch & "smtpserver") = "<enter_mail.server_here>" Or can it be left out - or - did it get ignored because of the 2 being set to a 1...     - Submit form using method="post" to target="_search" Hello all, I want to use the POST method to submit the form and then grab the parameters in the asp file with request.form("parm"). The problem is that I am using the _search target to open the asp page. When I use _blank target there is no problem, either I use GET or POST method. But when I use _search target, only GET method works. I really need to use POST method cause I'm passing lot of data in the parameters.     - how do arrays work? OK, you pros out there are rolling your eyes at the subject line, but I have never had to use arrays before. The scenario: ASP Intranet app keeps track of trouble tickets for a tech support group. Table called Ticket has one row per ticket. Table named History has 0, 1, or many rows per ticket. As the tech support person makes notes to update the ticket, it adds a new row per entry into History table. One of the things storeed in this table is the status (Closed, Suspended, Customer Research, Customer Testing, my company research, my company coding, or my company testing). I put it into this table instead of the Ticket table because we want to know what state it was in as it when through the system until it got resolved. It works fine, so far, after 2 months in production. However, now the boss wants a report which will summarize how long each ticket spent in each state. (Please tell me if there is any easier way) Although I am aware of their existence, I am not sure how to code arrays. I have researched MSDN and my ASPbooks, but they aren't much help. They give some philosophy about arrays, but I already know that stuff. I do much better with code examples. Is there an easier way than what I am doing?     - How do I trap ADO Recordset events in an ASP script (W2K/IIS5)? Hi. I'd like to trap ADO Recordset object events in my ASP script (either VBS or JS, no preference). I've tried (in VBS) writing a Sub rs_RecordChangeComplete( adReason, cRecords, pError, adStatus, pRecordset ) - rs being a server-side ADODB.Recordset object - but it doesn't get called whenever rs is moved (I browse it in a loop).     - include file or database I'm working on an application that I will make use of "constants". I put contants in quotes becuase they will change periodically (Logo path, css path, psw expiration times etc). From a system admin standpoint does it make sense to put them in a constants file, or put them in a database? My database argument is that they can be modified by the customer via some web forms.     - "The requested resource is in use." IIS 5.0 is throwing out "The requested resource is in use." for any site that uses ASP - HTMl is executing fine. I have tried re-installing scripting, latest MDAC, and all my hotfixes are up to date. This just happened after the latest hotfixes were install this week. I have also tried re-syncing the IWAM account but that didn't work either... Running the webs in HIGH (isolated) did not help either.     - Downloading to Client from ASP Hello, I am developing an app that has a reporting function which displays the non-PDF reports. One of the users wishes to have the reports saved to his machine as PDFs. The app can convert the reports, and save to the server with no problem (uses a component for this). The problem is, figuring out how to save the reports to the client. The ideal approach would be to have the app save the reports to his desktop, like some of those stupid casino sites save their shortcut links. However, I would settle for just just being able to force the "download" dialog to display, instead of opening Acrobat when the app attempts to send the report to the client.     - Need Some rerouting code... puhleasse I have just picked up a little hobble to fix some code for an e-commerce site (older). It uses Aliant as the Secure Transaction server (if familiar with it you will just shiver). Problem is the secure server picks up the URL where you came from, in my case this is a product screen - a single product - not the list of products. Aliant's code reads this URL, and if you <continue shopping> you end up back on the single product page, as this is where you left. This is confusing to a customer. if they click <back> from here - they end up on the purchase shopping cart screen again, and it increases the order as all info was passed once more. It basically forms a confusing loop. Aliant refuses to adjust thrir code for individual clients as it is a global screen that you get tossed to for transactions, all their e-com clients end up there. So - what I want to do is this: Write some code so that when i click continue shopping, it goes back to the Single item Purchase page (as it must the way Aliant has it coded). It will only stay here a sec - because i want to re-route it to the list page, by writing an "If lastURL was Aliant Checkout screen, then re-route to list screen" type of code piece - can this be done?     - IIS Reverse Proxy scipt (like mod_proxy) I have been hunting around recently for reverse proxy solutions to work with IIS. An example use for this would be to put outlook web access on your multi host IIS box on port 80 or an application like sitecope on IIS's port 80. If you name it default.asp and point your default 404 error message to a URL of "/default.asp" it will kick in for every request on the site. The upshot of all this is it's like a virtual directory but instead of pointing to another local folder, UNC path or URL redirect it feeds another site by proxy. I have tested this with Outlook Web Access and seems to work (just need to pass username and password arguments on the objHTTP.send line) The script admittedly is far from perfect for example not handling form posts , login credential requests so I would welcome comments / enhancements.     - ASP won't run - Help! I've got a Win2K server with IIS installed. I've got an app (MS SUS) the configuration for which requires a local asp (SUSAdmin.asp) to run. But I can't get ANY asp pages to run (not even iisstart.asp or any of the other asp pages that get installed with IIS)! All I get is a "HTTP 500 - Internal server error" message. I installed the Microsoft .NET Framework - didn't fix the problem. I uninstalled IIS and reinstalled it and the asp pages worked... for one day - then the same thing. I know NOTHING about asp. My sticking point comes when I try to split() the string returned by readline() on the file. I suspect that StreamReader.ReadLine is not correctly returning a string, even though Response.Write(line) displays what I would expect.     - Server Busy error Hi All, I've recently been working on a site which is vital that it's up all week this week as a lot of potential clients are going to be viewing it. Yesterday for between 30 mins and 2 hours (not sure exactly how long) the server was returning a server busy error, and my boss went absoloutly mental... oops... Could it be anything in my code that caused this, or is it likely to be a server glitch? It was strange because none of the other sites on the same webspace had this problem. I'm aware that leaving server objects open can cause this, but I'm not using any on this site. Is there anythign else that could commonly cause this error?     - Calling from ASP to .NET passing Recordset Hi, I'm using a "classic" asp-page and a .net-component which I want to call passing a Recordset as a parameter. I have a reference to ADODB in the .net component which should supply a COM rapper for a Recordset. In the .net component code looks like: using ADODB: public void MyFunction( Recordset rs ) { // Doing something } In the ASP page I create the component using the usual CreateObject and then call the function in a normal manner. The component is registered in the gac and works fine when I'm calling other functions from the asp-page, even functions returning Recordsets to the asp-page, but not this function which is the only one where I'm passing a Recordset to the .net-component. I want to display some animated gif or text showing that page is loading or please wait...or some thing like that.     - Change in date format. Hi, My asp pages that display data from databases have suddenly changed the date format they display from UK to US, i.e. 11/17/2001 for 17th Nov 2003. I have checked on the win2k sp3 server that they run on, and the date/time zone is GMT UK and also the regional settings are correct for the UK. The server has been patched in the last couple of weeks, but I'm not sure which patches as various engineers have access to it. I am logged into nt and running an asp page.

I know that I can get my username from the server variable LOGON_USER or
AUTH_USER but the AUTH_PASSWORD seems to be empty.

Is there a way to retreive the current logged passsword?

No. You can't get an NT password from anywhere with anything, other than
from the user.
