 - 403 on ASP page I am having a great deal of trouble with this, hopefully someone can help me out! I have a JNI Java applet that accesses an ASP page. The page looks like this: Dim myObj Set myObj=Server.CreateObject("myDLL.myClass") myObj.Execute() Set mObj = Nothing This is accessed numerous times throughout the run of the applet. For the first x number of accesses, this works fine. However, after an indeterminate number of accesses, the page returns a 403 and I am no longer able to call myDLL.  - File download size limit I have a site that allows a person to log in and get a list of files to download for them. If the file size is under 65MB then everything is fine, they click the download button and the save box pops up. But if the file is larger than 65MB the page sits and processes until it times out. I can't figure it out becaus a 64MB file loads immediately for download while one slightly larger hangs up. Any assistance on this will be greatly appreciated.  - Possible to store javascript document.forms[0].value to ASP session? Hello all Would it be possible to store javascript document.forms[0].value to ASP session as global variable? If it is not possible, how can I pass the javascript document.forms[0].value to ASP/vbscript function? I need to pass the javascript value to ASP/vbscript function because I have to store the javascript value into database. I can't use Request.Form for getting field value.  - URL Rewriting I want to rewrite URL's from asp type ones with querystrings to more search engine friendly ones. I was looking at two options: isapirewrite or a bit of a hack which replaces the 404 page with a custom, which examines the url and then does a server transfer to the querystring page. The hack works quite well with one problem, only the 404 page is written to the IIS log. Does Isapi rewrite have the same problem.  - Dynamic CSS Hi I need to create a bunch of sites with slightly dynamic CSS. Basically, all the image paths in the CSS need to be dynamic, depending on the values of certain ASP variables. I can think of 3 ways to do this: 1. Write a script to create a semi-dynamic CSS file, which will be run whenever we need to make changes to the ASP variables controlling the image paths. 2. Have an ASP script generate the CSS on the fly: <link href="dynamiccss.asp" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> 3. Put all static CSS in a normal CSS file, and have a special dynamic style sheet for only those rules that require variability. We could either use method 2 above to generate a second style sheet, or place dynamic rules directly in the actual asp pages. I'm not sure what to do. (1) has the disadvantage that the CSS is not truly dynamic. (2)... well, I'm not sure if (a) this is legal by W3C standards and whether there's a performance hit involved. (3) has the disadvantage that it places rules for the same elements in different locations, which could lead to confusion. Is there a generally accepted way to solve this problem?  - Sessions and Crystal Reports I'm asking this on the off chance that someone out there might have seenit before. In my current application, when the user logs in, the state variable called "role" is assigned to them, detailing what they can do and what they cannot do. This variable follows them through the entire application (It is assigned using Session("role") = "xxx"). Problem is, when I run a crystal reports RPT file, I lose the session variable - it reverts to being equal to "", rather than "ADMIN" or some such thing. I can track this throughout the app and i know for a fact that it happens as soon as a RPT file is run... Has anyone else seen something like this before?  - aspx dont work: App-Domain could not be created After restart some time is everithing ok. After some hours - some days, problem start. Only in pool, where dll VB6 is used, aspx pages (asp ok) does not work. Event: Failed to execute request because the App-Domain could not be created.  - Display images actual size I am putting together a website for a photographer. There will be a section where his clients can select various sizes of picture to order. I would to be able to display the images the actual size depending on the clients screen size and resolution. Is this possible? I know that the server receives info on the resolution of the client computer, but that isn't quiet enough if you don't know the size of their monitor. OR the pixels per inch w * h of the client computer? It doesn't need to be 100% perfect - there are those monitor controls that let you stretch and compress the active area of the monitor but most people will be within some reasonable range. Any ideas?  - Roster web application Hi all, I am about to create a web application using asp and vbs to build an online roster for a department of 25 people. The roster covers some 10 shifts a day, 7 days a week always starting on a Sunday. I will be using an access database file to hold the information. At this this stage I will hold all the data for each week based on the date that the week starts. I am looking for ideas on how to dynamically give the user the option to choose any given week in any given year, always starting on a sunday. Could this be created on the fly or would it be easier creating a database table holding the dates for Sunday for a year or 2 ? Once a week is chosen a check on the database will determine if that weeks roster has been created or not. If not a user with the correct permissions can then create it. The rosters are currently written out by hand. It is a labourious task which must have certain numbers of staff working each shift for a given day. By creating a web application automating the checking process and making the roster available online and by email will make life easier for all staff involved. Any help, much appreciated.  - Determine if more than one row returned I have an ASP/ADO application querying an SQL Server DB. I want know the most efficient way to determine if more than one row is returned from a query. If more than one row is returned, the user will be presented with a choice of which row to process. If only one row is returned, I want to skip this stage, and process that single row immediately. I can think of a number of ways of acheiving this (eg. .recordcount) but I'm looking for the slickest and most efficient method.  - ASP error messages nested on with IIS 6.0 When an HTTP 500.100 occure in IIS 5.0, I was getting redirected to a HTTP 500.100 - 'page cannot be displayed' error page when there was an error, but now in IIS 6.0, I get 'Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01c2' ' nested within the page. I'm trying to create my own error messages so it will re-direct to my own error page and send me an email. I used to be able to do this in IIS 5.0 but I can't seem to get it going in IIS 6.0 as it doesn't re-direct to a default error message.  - ASP 0113 again, but only on few machines Hello, I have big problems with this errors. In our company we're using an application on asp site, which is working with Sql Server 2k. Generally it works fine but there are some problems. On few computers there is: Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0113' Script timed out etc. I know what this error means, but it seems for me strange because on 95% computers this application works fine without any problems. But there is a few computers on which this error is occuring.all the time and these computers have Windows 2k or Windows XP installed, so this is not Windows problem. I was looking for similar error for a long time, but i haven't found explanation to situation like this. For sure this is not because many people try to connect, I think this is something with connection with sql server, but have no idea what. Please Help! I understand the main problem here is my limited knowlege of ASP. I have a test system set up for debugging with iis6 on win2003 I couldn't connect to the system from my xp workstation so I installed visual studio 6 with interdev on the test server.  - Record lines without tables Hi, I regularly code in standard asp with MySQL. I have a page which displays records with the background colour of each record table row in a different colour. There are 2 table rows per record. The problem is that at the end of each field in a row, the background colour stops and then continues in the next field, i.e. the rows look like a brick wall design. Is there anyway I can adjust my designs so that no matter how many fields or rows I have, the background colour is seamless and the visitor cannot see the start and end sections of each field ?  - Help or Ideas Here is my issue... I am working on creating a website http://www.adoptabrick.com The new site is in progress http://www.adoptabrick.com/pilot The first website uses flash right now on the page marked "The Wall". I would like to change the page to utilize aspx. Is it possible? Here is the background. The brick images are on the file system. The information displayed is based on a query to a backend database. the query determines what to pull in. i.e. The database will only have the name of the image to pull in and then flash will link the image name from the database to that on the file system. The image is displayed as you can see with the text overlayed on top. ASPX I have a basic datagrid created and it pulls the image from the file system when putting the image name in the database, however I can not get it to format similar to that of the one in flash. Also, I have not figured out how to put the text on the image either. The image will be created dynamically at run time! I hope all this makes sense... it is complicated and I am wasting valuable time. I have read about GDI+. Basically each record in the database will have an image associated with it. I want to take the image and build a wall, if possible with text overlaying each image based on what the customer entered. What tools are better for doing this, or is it not possible?  - Problem with include files! Hello, I am new to ASP and am trying to make some changes to some ASP 3.0 code I have inherited. I have a number of ASP pages with VBS as the base language, on each of these pages I have successfully included a piece of VBS code that produces output in a table cell by using:  I have added a new page to the site where the base language is JavaScript. If I try to use the same include line there it doesn't work as it correctly detects that the code in the include file is written in VBScript not JavaScript. So I tried... <Script language="VBScript" src="showAnswers.inc" </Script> The page runs in the browser without error but the code in the include file isn't included so I don't get the output I expect.  - Linked Form Menus Hello I currently have a page with car manufacturers in a dynamic form menu. Users can select one and click submit to find available cars by that manufacturer. What i now need is a second menu on the page where when a manufacturer is selected, the models associated with that manufacturer display for a user to choose. Basically, I have some old code (that used SELECT *, used rs(...) syntax but did not first store the value in a variable before writing to the screen) and I'm trying to determine if this old code was affected by the bug when it was run. I'm trying to determine if there is a version of MDAC such that code running on that version or a newer version will not be affected by the bug, regardless of the coding practices used (or the method used to connect to the database). Would a message board be suitable? They tend to be easy to use and
administer, and many support attaching images to your message. There is a
reasonably large selection listed on Aspin:
