    - How to open a file on the clients local hard drive from within ASP Dear, I do have an ASP page with vbscript code entirely executed on the IIS server. The page contains a lot of data coming from the SQL Server. I want to populate one of the <select> boxes on that page with data coming from a file stored on the clients local hard drive.     - HTTP 401.1 error when using IP address... Our IT team relocated our application servers yesterday. They had to take one machine out of the cluster because it would prompt users for credentials if accessed using the IP address, which I guess is what happens when it is accessed through the firewall. However, it works as expected when I use the machine name in place of the IP address. To summarize, the application servers were moved to a new hosting site and one machine is behaving badly. Here are the scenarios: If I access www.myfqdn.com from the internet and I happen to hit the server that is misbehaving, I am presented with a windows logon prompt. If I access http://machinename/myapp/mypage.aspx, then it works as expected. If I access http://machineip/myapp/mypage.aspx, then I am presented with a windows logon prompt. Any clues or suggestions of where to ask this question would be greatly appreciated. Of course, cancelling the windows logon prompt results in the 401.1 error. Carl Tag: FSO Error Tag: 332592

    - Creating a variable name as the value of another variable. Hi, Something I've never come across before and has given me a headache. I have a txt file with content similar to below I want to read in each line do a split on the = and then create a variable with the name of the first value and the value of the second.     - Send email when I click on a button? Okay, I have a website that was initially generated by a program called ASP Runner Pro. It's really nice, has my access database online (I run it on a godaddy.com server) and I love the layout. However, I really want to make it so that when I add a new DOCTOR to my database of doctors, an email is sent to the doctor telling them that they have been added to the database. I plan on editing the website files manually from Dreamweaver. I don't know how to set up my email smtp server in ASP or anything like that though. I've searched the forms desperately, but all instructions assume that I already have setup my email smtp (which will be google) in my ASP, which I don't know how to do.     - How can I detect if a class is included more than once ? Here is the problem, I am working with a bunch of old code so I can really restructure the includes, otherwise I guess I could change all the #include statements to #include-once. Anyway, If I have a file with a class like this: Class myClass end class I get a "name redefined" error. I've been seeing these and indeed from goolge searches, it's because the file is somehow included more than once. This problem doesn't occur for functions and the old code bases just used functions whereas I would like to add some classes. In C you used to be able to detect that at the top of the file and not included the rest of the file if it is allready included. I just want to at least detect it so I don't redeclare the class ...     - PLEASE HELP! Getting Error -214746259 I wonder if anyone can help me out, or point me in the right direction, in solving my current problem: I have started seeing an error on one of my ASP pages. Id displays totally blank except for two lines, as follows: '80004005' ?, line 0 There is no more information on the page other than that. I have managed to establish that the error number is -2147467259. I haven't got a clue where to even begin looking because there is so little information from the error to suggest what is wrong.     - Page continuously refreshs One of my ASP's was working fine for a long time. Now it has started constantly refreshing itself. Everytime I run it I just get the first part of the page, then it refreshes itself, the rest of the page doesn't get displatyed, and this goes on continuously. The main sympton is that the select box thats being populated gets a different number of rows loaded into it each time. And the last row that gets loaded is always truncated. Its almost like theres some size limitation its encountering. I didn't think there was a limit on select boxes. The ASP is index.asp, and I have a form that submits it to itself. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm using WinXP Pro SP2, IIS, Access db.     - Trying to get Microsoft Script Debugger working with classic ASP, please help .. I am trying to get the debugger to work for ASP. The server is set up with classic ASP, on IIS 6.0. I just installed the Microsoft Script Debugger version 1.0.7295, and older product (97). Anyway, I followed all the config instructions I could find. I had to run the debugger by finding it in Windows Explorer as the install gave me no icons. At any rate, I noticed when I had the debbuger running and I was looking at help files on the server, the debugger showed those as running documents. To configure for debugging, I enabled debuging asp in the IIS manager I ran dcomcnfg from startup/run found machine debug and set the properties. Location is checkboxed as "run app on this computer" The ASP 3.0 book (1999) says to to start/run: MMC and use that to configure debugging. I figured out how to do that after locating the iis.msc file, and then finally it appears that from that angle it looks correct as well, but when I open a browser session from a remote machine that connects to the server, the debugger doesn't show anything in the running documents window, so I am stumped at the moment and slightly bewildered, any ideas ? things to try ? thanks alot Tag: FSO Error Tag: 332445

    - Getting fragment from URL I have a series of pages I want to put a link on that will allow them to go back to the page they entered from (the referring URL). The problem is that to return to the previous page correctly I need the fragment (page.asp#fragment) along with the referring url. Problem is that ASP does not seem to provide that.
